And it's 4 stars of deliciousness.

Coco Pops are 36.5% sugar and Froot Loops are 38% sugar. But the winner is Frosties with 41.3% sugar.

Even if it had zero sugar - which it cannot because you wouldn't buy it - starting off the day on grain based carbohydrates is a recipe for overeating which is the single largest nutritional problem in Australia. This is by design to sell more food because often you will reach for more grain based carbohydrates when you have a snack mid morning.

Breakfast cereals were not created because they're healthy way of eating, they were created to sell grain, which is cheap, at high profits through adding sugar and doing whatever processing takes place.

I agree with most of your points, but I'm not sure if the above is true. Personally, I'm amazed how many cereals (even the "gourmet" ones) have added sugar via either sugar or dried fruit. It's pretty much impossible to find any without those two. Can't people handle a non-sweet breakfast?

        • It's pretty much impossible to find any without those two.

Do you consider generic Weet-Bix to be a cereal? No added sugar, no added fruit.

But there's sugar in the milk you would normally pour on it, so the only way to eat without any added sugar is to put butter on them, and eat them like biscuits.

        • @Russ:

Weetbix or oats are fine if you're avoiding sugar but I don't think eating wheat is considered healthy. It's pretty much empty carbs plus whatever added vitamins or minerals they shove in the brix.

From what I can remember, the sugar in milk isn't as bad for you as normal refined sugar or the fructose in dried fruit. I think some people's reaction to lactose is what gives it a bad rep. Use the lactose-free variety or watered down yoghurt as an alternative.

      • What would you recommend instead of healthy cereal for breakfast?………eggs, bacon, sausages? Starch based foods are the foundation for good health.

      And no notification led either.

  • Great effort OP!

  • Does the $30 Telstra sim come with the 12.5GB? Or do you need to recharge another $30 to get the extra 10GB ?
