Hey mate, would you also be able to PM a transcript as well? I've called and chatted about 10 times now to no avail :(
    It would be much appreciated!

  • Is there a way to redeem the jbhifi $200 as I don’t have a need to buy anything from there ?

    • I just checked my $200 JB Hifi Giftcard. It's valid for 99 years. I guess "no time limit"? Doubt JB Hifi will still be around next century? I know I wont… hehe. Maybe give it to a friend as a Christmas gift? or go on a Christmas shopping spree? or sell it at a discount to someone else on gumtree. There is also a "Charity Box" near the cash register at JB Hifi, I have seen people donating their JB Hifi Giftcards to charity for a good cause.

Card Type JB HiFi Gift Card Australia
      Issue Date 11/04/2018
      Expiry Date 11/04/2117

      P/S: I wonder what's $200 worth in year 2117 considering the inflation

You need to tick the box "Allow Private Messages" under settings. "Check this box to allow users to initiate private conversations with you. This does not affect existing conversations."

Alright everyone, this is still working but it does take true grit. Thanks for everyone posting on here.

For those who are still trying to get the deal, here's a step by step of what I did.
    1. Go to Telstra online Chat. Choose Mobile on a plan > Bill, Plan or add-ons
    2. An automated bot will initiate the chat, say "I have a billing issue" Write that exactly. Proceed with the prompts and he'll connect you to an operator.
    3. State to the operator "I understand there is a $10 port in bonus for new telstra customers"
    4. They will ask for your name, DOB and phone number
    5. State again that you're a new customer by typing "I am a new customer :)"
    6. They will say yes
    7. Say, Okay great, I am going to go in store and get the Pixel XL 2 59 Family and Friend Deal, thanks for your time have a great day"
    8. Save the chat by clicking the plus button on the left hand side of chat
    9. Sometimes they will say, "hold on hold on" but I got once them to say that was fine.
    10. Goto JB Hi Fi or Telstra and get the phone + earbuds + google home (JB only)
    11. Goto chat again as per instruction 2 + 3 and give them your Order ID
    12. I said I was porting a number and I was eligble for the $10 discount. If you want to push it, ask for 5GB as well.
    13. They then said I would need to call them 132200
    14. Call Telstra and they will say it isn't available.
    15. Tell them you have a transcript. They will advise you to go in store and give them the transcript to get a Interaction Number
16 Go into store and get interaction number put on your file
    17. Call up Telstra again and get them to look at your interaction number with $10 discount and 5GB data bonus

    1. Repeat steps 1-9 if you're getting rejected. Took me about 30 tries

Please note that I am not responsible for anything

    • Confirmed this works. For others willing to try make sure you get a live chat transcript with a Telstra employee agreeing that the deal will work before getting the deal.

      Thanks a million @rob220

    • what i dont get, how does it work if you goto jb hifi and sign up there

how can you get telstra to change this plan?

      • JB are just a reseller of Telstra.
They sign you up on a Telstra contract so you are a Telstra customer

  • Got two for myself and the OH from JB HiFi Caneland Mackay. Both are black and built in Jan 2018. Screens are amazing, no blue tint issues whatsoever. Gotta have something to do with the build date

  • +2

Signed up for two Google Pixel XL 2 at JB Hifi Blacktown. Got the home mini and headphones included with both of them.

Some tips for people looking to buy and get as many goodies as possible.

    1. Before going into store, speak to billing through the online chat and ask about the $10 port in credit. Dont mention the actual deal you want to apply it to. Just ask that this credit exists. Some people in billing will say that it applies to this deal, so long as you can get them to acknowledge that the port in credit is a thing - some people in the online chat will say that the credit also applies to this $59 deal. But it may take a while for someone to say it does. Took me 12 goes to get a yes.
    2. Once you have it in writing, ask them to provide a reference number for this conversation. It usually looks like this "1-10XXXXXXXXX". Once you have this, theres a very high chance you will get your discount.
    3. Go to JB and sign up. When you are signing up, you will be with the sales person for a while because it takes time to get stock, do the contract, etc. Get to know them, be their mate… then say, "i heard that theres a 5gb bonus for telstra customers? Any chance of getting it applied to this service?" If you are getting more than one phone, they can combine the two phones onto one bill and apply 5gb to each. This data is then pooled. So you will get 15gb + 15gb + 5gb + 5gb = 40gb total .
    4. After you have the phones and its all done at JB, head onto the Telstra online chat armed with the reference number from your previous conversation and ask about the port in credit. They will likely say that this deal is already discounted and no further discounts apply. When you give them a reference number, these problems disappear and the credit will be applied. They will then give you anothe reference number to confirm this. Record it, in case telstra decides to remove it later on and you can kick up a stink.

