Bonus AU $125 on Eligible Devices When Trading up to Samsung S9/S9+ via Samsung

200

Get an extra AU $125 for eligible devices when trading up from your current Samsung Galaxy phone to the new Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus.

Eligible devices seem to be devices that meet the following criteria:

  • The display is functional, not chipped or cracked and there are no signs of liquid damage, discolouration or LCD bleeding
  • The device is able to power up, hold charge and the battery does not appear to be swollen
  • The enclosure is of original manufacturing and is not cracked, fractured or bent
  • All of the keys and buttons are intact, not partially cracked and are working properly
  • Find My iPhone/iCloud/Android/Google Smart Lock and/or Carrier activation locks and passwords have been disabled

This deal seems to exclude the Samsung Galaxy A-series, Note3, Note8 and the Tab series.

The base credit when trading in phones varies from phone to phone (but seemingly not storage space?).

Terms can be found on their website.

Now it's up to your disclosure whether you think you'll get more money selling it via Gumtree / the Facebook Marketplace (which you probably will) or through doing this!

Trade in value for a galaxy s8 is $575 including this bonus. Going rate on Gumtree seems to be about 600-700 depending on condition/accessories

  • good for a quick sale, but as peb said above, you can get more if you really wanted. It is more than those Mobile Monster places though.

    S7 32gb is $300

Not too bad I doubt i would get more elsewhere. Problem is I'd then have to pay full RRP for the S9

  • It says the S6 $215:
"Includes a bonus $125. For a limited time only, offer ends 15 April 2018."

So would that mean $215 rather than $340?
    Anybody tried it?

    • ye so after 15 april, you are looking at $90 trade-in

  • +1

I already had my phone (S6 Edge plus) assessed for trade-in last week for $300. I would assume that with the bonus trade in would be $425. But no, it is still $300 including $125 bonus

  • S8 64GB is $575…!! ummm should i?

    • +6

      No.

Better to sell it privately and then get the S9 through another deal to minimise the gap you will pay. Rather than get some money back from Samsung and then having to pay RRP for the phone.

  • anyone know if cashrewards 10% can be stacked?

    • It should be. The cashrewards applies when you click through their website, independent of Samsung.

      Cashreward terms:
"Quadruple cashback on now at Samsung! 10% back on everything sitewide."

  • Samsung makes a huge margin on this. Trade in, they'll refurbish and sell it in a different market as a refurb device. Margins would be pretty big

  • Do they accept grey imports? I couldn't see anything in the T&C's excluding them.

I'm considering taking up the offer as the grey S7E I've got has a hardware fault with the camera module which causes the phone to shutdown & restart straight after you take a photo 9 times out of 10. It might get past their 'checks'

    • Just in case anyone else was wondering, they accept 'grey imports'.

I've just returned from a Samsung store where I traded-in my S7 Edge. They gave me $385 for it which I'm happy with considering it's a 'grey import' and the camera fault mentioned above as I'd get bugger all for it if I tried selling it. They only gave the exterior a quick once over for any signs of damage/cracks/chips etc and didn't check anything else. The phone was in pristine condition though apart from the camera fault.

I ended up walking out with a S9+ coral blue for $964.

      • was you S7E a dual sim variant, if yes, did they say anything about it ?

        • +1

Yep it was the dual sim model (SM-G935FD). Didn't say a thing about it.

        • @tight-ass: Thanks mate

      • Hello, my company allow me to salary sacrifice for phone. May I ask if the trade-in value treated as "discount" for the phone? Or treated as "tender / credit" of the phone? Same for the $125 bonus?

        Thanks in advance <3

          it states on the receipt:

          Subtotal 1,226.36
          Tax 122.64
          Total 1,349.00

          TRADE UP 385.00

          Credit Card 964.00

  • Nexus 6P: "Unfortunately your device is not eligible."

  • Not sure if its worth it, but Samsung's price on the S9 and S9+ is quite expensive.

  • Went today to trade an iPhone 6 (64GB) and expecting a good amount. Excellent case owned condition except for a very marginal paint chip (1-2mm) at the bottom of the chassis which probably came when applying removing said case.

Offered $35 for phone plus $125 promotion offer value.

I'd tip it's a bit of a time waster unless it looks pretty new out of the box.

Dude was honest, full amount is only awarded if it's in a condition ready for immediate resale.

    We promptly left.

Just ordered it online. Got $125 off which brought it to $1070 and then quoted $525 for the phone and then cash rewards $107. $438 to upgrade, not bad for the wear and tear of 1 year old software
