  • Was looking at this the other day and they said there was a 10% reduction for ww rewards members.

I am assuming this does not stack?

    • +3

I think the 10% discount you're referring to is for the Recharges, not the Starter Packs.

    • many thanks.

    • +9

No. 2000pts only gets you $10 off your shop that you would have otherwise paid for with a discounted gift card. Zero sum game.

      • True true, thanks for the update.

    • +6

Not really. You're getting $10 worth points to buy $10 worth of groceries for $9.50.

Without the offer you still would have spent $9.50 to buy $10 worth of groceries.

    • You are not making money, you are just effectively getting this for free, big difference. I.e. you cannot have $10 cash because of this offer. On the contrary, you actually need to have $10 to start with to take up this offer. You pay $10 (or $9.50 discounted card), then 2000 ($10 credit) goes into your card, then you can spend on other things at WW up to $10 for free.

      • How do You get a discounted gift card?

        • Cash rewards

  • +2

When do you need to activate the sim card by ?

    • +1

      • +1

        Nice. Stock up from now.

        • +2

Just remember, you can only earn points once per rewards card.

        • @headphonejack: Got 4 different cards. You can also apply for more. Oh well, cannot be that greedy

        • +1

@yht: This purchase must be gone through the service counter. You really can not be greedy.

        • @Neoika: We can go to a different store ?

        • @Neoika: Oh, you can't buy it through self check out..?

        • Haha will do ;) thanks for the reminder mr yht yoghurt

        • @illumination: I checked the card on the giftcard rack instore. It is just ad card,no SIM card in it,not like an Optus prepaid pack.

  • No international roaming for those wondering

    • Hm that doesn't sound right. I'm sure I've had roaming on Woolies Mobile before..

edit: Looks like you're right. Type "roaming" and then search. Click on "Can I use my mobile service overseas?"

I'm sure they had it though - pretty sure I used it with them once. In any case, really good to know and thanks for sharing!

    • It's coming by the end of the year, maybe.

  • I wonder whether the 2000 bonus points of a once off. Or for each purchase.

    • Once per card.

      • Does bonus points expire?

        • +2

          I don't think so…

          Edit: Yes they do.

6.5 Any unused Points balance of less than 2,000 Points (i.e. $10 Woolworths Dollars) in your Account will expire after 18 months from the date on which you last scanned your Card or completed a transaction with your Linked Online account.

  • Anyone knows the validity period of the SIM starter pack? I just started on a 35-day one with Voda and prob port over after?

    • 30 days

    • 12 months to activate

      • 12 months from date of purchase?
I thought each pack put the expiry date at the back…?

        • +1

Just reading up in the comments and repeating

I’m grabbing one tomorrow / so will report back

        • +2

@scanuck: SIM Starter Kits can also have the expiry date extended by Woolworths Mobile CSRs.

        • You are correct, expiry will be on the pack.
Usually at least 12 months, with activation possible even after expiry.

        • @headphonejack:

I just bought one on 14/03 with expiry 08/11

        • @jdr:

          expiry 08/11

          What year?
          Did you receive bonus points?

        • +1

          @headphonejack:

Sorry, yes 08/11/18. It was the last one they had so I couldn't compare to any others because the gurus at Woolworths have not managed to get stock for the special this week out in time to either store I tried.

        • +1

i got today and it was 15/04/2019
I think depend on the store stocks.

        • +1

          @headphonejack:

          Did you receive bonus points?

Sorry I missed your second question before. I checked my points now ans can only see the normal points, no bonus 2000. Maybe that comes later?

  • If I've got a Telstra USB wifi stick lying around, will a Woolies SIM work in it, since they run off the Telstra network?

    • +1

Probably still network locked to Telstra and will need to have it unlocked to work on Woolworths.

    • +1

Telstra devices from the past 4 years or so require unlocking to work with resellers.

      • Thanks for the responses.

Telstra punks! I'll have to keep an eye out for cheap Telstra recharges.

We're in the middle of moving house and don't have home internet. I'm a cheapskate on phone plans and don't have much data. Living without internet in 2018 … so weird.

  • -6

4GB for $10 - not really very competitive. -> Kogan

    • 4GB Data
Unlimited standard national calls and texts
      Data rollover~ (up to 15GB)
150 minutes standard international calls to 10 countries plus $100 international credit for other countries+

  • -3

No international calls. There is an add on for that.

    • +1

150 minutes standard international calls to 10 countries plus $100 international credit for other countries+

      • +1

That’s great, if it so I’ll buy it tmr. Thx

  • -2

I have to go into my local ww to hide a starter pack somewhere ….. Otherwise it will be all gone by noon

    • +3

The thing that looks like a woolworths $30 starter pack on the store shelves is just paper, you buy the actual starter pack at service desk. At least that's how it works at my local store, here's a picture of what's on the shelf: https://imgur.com/a/BWikJ . So hide that paper anywhere you want, they will still all be gone by noon.

  • Limit of one sim card per one rewards member:(

  • DO you need woolies rewards card to purchase this??

    • +4

Anybody can buy it for $10 but without a rewards card you don't get the $10 returned in points.

  • -1

The 2000 bonus offer is not on Woolies mobile website anymore. Is the offer still on?

    • +2

What do you mean? It's here

      • +1

The direct link works but clicking through from the Woolworths web site
        Mobile Home > Offers >
You can't actually get to it.

Terms and Conditions state "Offer available between 28 Feb 2018 to 20 Mar 2018."
        So should still be available.

