If this is similar to Rain-X it's a fantastic product. When you're on the freeway in light rain it's like you're going warp speed as all the droplets stream off your windshield.

    • +3

Cool! I want to experience that

      • +3

I too would like to know how it compares to rainx,

when they use terms like "tate-of-the-art nanotechnology to transform automotive glass into a high performance, ultra-long lasting rain repellent surface"

I imagine my windscreen turning into the incredible hulk

        • +1

No you're thinking of "ultra-long lasting pain repellent surface".

Be assured: your windscreen will deflect rain, but not hammers.

        • +2

          @MattyD:

          it works!!
ive been throwing hammers at my windscreen,
theyre all bouncing off like a balloon

** do not try this at home

      • Some drugs can give you the same experience…

        • +1

you mean like cough medicine, just rub it on the windscreen?

    • +11

Doesn't work anywhere near as good as rainx. I bought it last year

      • +3

Even rain x doesn’t work like it used to. Maybe my memory is flawed though. Everything seems smaller too.

        • +3

          And more annoying

        • +3

          @singlemalt72:

That comment works so much better with your avatar choice

        • And those damn kids won't stay off my lawn either!

    • When you're on the freeway in light rain it's like you're going warp speed

Are you saying it will make my Corolla feel like a Lamborghini!?!

      • +6

        Wrong L. More like Lada.

      • +1

Maybe if you add some racing stripes and a spoiler

      • I just painted my car red, made it go faster

    • +2

Can I apply it to my sunnies to experience warp speed whilst on my push bike?!

    • -3

it's pretty bad cos it makes you wanna drive faster in the rain

  • how long does it last?

    • +26

I've often been asked that question.

    • Mine on windshield been applied 3 years ago. still working so far

      • As in you've applied it once and it lasted 3 years?

        • Yes, they are different products.

I applied enduroshield for glass. It cost me $24.99 @aldi

        • +5

          Impossible!

        • @ireadtermsofuse: I am not quite sure about this product as it's for windscreen.

I used to purchase one for glass but applied on my car's windscreen 3 years ago and it's still working

        • +1

@John Kelvin: Even the manufactures says that Enduroshield rain repellent can last up to 1 year.(usually far less than that)

        • @GregFiona: For the glass treatment, it backed by 3 years warranty. And it did great job than what I expected.

        • @John Kelvin: probably because it’s a different product

      • Mine on windshield lasts 3 years. still working fine

Maybe if you never use your wipers, never wash the car and rarely drive it might last that long but in the real world it will last 2-6 months. Rain-X is cheaper as it gives you more coats before bottle - https://www.rainx.com/faq/long-will-rainx-original-glass-tre…

The manufacturer of this product claims up to 1 year - https://www.enduroshieldauto.com/

Single application lasts beyond 3 years and is backed by a 3 year limited warranty

I applied the Enduroshield glass treatment as I mentioned above.

I wash my car every 3 months. normal use wipers.and normal drive as well (15,000 - 16,000km per year.)

        • @John Kelvin: You wash your every 3 months ! Longer than 2 weeks with my white car and I feel like I'm driving something from Mad Max all dirty.

        • +6

          @DannyBoy:
3 months sounds about right for me too. Thats usually when the rain is heavy enough that i park it outside and let god do its work. Maybe once a year ill run out and sponge it up whilst its pouring.

        • +2

          @DannyBoy:

I wash within a couple of days of being dirty, works out to every week or two.

Some people don’t take pride in their car though, to them it is just a transport appliance, it does a job and is no more valued than a washing machine*. This is okay, different people value different things.

*They also tend to both be white, the unvalued car and the washing machine, interestingly enough.

        • @LoopyLou:
Couldn't agree more, so many young's ones and people that have just acquired their Ls or Ps and don't know how to either change a tyre or replace a fuse quite sad. It should be like parts of Europe where you have to know specifics about the car while getting your license

        • +1

          @John Kelvin:

Single application lasts beyond 3 years and is backed by a 3 year limited warranty

That is a product for your windows and other vertical glass surfaces at home which doesn't have wipers scraping across the glass, doesn't drive at over 100kph, doesn't have abrasive products hit it, didn't get washed all the time, doesn't get baked in the sun and doesn't get shat on.

That product will only last 3-6 months on a car.

I applied the Enduroshield glass treatment as I mentioned above.

It doesn't change anything. On house glass it will last for a few years, on a car a few months.

        • @Maverick-au:

Yes, I mentioned I used a different product above.

and it's done much better job than I expected.

Just wanna share my own experience. That's it.

        • +1

          @DannyBoy:
If only you had a black car…

        • -4

          @John Kelvin:

Yes, I mentioned I used a different product above.

Which is effectively the same as the windscreen product in different packaging.

and it's done much better job than I expected.

It's not going to last three years just because in another application it can.

        • @ATangk: Batmobile ?!

        • +2

          @DannyBoy:
I wonder how often he needs to wash that, driving through buildings and all…

        • @LoopyLou:
So do you wash your most valuable possession every time it rains or just let the dust sit on the paint? I’m talking about you house 😜
People in Rainex glass cars shouldn't throw sponges.

        • @Quarn:

You’ll be pleased to know I use Rain X on (some of) my home windows 😂

      • I applied it to my glasses, now I use them as goggles when I go for a swim!

        it works, trust me

    • I would say a couple of months(I have tried both RainX and the Aldi one)

    • Searched online, have one person claiming it lasts a year.

