  • Is anyone able to confirm that prices haven't risen from rrp for this deal?

    • +2

Coincidentally got a quote on Friday - base prices are the same, so a quote for the same tyres is ~$25 cheaper than it was last week.

    • +2

This is not one of those 20% off selected eBay seller deals. So no price jacking here.

  • +11

    Don't forget K-Mart $5/tyre price beat.

    • Good tip thanks. The misso needs a set of new tyres

    • +2

thanks for reminder - just did exactly this

      • 4 x Potenza Adrenalin RE003 205/55R16 @ $136 = $544
      • buy 3 get 4th free = $408
      • KTAS price beat @$5 a tyre = $388 ($97 each!)
      • hi, Just wondering what link should I show to the sales person at K Mart. And what should I say to him for the price match?
        Thanks

        • +1

I just told them the price Bridgestone quoted me over the phone and they volunteered the discount themselves.

I rang the local shop but it rang out and I got transferred to a central customer service rep - I reckon you're probably better off dealing with them if possible rather than the people at the store maybe.

The rep had to get confirmation from someone first but when he came back he said it was their policy and since I asked for a price match the $5 per tyre happened automatically.

        • @nith265: thanks a lot. Will make some phone calls this afternoon.

      • Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 215/55R17 94W 4 $195.00 $780.00
        4th Tyre Free -1 $195.00 -$195.00
        Total $585.00

        Fitting Included
        Wheel balancing Included
        Tubeless valves Included
Accredited environmental scrap tyre disposal Included

$585 doesn't seem like that good of a deal to me (not including the -$20 if I get the KTAS price beat). I feel like the bump the price up per tyre to counteract the get 1 free deal.

        Do different stores quote differently?

    • -1

I got a very good deal last week for kmart tyres 215/60 R16 for 60$ a tyre :)

      • +2

Whether or not that is a deal depends on the quality of tyre… I would never skimp out on tyres.

        • Its Goodyear Diamondback’s, not the top of the line, but quite ok

  • +2

Saw this offer in Costco yesterday also. They said price was $110+ per tire and I pay only for 3 tires for a set of 4.

    • +20
      • tyre
      • +5

Im growing tyred off awl this misspelling, and your always having too correct it.

        • i greed

    • What was the size of the tyre for $110 pls?

  • -4

When are the other brands going to follow suit like in 2016….
    I don't want Bridgestone ><

    • +5

why? Between Potenzas and Pierelli Z they are best tyres for the money

      • I'm looking for advan ad08r or Hankook RS4.

The Bridgestone re003 aren't up to par to both those and cost the same.
Also from my experience with Bridgestone in the past they seem to wear out very quick too…

        • should have stocked up when they did the ad08s deal previously! not that they last when u have fun on the track

        • +1

AD08R and RE003 aren't really a like for like comparison. AD08R also cost a lot more per tyre.

RE003 and Michellin PS4 are more like for like.

        • +1

The original Bridgestone Duelers on my Honda CR-V were replaced after 110,000k. Just my experience…

        • @nayfon:

Exactly this, PS4 are a much better tyre too, ran both on street and track on the same setup and the PS4s always hold up better, especially in the wet. Would love Michelin to do a deal on them one day!

RE003s are hard to beat in terms of performance at the price range though, can have a bit of fun at the track in your average car without breaking the bank.

      • Not sure if I got four new Potenza or Ecopia about 18 months ago, literally from day one they were squicky making screeching noise when going around the roudabouts or turning, took the car back to Bobjane and said there was nothing wrong, and they have soft walls by default. The noise never went away and is getting louder. Not happy at all with them.

      • -1

I would go for Michelin over Bridgestone every time if they are same price. PS4 is much better than RE003.

      • I have a different experience with PZeros, utter garbage on my car. They feel like they were carved from blocks of ice. I assume the Zero in PZero means Zero grip.

    • +1

I've been using Dunlop SP Sport 01 tyres for quite a few years and would happily recommend them. They ware very well (one car has done 77000KM's in 6 years and the tires are still good), and handle corners, wet/dry very well too.

      • +3

If blacknwhite1 is otherwise looking at Advan AD08Rs or RS4s, they absolutely are not interested in tyres that last 80,000km!

  • Was excited by this as I was going to buy new tyres this week. Except the only tyre to suit my car that this offer applies to is $355 per tyre.

    • +3

      saved yourself $355 then

  • Any runflats included?

    • +1

Should be some runflats from the Potenza range, T&Cs don't exclude runflats

  • +6

Note - the Serenity Plus is only available from Bridgestone fitting centres - don't be afraid to ring a couple as they will compete. I got a set of 215/60x16s fitted for $390 a year ago. Excellent tyres - I did heaps of research before opting for these and have been very impressed.