    5. If you arent into google home mini's, sell them online and use the funds to buy a nice case to protect your new phone

    • 12 goes to a yes to $10 deal or $10 deal applying to $59 deal?

Why did you need reference # prior to purchase? To derisk the conversation?

Why JB and not a telstra store?
      Thanks

      • Sorry, wasn't very clear about that. Try and get a yes to the $59 deal. I would get the reference Prior to purchase so you're not disappointed if you don't get the discount.

I chose JB because I thought that their telco sales staff would be less strict and more chill than Telstra sales staff.

        • Just FYI, I found the Telstra store offered the 5GB bonus upfront, whereas the chick at JB Hi-Fi had never heard of it & had no idea of how to apply it.

  • @sydney11 I'm a bit late, could you send me your magic transcript? Thanks!

  • I've been asked for a friend's contact number who is already on the plan to confirm that the $10 porting is applied before they can strike me a deal via Telstra Chat.
Anyone kind enough to share their number? :)

Else I'll try gain later. 2 online chats so far without luck, have been offered the 5gb though.

    • It's a trap!

      • that's alright, managed to speak to someone else and they said they'll apply the $10 porting discount. Off to JB during lunch I guess, needed a new plan.

  • okies, please someone help me. I've signed up and got the JB voucher on 14/04/18. I talking to Telstra live chat person right now and he just told me that my order status is still pending and I can cancel it and sign up for other offer.
is it okay to do so? will JB cancel my $200 voucher if I do that? is everyone on pending status when they change their plan to the new one? please somebody explain this.

    • I'm wondering if someone would share their mobile number who's had a success with the port in $10 credit. please pm me.

        @crazyleo
        This is what I did:

The Telstra consultant asked me for "my friend's" contact number to verify which plans and discounts he was offered. I simply replied "I'm sorry, I cannot give you my friend's mobile number. It's a private number. As a Telstra customer myself, I also don't want anyone to access my account or details of my plans without my authorisation. I hope you understand where I am coming from."

His reply: Yes of course. I will see what I can do.

        1 minute later

His reply: I have spoken to my Manager and he has approved your 10 dollar discount and Bonus Data.

    • +1

      @crazyleo
No, my plan was not "Pending" when I got the Giftcard. In my case, I had to wait until my number was ported in successful to Telstra before they would give me the $200 JB Hifi Giftcard. Instead of waiting around at the store, I just came back the next day to collect my giftcard. My plan has been "Approved" when I got the giftcard, I got two emails from Telstra (about the plan/critical summary) and a txt message welcoming me to the Telstra network.

Then I contacted Telstra to upgrade my plan to the $59 Family and Friends plan. For the new plan, the status was "PROCESSING", an order number will be issued and emailed to you. It takes a few days for the Phone and gifts to be delivered to you from the warehouse. After that the order should be completed.

I don't think they will cancel your $200 giftcard if you cancel your oder. But you need to make sure you will not be paying an early termination fees. It is after all a 12 months contract. You might be able to argue that you are still within your "Cooling off period" or you are simply just upgrading plans to another Telstra plan.

  • Anyone been able to do this upgrade as an existing Telstra customer? I have tried online via chat but they wont offer it to me without porting out.

    • I think it's only port in for new customer ( more than 3 months away from Telstra network).

    • @ ledzep

I have heard of someone (Mewinneryay, page 17) who had a Telstra number, who ported out to Vodaphone for 1 week and was able to port back into Telstra to get the same deal.

I believe I read about an existing Telstra pre-paid customer able to get this deal simply by signing up to a Telstra post paid plan (notfrodo page 6)

Of course, these are very rare cases. Just imagine the number to tries we have to contact Telstra and the hassle Telstra puts us through just to get a -$10 discount and +5GB data bonus. Can you imagine how much more effort it would take to find someone in Telstra who might agree to offer the same deal to an existing Telstra customer?

    • I have. Took me about 20 chats.

  • +1

Talked to telstra for $10 discount and said they would apply it. My first bill just arrived and its $60.90, will have to wait for the detailed version.