Rainx is much easier to apply, but also needs to be topped up a lot.

      Aquapel lasts maybe 8 months.

Gtechniq depends on which formulation but apparently rates pretty well also.

      • +1

hmm marked for further research :)

    • +2

It depends how much it rains, how much you use your wipers.

It is pretty much wax for your windscreen.

2-3 rainy driving hours for RainX. I don't know the Aldi product.

    • +3

I applied mine in April last year, still going strong
Huge difference when you've never used it before - super clear vision in rain

Note - didnt improve the missus driving.. she still crashed twice

      • +4

didnt improve the missus driving.. she still crashed twice

Try spraying it in her eyes.

        • U scab…

        • Tear repellent eyes and cheeks, for the tragic people in our lives

  • +1

Will this work to prevent fogging of bathroom mirrors?

    • +3

Best thing is to rub it with a soap bar, then buff with a cloth.

    • The glass version of this product worked for me on my bathroom mirror. Quite impressed with the result

    • +1

You want the interior anti fog, not windscreen treatment - http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Rain-X-Interior-Gla…

(I use this on my bathroom mirrors & it works really well in preventing them fogging up)

      • Yep what he said.

This question came up in a deal I posted last year, you want the interior anti-fog for that.

    • +2

Real OzBargainers use a potato to prevent fogging

    • After posting my potato comment I thought I'd actually research briefly if it works.

Found a decent comparison for household products here.
      http://tiphero.com/defogging-car-windows/

Potato makes a difference but shaving cream seems to be the clear (pun intended) winner for cheap household alternatives.

  • +3

I just use silicone spray, and also do my wiper blades with it.

Lasts a while and water beads off.

    • +2

      Yes ,same thing .
      It's silicone people .
Try tyre shine , same silicone base , much cheaper.

      • anything else that is call something something but silicone spray?
I have some silicone spray to be used as MD40, can I use that instead of tyre shine? thanks!

        • +1

Very expensive way to go ,
better save that stuff for squeaky windows ect as a lubricant
Hint : Tyre Shine is good for all external plastics and rubber on a car, truck ect. Try on snorkel ,or mudguards ,faded bumpers ect.
Give's you that second-hand caryard look,
just don't over do it or it will run in black streaks.

        • nah mate, WD40 is a completely different thing

        • @simulacrum: silicone spray to be used as MD40, not MD40 but silicone spray

  • +2

Anyone use this on their shower screens or similar product in this price range? And what was your experience?

    • +2

      Yes, good experience.

      • +7

Good experience in the shower, it must have been a golden experience?

        • Trump likes a Golden Shower.

  • +6

Having used both, just either clay or clean your windscreen with [0000] steel wool (YouTube), then buy some "303 Windshield washer tablets" from ebay or Amazon if they still ship here, I bought the 25 pack 3 years ago, still heaps left. Much cheaper, easier and lasts 10 times as long.

*Seems Amazon won't ship any more (unless you use a forwarding service), here's the cheapest ebay option.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/303-Products-230395-1-Windshield-Wa…

*How to clean and apply rain-x etc if you want it to last, I just don't bother with the rain-x part any more and substitute the 303 tabs.
    https://youtu.be/_roafGwUvq0

    • AUD$22.13 shipped for 25 tabs making 25 gallons.

    • thx - will check this.

  • Does SuperCheap usually drop the price of Rain-X during the Aldi sales?

    • Does SuperCheap usually drop the price of Rain-X during the Aldi sales?

Why would they? You can't compare the products, Rain-X does a lot more coats for the same money.

  • +1

This stuff is cheaper and you can use it on your car body too:
    https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/9H-Anti-scratch-Liquid-Ceramic-Car…

Just did my whole car with one of these bottles, did about 1.5 coats of a big SUV with this tiny bottle.
The ceramic coating applies easier than something like rain X. Never tried the Aldi one.

    • Worth it ?

      • Definitely. Far superior than any wax I've used

    • I'm might give it a go. Wash n wax before yeah? Got a webpage where I can get more info?

  • +2

I used these before and it destroyed my window, ,made it look like oil had been poured all over it. Wouldn't touch it again

    • +1

Suggest you clean with metho and polish the windscreen first if your car is not in good shape.

      • +3

to anyone reading this advice, please put up your wipers before using metho. it'll eat the rubber

      • +1

Thanks for the reply, it was a while back, car was spotless but always can be something on there. Will try next time

  • Keen to know how this compares to competitors.

I've used RainX (clayed and polished glass before application). Lasted 3-6months.

    Nanolex lasted 12 months.

    Gyeon lasted almost 12 months.

I didn't use my wiper and only low foaming detergents as windshield wash.

  • +2

Will it repell homeless people dumps on windscreens

    • +2

      Nope will repel cyclists

  • +1

    It doesn't last…put your $9.99 towards RainX

  • +1

I've experienced wipers vibrate and chatter when I apply RainX… I have Bosch Aerotwin wipers on my car.

  • +1

I find the best use for this type of thing is actually side windows. P.s. recently upgraded my stock wipers to michelin and noticed a massive improvement.

    • +1

love the michelin wipers from costco. made a huge difference on my windscreen

  • -1

You can just use regular car wax for the same results.

  • In 11 days - seriously OzBargain?? Will have probably forgotten by then…