  • I am a bit confused, please clarify:
    - Can I buy egift card from Cashrewards, 5% off
    - then go to a shop a buy te starter kit with $10 deduction from the gift card
    - and still get th 2000 points?

    Thanks.

    • +1

      Yes

    • +3

      Clarifying:

      • Yes (so it will cost you $9.50)
      • Yes - you'll pay $10, which cost you $9.50, so you've effectively paid $9.50
      • Yes, you'll get 2000 points added to your WWR balance, which is worth $10, which will come off your next stop
  • +2

Do you know if the 2000 points offer is targeted or not? the direct link provided by 5ingh is not publicly available, also it says "Exclusive pre-paid offer" from that link, i can't find any email mentioning this at all. I think @infidel said it's one of his targeted offers

    • The link provided by 5ingh does mention ‘Member exclusive’ (Rewards members), but the fine print does not say ‘exclusive to you,’ like it does in the usual targeted emails.
But I can’t say for sure, so I’ll put a disclaimer in the OP.
      Thanks for picking that up.

      • +1

        Thanks for picking that up.

The credit goes to the ASIO for tipping me off on 51ngh's false advertising :)

Now 51ngh's post is changed to Targeted

        • That's because I reported it.

    • +1

Received only 1 email (out of many Rewards Cards). Has link to 2000pt offer shown in deal. Probably bought SIM with that account in 2012!! & they miss me ;-)

Sounds pretty targeted unfortunately. Was hoping for nearly a free year of SIMs😞

Will try purchasing tomorrow & see if I get points.

      • Email received 1/3.

      • Did you end up buying one And get bonus points Bruce?

        • Bought tonight. Was holding out to use with $10 off $40 shop offer on same card - but Woolies Mobile is excluded on that offer.

Despite receiving targeted email offer ("Simply go in store and make your purchase before 20 March 2018 and instantly earn 2000 bonus points") & buying with that targeted Rewards card, no points added on receipt😞

Only upside was plenty of stock at local W - with expiry Nov2018.

Confusing offer details of when points will be added:
          ^instantly earn 2000 bonus points
^Your bonus Woolworths points will be automatically loaded onto your Woolworths Rewards card and
^may take up to 5 business days from the end of the promotional period to be loaded

Woolies staff member agreed I should qualify according to Woolies offer - not that that counts.

Strange lomie earlier claimed points appeared on receipt even though they weren't targeted??

        • @Infidel: The "may take up to 5 business days …" is just a generic disclaimer tagged onto every offer's T&C. If you don't get your points immediately, it's unlikely you'll get it after the end of the promo. I've had it happen before when i got an offer for instant bonus points but failed to appear on the docket, rang Woolworths rewards was told to wait 5 days after the promo ends, but points never arrived, had to call them again for manual adjustment.

In the case of lomie it's indeed very strange for someone to get it without getting the offer when someone like yourself didn't

        • @bonz:
Yes, will check points Monday week (5 days after end of promo) & contact W if don't appear. W have been good with manual adjustments.

No one except 1 person reported bonus points appeared on receipt, which is not what was expected.

Bit risky expecting points when buying using non-targeted Rewards cards. Could ask for $10 refund if points fail to appear.

A lot of hassle unless you really want these discounted SIMs. (I don't, unless effectively free. Kogan have spoilt me.)

  • Anyone bought it yet?

  • Woolworths Rundle Mall SA doesn’t have any in stock, what a shame.

  • +1

    I bought today 8:41
There is nothing on docket to indicate this deal.
I logged into EDR site and cannot see any bonus.
I was unable to pay with egift card. The item was declined.

    • +1

Thank you, I have updated the post.

      • +1

        From T&C:
'Your bonus Woolworths points will be automatically loaded onto your Woolworths Rewards card and may take up to 5 business days from the end of the promotional period to be loaded'
I don't think is targeted, but I guess until someone confirms having received the points we'll know

  • T&Cs say
Your bonus Woolworths points will be automatically loaded onto your Woolworths Rewards card and may take up to 5 business days from the end of the promotional period to be loaded.

    They are refundable.

I've bought some with intention of returning for refund if the points don't come through.

Crows Nest NSW does not have any in stock this morning.

  • Went to buy one this morning. Expiry on back was November. I wanted it for Dec/Jan. Overseas visitors

    • Did you receive any bonus points?

      • +1

        Probably he didn’t buy it

      • +1

        Sorry Didn't buy it.

    • If you get the bonus points I'll swap you for an April 2019 expiry.

    • +1

I've had a sim expire in Dec and only just activated in end of January

      • +1

I'm still working on this batch, expiry 8/17

  • +1

Purchased for $10, but no bonus points.

  • Found one hidden behind some other sim cards at Sydney Town Hall. The cashier even asked where I found it. Sim expirty April 2019.

The docket doesn't mention the bonus points, and it doesn't show up as earning any points on the Woolie's Rewards website. Maybe it shows up later?

  • It is possibly targeted to EDR card holders that have not used Woolworths Mobile before. I've been a WM user before. I logged into WM site and did not see the bonus points offer on starter kits, but I do see 10% offer on recharges.

  • No stock at Brentford Square or Forest Hill, VIC.

  • How do I know if I am targeted?

    • +1

If you got a promo email.

  • +4

I didn't get the promo email. Bought a SIM pack and got the bonus points and the $10 was immediately applied after scanning my EDR. So effectively free.

    • Have you used the EDR with a Woolworths Mobile account before?

    • You seem the only successful one.

I received this offer, used the Rewards card in that offer, but no bonus points appeared on receipt - only the 1300+ points I already had.

T&C state Points may appear 5 days after end of promo…