    • Worst case, tio will sort it

  • Would it be possible to buy a pre-paid from Vodaphone or Optus, and then port the number over to get this deal? I don’t mind having a new number, I use Facebook Messenger anyway.

    • @Balake
Yes, most definitely. I ported in from a $2 Lebara Sim (Vodafone network)

      • Thanks! I’ll buy a cheap pre-paid and port over.

  • So in the end they did not apply the $10 discount after claiming they would on telstra chat, could someone advise what my next course of action is?
Should I present my transcript to a telstra store? Not too sure about this now..

    • @rickyricardo6
Suggest to contact Telstra chat 24/7 to get them to rectify the problem
You may refer to bloum's case on Page 15 (bloum 04/04/2018 - 00:32)

  • I joined $49 BYO plan with JB-HI and now trying to switch to $59 mobile plan with Telstra but two reps advise google home mini is not coming with the phone. What should I do now?

    • try different stores. its a package deal

  • When I buy a sim to port over, will I need to activate it in another phone?

    • +2

      @Balake
I bought a $2 Lebara SIM card from Woolworths on a Sunday evening
Then activated the Lebara SIM via phone on Monday morning (you can use any phone)
Onced activated, you will have a new Lebara mobile number
I approached JB Hifi to have my new mobile number ported from Lebara to Telstra on Tuesday. (I only went to JB Hifi because of the $200 giftcard deal they had)

There were some unexpected delays, I rang up Lebara to make inquiries. Lebara told me I need to top up a minimum of $10 before I could port out. But about 30 minutes later, I received a call from Telstra saying my Port In to Telstra was successful. They apologized for the delay. In short, I didn't have to Top Up my Lebara SIM before porting out. Total cost $2.

      • Okay thanks! I’ll buy a sim next week.

  • Hi, is the phone locked to Telstra?

  • +1

Hey guys not sure if this will help anyone but some operatives seemed to have not applied the port-in discount immediately - and thus it doesn't seem to apply to the current bill, which shows ~$60 on my bill.

So I contacted Telstra and at first they were a bit reluctant but eventually gave me a $10 dollar credit for my current bill too. I tried to emphasize the point that I thought I would get the discount immediately and I think that did it.

TLDR; first bill may not have $10 discount. Need to chat with them to get it.

  • @Sydney11
You the man for all the assistance with your transcript to this deal.

  • Is there a link for $200 JB HiFi gift card coz my friend signed up at JB but didn't get the gift card.

  • when i try to switch from BYO plan to $59 plan, i was told the offers no longer available, no google home mini, no wireless earphones, no $10 credit (although i have chat history confirmed by a rep previously) and no extra 5GB.

The rep advised there is a team reviewing the $10 credit and 5gb given to other customer previously and will remove it from their account. I am not sure is it true.

P.S. only all black is available but i want black and white, is anyone willing to swap? thank you.

  • +1

I will just confirm I signed up for this deal this morning. Got the Pixel 2 XL WHITE, google mini home and earphones. Wouldn't give me $200 gift voucher.

Then I had to go to the online chat 3 times to get the $10 monthly discount and 5GB extra data.

The first time i asked for both and the person said that deal isn't offered anymore.

The 2nd attempt I started the chat by saying "I want to inquire about the $10 discount for porting my number over" and the person confirmed that deal and applied to to my account after asking for some details.

Third attempt I once again started started the convo with with "I want to inquire about the 5GB bonus data for porting number over" and the person confirmed and applied it for me.

Make sure it's a different person each time as the the guy on the 2nd chat said I can only get one or the other and not both. But if you do it separately like what I did you end up getting both :)

    Hope this helps…

    • Be sure to check they actually do it. Ive done it a few times and no one actually applied these things. They eventually did after I kicked up a stink

      • Well I checked the data and it's definitely applied, just need to wait for my first bill to see if the $10 discount is done. I also got them to email me a reference number too so I can kick up a stink with them if they don't.

  • Planning to get this over the weekend is the offer with $200 cashback still available from JBhifi ?

    • I thought this didn't work because the Pixel XL 2 plan requires you to be a new Telstra customer not an existing one?

    • Im pretty sure these are two separate deals.

Google Pixel offer doesnt come with $200 JB card.

The sim only $49 deal with 25gb comes with $200 jb card

    • There is no $200 cash back deal.

  • was the $200 offer available @ JBHifi and only stopped recently ?

    • It was never valid for this offer. A handful might have received it due to staff error.