    • Similarly impressed with these, much quieter than the yokos they replaced. 205/65.15 for $375 in September 2017.

      • Toyota? I’m looking for tyres in that size as well

        • 2001 commodore

      • I agree. I just purchased a set of 4 turanza serenity plus from Bridgestone Select. 225/50/R17 for $187.50 each tyre ($750 total). Bargain. Quiet tyres indeed.

    • Not knowing much about automotive slang, what does the 215/60 ~ 205/65 refer to?

      • +1

The numbers represent the tyre size.
From memory, the first number is the width of the tyre in mm… second number is the % ratio of side wall to width of tyre… and the last number is the diameter of the wheel it suits.

        215/60/R17 = 215mm wide, 60% of 215mm side wall, 17" wheel.

You can have a look at your tyre to find out what size tyre your wheels/rims require.

      • Almost all passenger/SUV tyres follow this sizing format, so for this example of 215/60R16 -
215 = width of the tyre in millimetres, or "section width". It's not exact, more of an approximation. Will vary slightly from one brand/model of tyre to the next
60 = aspect ratio. Sidewall height of the tyre will be 60% of the 215mm width.
R = radial. For cars, basically all modern cars have radial tyres. Basically irrelevant
        16 = it's for 16" diameter wheels.

  • This is the standard offer. If they aren't doing buy 3 get 1 free, they'll just discount all 4 and come to a similar result.

    • -1

      Not for Potenza

      • -1

        ?
I've never paid full price for tyres.
All tyres can be discounted at any time. YMMV.

        • You said this is their standard offer. It's not.

You can bargain to a certain extent, but 4 for 3 is the cheapest offer they get.

I've never paid full price for tyres either. But I won't replace my set until this sale comes on. If you keep an eye on their prices (like I do) then you know how much to pay when the sale is on.

        • @nayfon:

Buy 3 get 1 free comes along quite regularly, and, if they are NOT DOING A BUY 3 GET 1 FREE, the price you will get it at will be similar to the buy 3 get 1 free. At least in my experience of negotiating with them.

          EXAMPLE: 3 x $100 = $300 but get 4 tyres
          OR, 4 x $100 = $400, discounted to around $300.

The amount leaving the wallet is about the same.

        • +1

          @nayfon:

I have a quote right now for a set of Bridgestone Potenza S001's that Bridgestone themselves won't match or beat, even with the Buy 3 get the 4th free ($1197 for 3+1 free, or $1030 from Kmart Tyre+Auto). I was told by the Bridgestone rep over the phone to "take the (Kmart) deal and run". Size 225/35 R18 for those curious.

I've bought plenty of sets of tires, the promotions mean next to nothing, all the dealers will compete on price and quotes regardless of promotions.

Shop around, get multiple quotes, and pit Kmart, Bob Jane etc against each other, always been the way to get the best price.

        • @Chewiebacca: Bridgestone dealers are rubbish. I've always gotten mine at Jax and they price match without question.

  • Can you mix different size tyres?

    • From the T&Cs - "Where staggered fitments are required, the free tyre will be offered on the tyre with the lowest price"

  • +5

Avoid Supercat tyres. I had them on my car and they would squeal easily at start and had very little grip on white painted lines. Pay maybe $20 more per corner and get something much better.

    • +3

Yes very dangerous in the wet, next to no grip on stop start and steering. Need to be a very good driver with brake pedal work and steering…just not worth it.

  • rynosaur

    Just made this joke up:

What do you call a gay rhino?

    A rynosaur.

    • -4

So we're doing homophobia here now?

      • +3

What's with the negative votes? some people really are too sensitive these days. Cant say anything without offending people

        • -1

I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that…), however the joke is offensive.
Not only to gay people, but to their friends, families, colleagues, neighbours.
I think the comment should be removed.
It is also completely unrelated to the topic, which is almost as bad.

I'm also disappointed at the negative votes I received for my earlier comment calling out the unacceptable post.

        • +2

@altando: You think the comment should be removed because a joke naming a gay rhinoceros is offensive to neighbours of gay humans?

        • +2

          @altando:

Not only to gay people, but to their friends, families, colleagues, neighbours.

You don't exaggerate much, do you?

        • +2

          @altando:
It is only offensive to those that are looking for something to be offended by.

      • +4

Mocking horned perissodactylic mammalian herbivorous odd-toed ungulates does not contravene OzBargain guidelines.

        • +3

I think the joke should be changed to 'what do you call a non gender specific rhino who likes anal'

        • +2

          @PJC
Now that does offend me!! Only because I dont understand half of it.. :-(

  • +1

In need of a new set of wheels. I currently have a set of Pirelli P1s right now. What else could I get that would be comparable?

    • +4

If you need new wheels, then make sure you get wheels, not tyres.

      • +1

Ah crap. I did mean tyres.

