  • This would be an even better bargain than when it was going for with that 50% off.

  • +17

Tons of bad feedback and 24 hour Battery life, so nope.

    • So not even at $100?. I would have thought it would be a right bargain at this price.

      • +4

Already have an amazfit smart band at $60 with similar function and 30 times battery life. Don't get the point of this.

        • +4

These two are a bit further apart, that's more of a fitness tracker whereas this is an actual smart watch (android wear with memory and gps etc.)

        • +1

Please point me to this device with optical hr monitoring and 30 days battery life.

        • @Diji1: garmin fr235 might get close

        • +4

@Diji1: Xiaomi Amazfit BIP. Heart rate and GPS, greater than 30 day battery life ~$75

        • @Diji1: My Xiaomi mi band 2 does optical HR monitoring and lasts between 30 to 40 days between charges? and that is only $30

        • @kelvinv: you must be an early adopter, its under 20 now

        • +1

@kelvinv:the HE monitor on mine only lasted for a couple of weeks then it stopped working.

        • @ausbob71: mine (bought for my son) stopped as well. no warranty.
graphic of BIP is like Nintendo game boy, in comparison to 3DS in RUN IQ.

    • -6

      That's normal for Android watches

    • can you link the reviews you read? thanks I just want to be well informed before purchasing. because the description does say it lasts 5 hours with GPS/HR use.

    • +1

      Very poor Amazon reviews. https://www.amazon.com/NB-RunIQ-Smartwatch-One-Size/product-…

I was fortunate to be able to get a FR235 for not much more a year and a half ago and have not taken it off since. Would pay at least double for decent battery life (around a week without GPS use).

    • If that's the case…. https://youtu.be/mw2kKyJu9gY?t=2m11s

Just purchased (was about to post as well)

I bought as a good running watch - I have my other dress watches to wear through the day so even if battery isn't top notch still good for my needs especially at this price point.

    Plus returns policy definitely helps…

    https://www.newbalance.com.au/customer-service-returns.html

FYI separate watch bands are available for $10 on sale in pink, light grey and red.

    https://www.newbalance.com.au/pd/nb-runiq-watch-band/UA63100…

    • Does the optical HR work without being 10 - 30% wrong and not predictably?

      • If you run, optical is no good.

  • +2

Just grabbed one, the return policy is there if it's bad.

  • Bought one will be interesting to see how it goes.

  • Thanks, just bought one, figured why not. I'm waiting until December hoping for the new watches to come out, so this is a good way for me to see whether I'd use it if I wanted to buy an expensive smart watch or not. Cheers.

  • bought one, thank you

  • +2

    Got one cause u can't get sh*t for $100 delivered…

    • +9

I can send you some of mine for $100. I'll even include postage. Just give me your address.

    • +11

      Got one cause u can't get sh*t for $100 delivered…

Yes you can. In fact it only costs $35.

      • After viewing that page, my office smells like sh!t

  • +8

    Thanks op purchased one.
Please note that all the bad reviews are pre Android Wear 2.0 update.
The update this watch received has apparently fixed most issues including

    • Improved GPS acquisition when paired with an iOS device
    • Updates for overall battery life
    • Google Play Store on RunIQ – no phone needed when connected to WiFi
    • Google Play Music and untethered running for iOS users
    • Customizable watch faces with Complications
    • Improved Bluetooth connectivity when paired with an iOS device
    • Onscreen mile, kilometer and lap notifications are bigger and include the previous split time
    • One of the complaints from other users here is that it only supports Google Play music and not any other music app, I cant believe this is true because the music control functionally is using big standard protocols to my knowledge. Do you have any idea about this?

Edit: see @albert0pia comment just below, looks like WearOS 2.0 fixes this

  • Does it have a built in Mic and speaker for phone calls?

    • Found this online

Note: RunIQ Watch does not have a speaker so you will need to pull out your phone in order to make a call.

I will pass since I like to take calls on smart watch sometimes

      • Yea nothing beats trying to have a conversation with someone on a terrible mic and speaker watch.

  • I was curious but you can only put Google Play Music on the watch, not any other online service or downloaded?

  • Is this watch similar to the samsung gear fit 2?

    • +1

No. One runs Wear OS by Google and the other runs TizenOS by Samsung.

  • +5

"I grabbed the watch from my nightstand, and it had somehow logged about 350 steps in the middle of the night even though I didn’t wear the watch to sleep."

  • Not sure about the love hearts all over the black wrist band.

    • Tell people they're chevrons not hearts

  • Xiaomi Amazfit vs this one???

    • Do you want smart watch features? This
Do you just want a fitness tracker with basic features? Amazfit

      • What smart watch features does the Amazfit lack? Music controls and apps are missing.

        Amazfit does have notifications.

Here is a review based on Wear 2.0

For $100 guess you can’t go wrong.

  • Android wear is still horrible.

You still can't get automatic sleep tracking (needs to be manually activated).

    • Really? Wow that's bad.

    • +1

Try using it on iPhone. It's a joke.

    • +1

      Android wear is still horrible.
You still can't get automatic sleep tracking (needs to be manually activated).

That's a rather specific reason to call Wear OS horrible.

    • We seem to be in a ridiculous situation where people think that computers can read brainwave frequencies … because that's how you track sleep.

Further we seem to be in the even more ridiculous situation where people are believing that a device is tracking their sleep - after telling it when they're going to sleep because it cannot work that out by itself.

