I think I was born with less than perfect eyesight (but still good enough to drive) so I don't have to drive myself crazy chasing 4k on a small screen.

Scotty's deal is way better with 8th gen i7 and MX150 graphics.

You can get it further discounted by using JB gift cards :D

Yeah I understand that the Amazon deal scotty posted is better but just more options :)

Install a new screen what ?? As stated the other deal is way better 8th gen, 256gb ssd and FHD panel

Indeed Scotty's deal has better specs and more savings for what you get.

But - for some this is a still a good lappy bang for buck that you can get quicker with local support claims.

And it's more affordable for some too. I was actually looking at this one last night for comparison but figured wasn't worth posting for me because of scotty's deal. Good job OP for doing it anyway!

    • So you bought Scotty's one?

Am leaning towards it but tossing it up to secretly hope for a better deal around the $650 mark without the bells and whistles.

Been looking for a new one but couldn't justify after an older spec i5-480M with 1tb, 8g, gt520m for $425 after cashback 10 years ago just before the GFC when the AUD was also high.

To get a similar one now will set me back at least $700-$800. So as a moderate ozbargainer I'm finding it hard to spend the extra $$$.

        • Well then why not this one?

  • Contemplating buying at amazon due to warranty (need to send back to Amazon US if need to claim)

Also need 16GB to do some virtualization.

If i need to upgrade to 16b, will cost me another $300 and wste the one of the 4gb or both 8gb ram.

Im looking at spending around 1,000 to 1,300 to get an i7 8th/SSD/16gb
The previous acer nitr at jbhifi was a good fit with 32gb but it only lasted for a couple of days and jb change back to normal price.
