Nope. Not for this price range. Unless GPU prices have really been that destroyed.

        • @StoneSin: I can definitely build it myself but not too familiar with bang for buck parts

        • @StoneSin: My build would've come out around $200 more if I built it myself. If I got rid of the dvd drive and bought each part from different retailers I could have built it for a similar price excl shipping. It is cheaper if you wait for each part to go on sale individually or if you have some parts from an existing build you can use.

        • @gnarkill:

Really? Care to show me on http://au.pcpartpicker.com ?

I don't see how that is possible.

I build mine all from one retailer and they turn out cheaper. Though of course it depends on budget. Anything below $800 is much harder.

        • @StoneSin: There were a few pcpartpicker examples in historic threads but the prices in pcpartpicker seemed to be higher than what you could find elsewhere/in the ebay sale.

        • @gnarkill:

Oh well, you wouldn't lie. I still recommend anyone who is buying a PC in this budget to never buy pre-built.

You choose the quality when you build yourself and the layout of the machine. I would trust parts in my own build much more than those in a prebuild unless the prebuild had it's part specs listed and sourced.

        • @StoneSin: Yes that's the advantage of building your own. I tend to just buy cheap parts when I build myself anyway. This is pretty much my build or the cheapest equivalent parts, I got it for $1740 incl delivery https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/

        • @gnarkill: You need to get the permalink.

        • -1

@gnarkill: Wtf $800 GPU? Why would you spend so much money on a GPU? Just get a 1070.

You need to research a bit more.

You shouldn't be dropping a grand on a GPU, ever. Unless you're earning like 200k a year and you've already got a brand new mercedez out front.

If I were you, I'd drop the GPU to a 1070 and include a CPU cooler as well as a better motherboard.

        • @StoneSin: I only wanted a 1070 but they are so expensive currently. CPU cooler is working comfortably and should OC fine when i need and the mobo has all I'll need for now.

        • @gnarkill: Still much cheaper and more feature-built than the prebuilt equiv! :P

        • @StoneSin: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/FpGf9J You'd be surprised, it's not a good time to be building or buying a pc unless you need it.

        • @gnarkill:

          That looks more even.

How come that CPU is so expensive? I remember FX6300 being like $100AUD.

I bought at a good time when RAM was low, but even better since 4 years later the crypto scene came.

Remember to buy CPU heatsinks based on reviews not looks. Also try avoid anything with "gaming" in it, it's code for "you are silly and we will charge extra to try make you sound cool".

Also make sure you get the Ryzen with an X (i think that means it's overclockable)

Overclock takes 20mins and is as easy as building the PC. It is useful.

        • +2

          That is simply not true.

        • +1

? There are always warranty for DIY parts???

        • +1

          LOL what?

        • -1

PC parts are still manufactured buddy.

        • +1

lol that wasn't a popular comment.

Guys, in this case superjquando is the manufacturer. You're talking about component warranties. But when the manufacturer stuffs up and snaps the motherboard, no warranty.

        • Ok, I feel chastised. Perhaps I should have said "No system warranty if DIY".

  • Off the subject, but does anyone know of a good S8+ deal on ebay?

    • Awesome, thanks BlazinPast. Looks like fishingonline is missing though and the link has Boohoo Outlet instead of the store. Corrected link

  • No Dan Murphy or First Choice Liquor… :(
    Any store who sells drinks??

    • Graysonline usually has some wine on sale.

      • Thanks.. Wish all all these stores send complementary drink bottles with every purchase.. 🍻🍺😜

Aaah the good old 20% off of inflated prices … mostly the same sellers participate in the same 20% off sales, but I noticed Instyle Hi Fi & The Interior Store wasn't in the previous sale for some reason , and funnily enough their price for the BOSE QC35 Series 2 was $415 for some time whilst that sale was going on..in fact they even had it on sale for $370 during a 2 day period 30/31 March

However, with the supposed 20% sale on tomorrow - what do we have….

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bose-QC35-ii-QuietComfort35-Seri…

    Revision History:
    09-Apr-18
    10:30:10 AEST
    Description
    Buy It Now Price

Price updated from $415 to $460 in anticipation of the sale tomorrow.