      • +1

        It's kinda complicated or messy

It's not a $200 Cashback from JB Hifi. It's actually just a $200 Giftcard from JB Hifi, so you really don't get paid in cash from JB Hifi.

        There are actually two deals
DEAL ONE: JB HIFI Exclusive Deal (also known as Telstra Hero Plan) https://i.imgur.com/fh8cgkC.jpg
$59-$10=$49 per month, 15GB+10GB=25GB Data, Unlimited Call and Text, 12 months and $200 JB Hifi Giftcard

DEAL TWO : Available at JB Hifi and Telstra https://i.imgur.com/flw4IUI.jpg
$59 per month, 15GB Data, Unlimited Call and Text, 24 months, a Phone*

Phone* : There are actually a few phone you could opt for which as follows: (Zues981 on Page 3/4.He works for Telstra)
        - Google Pixel 2 (Out of stock), Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB, iphone 6 (32GB) and Telstra Signature 2
        - Getting the a Google Pixel 2 or Google Pixel 2 XL will include a free Google Home Mini and an Aiaiai Earphones
        - Most people would take the Google Pixel 2 XL (best bargain)

If you signup for DEAL TWO, try convincing Telstra Chat (Telstra 24/7) to include a discount of $10 per month and additional 5GB data per month. It's a special bonus for "New Port-In Telstra Customer". It might take several attempts before they approve it.

If you managed to get Telstra to include this special bonus for New Port-In Telstra customers, your final plan for DEAL TWO should be:
$59-$10=$49 per month, 15GB+5GB=20GB Data, Unlimited Calls and Text, 24 months, a Phone of your choice (including Google Home Mini and Aiaiai Earphones if you select Google Pixel 2 XL)

There are a few lucky individuals who got an even better deal, some managed to convince Telstra Chat to include Unlimited International Calls and Text, even more bonus data (some managed to get 25GB Data), etc… of course it really depend on who you speak to and how you "present your case" (case by case basis)

DEAL ONE is also known as Go Mobile Plus BYO $59.
DEAL TWO is commonly known as Family and Friends Go Mobile Plus BYO $59. You might ask heh… why is it BYO plan when you get a phone included? Ahhha… the Google Pixel 2 XL is actually FREE. Which is another reason why it makes little difference if you choose Google Pixel 2 or Google Pixel 2 XL. It's FREE anyways. There is zero repayment cost for the phone.

There is a clause that states you are entitled to upgrade your mobile plan (not downgrade, only upgrade). The Telstra system recognizes both DEAL ONE and DEAL TWO as Go Mobile Plus BYO plans. And if you are signing up to a 24 months contract from a 12 months contract, that is by definition an upgrade. I suspect this is the reason why the Telstra representative confirmed with me that I could upgrade my plan from DEAL ONE to DEAL TWO
        https://www.telstra.com.au/support/category/mobiles-tablets/plans/how-do-i-change-my-mobile-plan

        • +1

This is an email I received from Telstra confirming "there is no device repayment". The Google Pixel 2 XL is actually Free. It even has the same Plan name "Go Mobile Plus BYO $59"
          https://i.imgur.com/Hlmt0BH.png

As you can image, this deal/deals is/are really messy. I am not surprised that Telstra Chat representative from India finds it difficult to understand and gives conflicting information. Even I finds it unnecessarily complex and difficult to wrap my head around this deal.

        • @Sydney11:

That is correct, the plan itself has no device repayment component. BUT … if you terminate early there is a early payout for the remaining value of the phone.

        • There is a clause that states you are entitled to upgrade your mobile plan (not downgrade, only upgrade).

Does this mean that if you signed up to deal one, and move up to deal two and get the phone, that there may be a case to argue for the original benefits of deal one (data and monthly cost) considering you are paying more per month?

        • +1

          @gadget:
          @sandman87:
Interestingly Upgrading from DEAL ONE to DEAL TWO did not trigger any Early Termination Payment. Or another way of looking at it is any Early Termination Payment has been waived.

If you remove all the "ADD-ONs" Free Bonus, Free Phone, Free Gifts, Promotion, Special Discounts, etc… whatever you want to call them, they are essentially the same Plan, hence both shares the same name (i.e. Go Mobile Plus BYO) with one exception, your contract period.

Both plans originally costs $59 per month
Both plans originally offered only 15 GB Data per month
Both plans offers unlimited local call and text
DEAL ONE is 12 months and DEAL TWO is 24 months
Everything else in its original form is identical.