I mean are people really thinking about how absurd this is?

      Tulips, computer chips etc.

      • +1

Until you've been a shift worker, you have no idea how useful sleep tracking is.

The fitbit sleep tracking algorithm is actually pretty good and lets you calculate how much sleep/nap time you might need to make up.

Sleep like android is great on Wear OS, but needing to manually trigger it kills it for me.

  • looks like it's sold out

  • The replacement straps should be on further clearance very soon since the watch sold out

  • Awesome deal OP.
Dang sure did sell out fast.

    • +4

$100 no brainer for some who just need a watch that does exactly this.

      • I've been looking at watches for the past couple of week and was going to buy a citizen eco-drive but one of these might do the trick. I probably don't need all the features but why not.

  • Still using the OG LG G Watch along with a Pebble 2. Both watches I find are useful, cant go back to a normal watch after outsourcing the part of my brain that is supposed to remember where I have to be to my calendar.

Not sure if this was worth the upgrade, but for 100 bucks I probably would have taken the punt. The G Watch has actually been lasting a lot longer since I gave up sleep tracking and got the latest update, and buying an extra charger to leave at work has helped a lot. The main issue is that for some reason phone calls arent coming up on the watch but I havent had the chance to troubleshoot this thoroughly, from what I coukd tell nothing is blocked in the WearOS software.

Hopefully more stock will show up somewhere.

    • I use the LG G Watch too. Did you install the 2.0 port?

      • Just checked and it says 1.5, I have only ever used over the air updates and I havent been prompted. Is it a manual install?

  • +2

    its back in stock

  • Back in stock. Just bought one.

  • decided against it despite it being cheep. Reviews was not juicy

    • I nearly bought it just for the trill of it.

  • Isn’t this cheaper during last time 50% code?

  • Awesome - Thanks OP, just bought 1 for me and 1 for the mrs

  • +2

Keeps looping back to the shipping page whenever i try to place the order =\

    • +1

try paypal, it was doing the same until I used that.

      • +2

It's out of stock now. Huhuhuhu

  • +1

Pheew lucky I read the review first before ordering.

Music playback limited to Google Play Music

    https://www.techradar.com/reviews/new-balance-runiq

  • Back in stock? Just bought one.

    • Out of stock now again what the heck is going on haha

      • +1

People are probably adding to their cart and not completing the purchase.

        • received mine today.

  • I got an out of stock email after my order…
And I ordered really early on as well.

  • +1

Bought this for $110 from the last deal. Can be upgraded to 2.10 so it's totally worth it.
I use it lightly only for notifications which easily goes beyond 24hrs.

  • +1

Just got notified my order is on its way

  • Received the watched today… does anyone else feel that one upper/lower button is less clicky than the other when pressed?
Also when it is on charge after syncing the screen keeps rotating continuously and battery levels is reducing eventhough it is on charge

  • Just received mine set it up and it seems quite good for the price.

  • I got an out of stock email this morning and had bought in the second tranche, dont know how that happens but its a bit annoying. I did in the meantime check some pica and for a round watch it looks massive, looks even bigger than the OG LG G Watch

  • Liekwise - received mine today and works great!

  • updated it to the latest android wear 2.11, pretty happy with it actually. im impressed

  • Received mine today. Just updated to AW 2.0. Still playing with it. Seems like a really great watch and a huge upgrade from my trusty Polar RCX5.

A bit on the chunky side, but completely acceptable personally.

Battery life is still a big question mark.

  • +3

Mine arrived today, but it appears i was sent a used one that had been previously returned as being faulty (scuff marks and no protective packaging). My battery won’t charge past 89% and from 89% the battery completely dies in under an hour just browsing through the menus.

This was my first and last New Balance product.

    • did you send it back or did they replace with a new one?

  • Mine arrived today, although used due to scuff marks on charger and what seems either dry skin or dust on band…as expected a bit skeptical however, all will be revealed when it is tested.

    • Just lodged a complaint and requested a replacement. Additionally, the pins on my watch were I guess eroded or discoloured with old sweat, making the watch impossible to charge, there was also a strong smell of someone's perfume or fragrance on the watch.

Quite disappointed, but we will see through their customer support as I believe this a good watch.

      • +1

My watch is also used, dust and fingerprints on the screen and band. Someone had already 'setup the watch, chose language and sync'd it to a phone'
Also the mircousb cable was Not wrapped together using the wire and no protective plastic anywhere on product. Watch was also dicharged to 0%.

The seller for deceiving customers and selling a second-hand product as new.

      • Hi there,

just wonder how did you manage to sort out with new balance in regards to the watch? mine came unsealed too and missing charger cable :(

  • Got mine today. Really enjoying using it so far. Definitely a step up from the original pebble watch I used to use a few years ago. Thanks heaps op!

  • Anybody who mentioned positive remarks, were your watches new?

    • +1

      Yes, brand new

    • Mine came in a box that wasn't sealed (the sticker was there but semi-opened). The watch looks brand new.

Battery life seems pretty decent after upgrading to AW 2.11.

      A keeper for me.

      • It was probably stock from a customer change of mind return.

  • Does it support iPhone? Cant pair.

    • Lol. It's called Android Wear for a reason…

  • got it working. not the new balance app.

    • Update: it does work on iPhone. App name is now Wear OS. Unpair uninstall reset reinstall if you have trouble. Upgrade to new OS - worth $100 for a smart watch.