No one can tell me that these stores don't actively price jack…
Sure you can say that the 20% off still nets a great "end-price" of $368 for these headphones, but it aint a true sale price!

    • +1

Another one that changed right now…

      From $431 to $476

Every commercial store in existence bloats it's price then reduces it as a SALE… don't get so distressed and just buy from those that don't do it so much.

      • +1

Source for this statement of fact?

        • Do you know what a SALE is? Do you really think they reduce the price by 40% each time?

        • @StoneSin: Yes I know what a sale is. But you're the man with the facts that claims every commercial store in existence jacks up their prices. Every, single, commercial store. Your words, not mine. So I'm interested in where you get this information. I'm looking at current sales at:

          • Big W
          • Woolworths
          • Coles
          • Kmart
          • Nissan
          • Umart
          • Beaumont Tiles
          • Spotlight
          • Anaconda's
          • Harvey Norman

I mean I've tried to be quite broad here. I've compared their prices pre-sale and post-sale… Believe me, no one was more surprised than I to find that contrary to the information you provided they did not jack up the price before the sale.

        • @Tardvark: Yes. Those jack up their prices and then drop them for sales.

        • +1

          @StoneSin: Cool story bro.

        • @Tardvark: Thanks, glad you learnt from it.

      But yes problems accompany

  • Thanks TA!

  • +1

Oh typical…. First 20% off spesh where a Mavic Air Battery is included… But I already pulled the trigger on a 10% off last week…

    • +1

Mavic Air from eGlobal showing current price $999. With 20% off $799. Cheap for grey import. Lets see if the price jacks tomorrow.

      • This is super cheap and I am seriously considering it (in the unlikely case they don't price jack). Just need to suss out if there is an easy way to emulate buying the fly more combo.

        • Extra batteries is probably the biggest plus of the fly more combo. Two batteries is probably a necessity. I upgraded from 2 batteries Phantom Standard to Air. A second battery will be the next purchase.

        • +1

@wakeupaaron: Any good deals on rifles?

    • Couldn't see the Mavic Air battery in the search link above.

      • Yeah, it seems I got over excited. It's been marked as out of stock now prior to the sale….

    • If it makes you feel any better the Australian stock of the Fly more was either de-listed or went up in price just before the code went active.

  • Hey JACKIE!!! haven't seen you recently, but I know you haven't been on Easter Holidays with genuine 5% and 10% off :)

  • ugh. Well I guess that ends any chance of a 10% off storewide deal this week.

  • +9

Is the price jacking just blatant now? Seems like people are starting to accept this practice by foreshadowing people complaining about price jacking.

PUMP those prices up 20% beforehand with PUMP20

  • Lol

  • I wish sony will sell some A7III…..

  • +12

funny how the code is pump20….prices are already pumped 20

  • And I just bought a new (not new) laptop this morning! At least I got the 5% off.

    • +1

Trying to console yourself. Yes, we've all been there. I sympathize with you nonetheless.

      • +1

Yeah. I comforted myself by looking through the 20% deals and seeing that there was nothing that I would have preferred - even with the extra discount.

  • How can I check an item that's been price jacked?

Im going to start reporting as I've noticed the last sale I was looking at a microwave that was 25% higher than the retail store.

With 20% eBay voucher it was still another 5% more than the shops

    • It’s not always easy - Check the price now although a lot of stores do it before the sale is announced.

    • +5

Look at the items that have been previously sold (eg. Click on "31 sold"). That can give you some price history.

      • Also, search for the item in Ebay and then on the left side choose the option "completed items" ("filters" on mobile app)

This will show all previous listings for this item from all sellers and what prices they sold (or didn't sell) for. Prices in green are items/auctions that sold, red are listings with no buyer.

  • -3

Looking for a Hisense 55N7 (or similar) and/or a desktop PC.

  • Seriously is anybody willing to complain about this price jacking to FU Tube? ABC’s The Checkout - anybody have good proof?!?

  • +9

Why so many plus votes when majority of items will be priced up ?

    • +1

      That's what I don't understand either.

I usually wait till I find a bargain then upvote.

    • +5

Link me an eBay deal that has never produced bargains?