When you upgrade from DEAL ONE to DEAL TWO, they will remove all the "ADD-ONs" in DEAL ONE (with the exception of $200 JB HIFI Giftcard, external to Telstra system) and suppose to give you all your new "ADD-ONs" from DEAL TWO and extend it to 24 months contract.

At the end of the day, both cost $49 per month (after all standard "ADD-ONs"). You are not paying more per month. Yes it is true DEAL ONE has 25GB Data while DEAL TWO on has 20GB Data, can you ask for more data or ask them to match DEAL ONE's data allowance of 25GB?

There is no harm asking for it, if that's what you really want. What is the worst that could happen? They probably just going to say No. They will continue to say No to your first few attempts until you can convince them otherwise. As stated above, there were a few lucky individuals who managed to get Telstra to agree to give them even more data allowances, Unlimited International Calls and Texts, etc… included in their package.

Personally, I don't need more data and I seldom make international calls. It's not that I don't think I could present a case to get them, I choose not to ask for them. I am after something else :) It takes a lot of time, patience and determination when dealing with Telstra. Definitely not for the faint hearted.

        • @Sydney11: sorry is that possible send the email to me please

        • Hi there, aren't both deals for port in customers only? How do you manage to upgrade from DEAL ONE to DEAL TWO if both are exclusive for port in customers only.

        • +1

          @rickyricardo6:

I highly do not recommend doing this unless you want a massive head ache cause I've just been through it…
Ordered DEAL ONE. Got the $200 Card and called up Telstra Sales and they stated they could not upgrade me as the option was greyed out.
They had to cancel the order and WAIVE the $374 early termination fee and then sign my wife up again! About 4 phone calls and almost two hours spent. So now we have DEAL 2 and I have just jumped on live chat who were unable to apply the discount or data yet as it is still going through the system. Have been advised to wait 24hours. Do have chat transcripts of being promised the data and discount though so fingers crossed. We actually lost the port in number with DEAL 1 and they have to give us a new number now…
Not too concerned as our idea of getting DEAL 2 was to use it for the kids iPad. We had a Kogan sim under wife's name (purchased the $4.95 XL 23GB new customer deal).

Worth it? Too early to tell…
Would I do it again? Absolutely not… that operator saying "sorry we can't do that you'll have to go back to cancel" caused me a giant head ache.

@Sydney11: can you confirm how you did yours? Was this the same process?

That's the short version. Of course, I too have to make several calls/visits to Telstra to get things moving. It's a lot more hassle and time consuming than one might expect. It's still a good bargain even without the $200 JB Hifi Giftcard.

        • @Sydney11:

Does your first bill show $49. I am going to just accept the first bill at $59.
Telstra instore has confirmed the discount but says the first bill is always in full…

        • @R3XNebular:
Yet to receive my first bill :)

  • Just bought this plan and also got the $10 discount along with 5gb data. In-store poster of the plan said it is not compatible with the $10 port-in discount but I still did it through online chat. Was unable to get the international minutes.

  • Thanks OP…contracted on Saturday 14th, connected today, ported from Kogan pre paid, Chat confirmed $10/month discount with an email..will hit up the 5GB tomorrow. All good.

  • Hey guys I read a bunch of posts and still quote confused about my situation. I'm a optus customer never been with telstra so to get the best deal should I port my number to telstra via jb hifi and getting 200 then ask telstra chat about Google pixel xl bundle?
    Cheers

    • I just got the Google bundle, it came taped together in JB HiFi store, Home mini and a headset and black P2XL…..I asked for Family and friends plan but ended up with this.. Plan…"You've chosen to sign up on the Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan - $59..the Device You've chosen Google Pixel 2 XL 64GB for 24 months"… it took 4 days to Port, as soon as I had 4G I went to Chat and asked for Porting discount of $10/mth..pretty straightforward, got an email confirming $49 for 24mths..I am happy with that.. I will try for the 5GB today but honestly won't worry me if I don't get it…

The $200 JB credit deal is a different deal to what I done…read back a few posts.

    • +1

Yes, that’s the way a few have been doing it

    • There is a way, I've done it. Wouldn't do it again as you are at the mercy of Telstra whether they cancel/upgrade the initial JB Hifi plan you signed up with. They had to waiver the early termination fee before changing plans for me. Not worth the time and effort. Was on phone for over two hours.