    • +1

Turanza range is equivalent to Pirelli Cinturatos to my understanding.

      • Hmm cheers mate! Will do a bit more research on which to get. My P1s didn't seem to last as long as my original Michelins…Wonder if the Turanzas will last longer.

    • Potenza RE003s.

  • +1

I took advantage of this deal last time it was on and bought some Ecopia's. Happy with them so far.

    • +1

I did the same, replacing my Bridgestone Duelers with Ecopias & I find them smoother & quieter.

  • I need to change all 4 of my tyres and am after 215/60R16.Looked at the bridgestone website and seems my options are TURANZA Serenity Plus or ECOPIA EP300. which of these would you recommend I go for? The car is used mostly for suburban driving with couple of trips up or down the coast every year.

    • personal opinion on Ecopia ep300, been using them for 2 years now, wear tolerance is pretty good, still having 75% thread left with daily driving of 20kms per day. I dont seem to notice the fuel savings that they have stated, and would rather go with turanza for better grip. would prolly change back to turanza next year or this year end before they go below 45% thread wear.

    • +1

Don't buy the ECOPIA tyres. I have changed my Yokohama 225/65R17 for Bridgestone Ecopia H/T EP850. Worst purchase ever! Very little grip and increased tyre roar. Ironically, the tyre wear and fuel consumption have increased for this supposedly ECO tyre.

      • +1

Thank you Cocobear & EnegueWeil. Seems like better option is to go with TURANZA, I did a quote with Bridgestone store closest to my home just now and they said TURANZA will be $387 and Ecopia will be $396. Will do some more quote to see if i can get it cheaper anywhere else.

        • $387 for a set? May I ask what size? Thanks

        • @kuls: 215/60R16

        • @kuls: and yes the price is for the set although wheel alignment is separate $66 on top of $387

        • @lokesh7: Thanks. I ended up getting Ecopia EP300 from Costco for $368. Costco didn't have the offer on Turanza.

  • Anyone reccomend a series in 245/40/19? Don't need top of the line.

Have a cheap set on and they have to go. Absolute rubbish.

    • Go the turanza if they're in your budget

  • +2

For anyone needing performance tyres, very impressed with my Potenza RE003s previously bought under this deal

    • +1

curious on how good are they when comparing wet grip and dry grip ignoring noise against turanza?

      • +1

Personally I'm really happy with the dry performance and grip of the RE003, especially for what I paid for them. Wet performance is fine, hasn't concerned me, but I don't drive anywhere near as quickly in the wet. Have seen plenty of criticism of their fast driving wet performance from people who like to push them in all conditions.

      • +1

Not sure about Turanza but compared to my older RE050s dry grip is superb. Don't push hard enough in the wet to assess wet performance but my expectations aren't high

        • Thanks guys, i'm nearly giving up like another have said about ecopia. can't wait to try RE's instead of turanza's.

        • @EnegueWeil:

I currently have RE003's, they're a very good tyre but don't last as long, I do hammer them in the wet as well and had no issues. 5K left to go before I switch to Michelin Pilot Sport 4.

        • @aussiekid:

oh? are Michelin's better? the local guys at some shops did tell me they prefer bridgestone. haven't tried michelin's before.

        • +1

          @EnegueWeil:

I originally made up my mind using TyreReviews with the RE003's

          RE003 Review

          Michelin PS4 Review

When I got the '16 Outback fitted with new Tyres I went with the Michelin Latitude Sport 3, and the guys down at Taleb Tyres (Sydney) recommended I go with the Michelin PS4 next time for my '06 Forester instead of getting RE003's again.

        • @aussiekid: Did you mean the Latitude Sport instead? Cos the Latitude Sport 3 dont fit on the Outback when I checked the Michelin website. I m currently tossing up between the Bridgestone Ecopia 850 and the Michelin Latitude Sport but not sure if the Michelins worth the extra $250 since the Bridgestones are on buy 3 get 1 free promotion.

  • Uggghhhh changed the everyday car to a cheap set of 16s, noisy as, not much cheaper than this.

  • Any other suggestions besides the 225/45R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE003 for my 2012 VW Golf GTI? Just got quoted $516 for 4 from Bridgestone

    • IMO can't be beaten for the price. Michelin PS4 is the next step up with better wet performance in particular

    • That's a good price. It's a very good tyre.

    • That's a ripper price

  • wish they had this deal on a couple of months ago. back then you could get 4 for the price of 3 but limited to only the ecopia. Didn't want that, too many negative reviews so ended up getting 4 hankook dynapro hp2 for the price of 3. They are sitting in the shed until i need them. When i do need to put them on, i just take them back and they fit them free of charge

    • +6

Why would you do that? You’ve let hundreds of dollars sit in your shed doing nothing

  • i did the price beat with kmart tyres.
    same tires at cheap price.
