  • This is the best one right?

  • Sweet - Ordered, I have been waiting for this deal to come up again!

  • These are good and can be taught to use Google home

    • How did u get this to work with Google home

      • Set them up as lights and connected the home to the broadlink intelligent home centre app. Then painstakingly made scenes for each of my commands. Took a while but it works now. I can turn on my aircon, xbox, TV and sound bar all at once. Currently the only strategy of you suck at networking and coding.

  • Can they be controlled by Amazon Echo Plus?

  • +1

US$12.34 if you don't need RF transmission
    https://www.lightinthebox.com/new-upgrade-version-broadlink-…

I've got these controlling my reverse cycle A/C units, TV, DVD, Amp etc

    • I’ve got one too but I can’t het it to work properly with my Mitsubishi Electric A/C. It can learn the basic functions one by one but it doesn’t get recognised automatically(can’t have the fancy A/C remote layout)

      • +1

Me too. My Mitsubishi Electric AC power code is recognised, but when trying to use it, it turns the AC on, but it doesn't open the vent or cool. I had to manually set up my favourite settings (eg, cool 24, auto fan) and assign a button to that, rather than being able to use mode and temp up and down controls.

Edit: This is with an RM Mini 3

        • +1

RM Mini 3 works fine with my ME air con unit.
Selected manufacturer then it was the 29 out of 30 one that worked.

        • @whatisk: Thanks. I'll give that a go. I didn't know we could select a manufacturer; I've only used the auto recognition based on pressing a button on the remote.

        • @puffinfresh:

I only tried manufacturer as every time I tried using the automated method I would get an error saying server timeout or something so had to go that path.

        • @whatisk: what app are you using? IHC?
UPDATE! IT WORKS! i had to go to Add appliance/Air conditioner/Mitsubishi and then "no remote". It was the code 29 out of 30!
          Thank you whatisk

          @GregFiona:

Awesome! Glad you got it working :) Sorry for my lack of detail as to which app, etc.

Now what you can do if you have a Google Home is add IHC into there and control via voice. I set up a couple of scenes for what I wanted. Eg: turn on air con and set to 24 degrees cool, turn off air con, etc

        • @GregFiona: I've been using e-control, which doesn't appear to have the option to add devices manually. I couldn't get IHC to find my Boardlink RM Mini 3 device.

        • +1

@puffinfresh: My RM Mini 3 appears normally on IHC. I was using e-control too but I switched to IHC for Google Home compatibility

        • +1

@GregFiona: Thanks. I tried again and got it to find my mini, and code 11/30 worked for me.

  • How does this compare to Xiaomi version> https://www.lightinthebox.com/xiaomi-universal-ir-remote-con…

    • +1

As far as I know, the Xiaomi is only infrared (IR). OP's link also handles things based on RF (radio signals).

      • Thats a shame as would be nice to have all xiaomi gear

        • Of course it depends what you're trying to control. The only RF device in my home is my garage door. I must have close to a dozen IR devices scattered around the home for which the xiaomi device would be fine (as is the cheaper rm3 mini that I linked above).

        • +1

@newdad: i have rf ceiling fans

        • @asa79: if you decide to give the broadlink a try, I'll be interested how it goes. I've got a couple of'ancient' ceiling fans that I'll need to replace in the next few years and had been wondering how I might be able to connect them into my home automations. It hadn't occurred to me that newer fans might be RF.

  • I have an aldi light/fan controlled by 433MHz remote….. would this work as I have 5 and each remote only work with each fan/light (naturally)

    • +2

Yeah it does here is the product page.

      • I know it does RF but are you saying that it confirms it does the Aldi fan on the product page? Cause there is nothing about specific models there that I can see….(Brilliant Lighting / Casalife in particular)

        • It has a learning mode. I don't have an Aldi fan to test it specifically, but it 'should' work. There are no fan categories in the app, so you would have to use the learning mode anyway.

    • I couldn't get it working on my generic 433Mhz power points.

      plus my Evaporative AC remote.

  • I can’t set mine up for RF- doesn anyone know how? Trying to get it to control my garage door

    • +2

A lot of garage doors use rolling codes in which case it won't work with this. Same problem for my gate :(

    • +2

Most modern garage door uses a rolling security code, that's why it doesn't work

    • You can't copy a rolling-code remote which your garage door probably is. There's some discussion about adding another receiver in a previous post.

  • what kind of things use RF? im trying to see if i need RF and if this one has anything different compared to the non RF one

    • If you have to point the remote at the device for it to work (like a TV remote), it's IR. If you can keep it in your pocket and it still works (like a car remote), it's RF.

It won't work with all RF remotes though. It can't emulate a rolling-code remote, like what's usually used on garage doors.

      • Some TV remotes these days are bluetooth, so it can be used in your pocket, but isn't RF.

        • You're right, although technically Bluetooth runs on RF. ;)

    • My dishwasher has an RF remote. It's an integrated dishdrawer, so there's no buttons accessible from the outside. The remote allows me to pause mid-cycle and open the drawer. I can't see myself needing to do that via my phone/voice/internet. However, I hear this integrates with Google Assistant while my RM Mini 3 does not (directly).

  • Anyone know the difference between the RM Pro and RM Pro+?

    • +1

Yeah the Plus model doesn't have the temperature sensor.

      • The plus has less?

        • +2

Haha yeah. Its more of a plus for them cost wise I suppose.

  • Yup, had to order the Pro a few days before at full price. :(

  • Seems to be back up to $28.49 USD?

  • I have ceiling fans which have RF remotes. I wanted to control the fans with google home, therefore bought it.It does not learn the RF very well. I tried using other RF remotes like the one for my theatre screen, it did not learn that either. I am just using it for IR remotes and it does work beautifully with google home (easy set up), though I did not buy it for that purpose. Does anyone know a device which will link my ceiling fans to google home (Lucia remote from beacon lighting)?
    Thanks

  • The deal looks like it expired as back up to $37
