  • Is the drone going to be $47 or $49?

    • $47 thanks fixed now.

    • These drones do a cool little flip thing and are pretty sturdy without wind.

  • $99 for a WD 3tb….. I'm hoping they're also doing good pricing on the 2tb version.

I just noticed you can get a WD My Passport 2TB Red for $59 Delivered from Amazon with AMAZON20!!

      • Code doesn’t work

        • +1

It needs to be on a new account that hasn't made a purchase.

        • @doweyy: OK, only one left now. Great price though.

        • I went through the process and bought one for $79 through AMAZON (good price even without the AMAZON20 discount) because they said I qualified for "free delivery" then at the checkout it automatically added $7.99 delivery so I cancelled my order.

        • +2

          @petepurple:

Yeah you needed to select the free shipping option ay the checkout as it may have added the expedited or priority shipping option for default. It's $79 @ Bing Lee so that's who they were matching if you want to try there :)

        • [@doweyy]
Thanks. You'd think if you qualified for free delivery that it would default to that.
I've just redone the order as there was still one for $79 available. Only thing is it's saying June-July delivery? Just as well I'm not in any hurry.

        • @petepurple:

Yeah you would think that hey, really unusual why it defaults to it.

No worries at all, hopefull it gets delivered faster than that!

      • Has anybody tried to price match with brick and mortar store ? i need one in a hurry!

  • How to find details of the sale, all available deals?

    • +6

Not sure I saw these in the paper.

      • +4

        +1 for the effort!

  • Not bad price on the 3tb drive

Dont buy that Starwars drone by Propel. They are horrible. Bought from JB when on sale. Cant even fly straight up vertically in a room. Goes all over the place. Impossible to control. Bought 2 and both were as unbalanced. These would be impossible to control outside. When I took back to JB, the security guy asked what was wrong, and I told him and then he said you are not the first to return these for that reason, there have been heaps. Then said don't say he told me so, just insist on refund. Got to counter and the counter guy asked why and then pretended to say I was the first to return and then called the manager who said the same thing, and maybe I was using it wrong. Said no, I have a few parrot drones (which I do), and have no problems at all controlling them. They kept saying it was weird and they should be by okay. I kept insisting for refund and they gave it to me in the end. Disgusting that they both really did know about the problem and then were working together, pretending there were no issues with the drone. These are only worth while getting as a stationary light and and sound toy and then maybe for $10 only.

Thanks for the feedback. The reviews here seem positive and one does mention its tricky to fly. I'll weigh the pros and cons and decide tomorrow.

      Finicky flight
The one thing the simulation doesn’t get right is the drone’s tendency to drift and alter its altitude on its own. When it comes down to actually flying these drones, you’re finally reminded that these are still toys after all. Without any GPS, or visual positioning, or even ultrasonic sensors like Parrot uses on its bottom-of-the-line AR.Drone, these Star Wars drones behave unpredictably once airborne, requiring almost constant input on the sticks to keep them in a stable hover.
The remote has both calibration and trim functions, but we found these only corrected for massive problems with flight stability, instead of offering a good, clean hover. It will likely take novices dozens of flights to feel a true sense of control, so expect to crash often. The included prop guard will help, but we still managed to break it. Thankfully, the drones themselves are way tougher than their hand-painted shells look.
Is it a deal breaker? Hardly. With no onboard cameras, perfectly stable flight isn’t needed, and when it comes to dogfighting, it’s downright irrelevant — you won’t be stopping to admire the scenery. Propel’s solution to the issue of flight stability is to offer three flight modes, plus a training mode, each of which places different restrictions on vehicle speed, altitude, and stick sensitivity.
In training mode, rookie pilots can get comfortable with the controls and are less likely to careen their ship into a wall accidentally, while the most advanced mode enables a thrilling degree of speed and maneuverability. We found that when pushed to its limits in this mode, the aircraft couldn’t cope with massive and sudden changes in direction, often tumbling out of the air as its gyros failed to compensate for the extreme moves.

I have the X-Wing and love it. I mostly fly inside, but outside is fine so long as there is no wind. It wont hover in place like my DJI Spark, but then there are none of the sensors in the Propel like there is the DJI. A friend bought the Tie Fighter and had heaps of problems flying it, then one day one of the motors stopped working - we both suspect that motor had been on the way out from the start (would still spin, maybe at a reduced speed) and had contributed to the issues.
For $47 they are a good toy, and flying inside develops good skills for the bigger drone outside.

I have 3. One of each and have no problems especially indoors. Could be a bad batch.
If you can’t fly straight up indoors, check the props. They have spares available.
There are different flying dynamics which makes the Tie shithouse at tight turns and the speeder the best in winds.
I actually find these to be the best handling small drone I’ve flown. I bought at $99 and consider it awesome value for money. $47 is just mind blowing.

Did you get your bonus battery?

      • +1

Are you going to buy 3 more and return them with old receipts…? ;)

      • +5

Maybe you just used the "force"

        …much to learn… we have

    • +1

Did you try spinning? That’s a good trick to fix problems like you described

  • Were there other specials available or was that the full list?

(keen to see if the AKG N60NC Wireless will be on special)

    • Not sure if thats the complete list as I saw it in the paper. Have taken some photos with the ads and updated post above if you want to have a look.

  • Got a notification yesterday about a HN carpark sale starting today at my local store. Slipped down to check out the drones and they were $88ea. Are these really going to be $47 tomorrow?

    • I've always wondered about carpark sales - do they actually put stuff out in the carpark?

  • With attitude hold?

I need a switch like that on my wife.

  • Hmmm, wondering whether the Acer Spin 3 is a good deal at $797?
Part of me says yes it is and another part says I can get better specs/value for money.

Not a bad price for the Acer Predator with Nvidia GTX1060 and i7

    • Been looking for a decent gaming laptop for around $1500 and this seems too good to be true hmm… I don't like jumping on purchases when I feel like there's a time constraint though. I like to thoroughly research my items.

The only thing I could fault with this is that the screen isn't Full HD? Any other issues anyone can see/know about?

I wonder if the other laptops will have big discounts too.

      • How do you know its not FHD? I find it hard to believe a 15" isnt 1080p in 2018.

        • I compared a few models on the site, and noticed that it didn't have 1920x1080 in the table, but most others did. I've since been into store today and found that it is in fact FHD. It was my only issue with it, and not being able to find any other excuses, bought it straight away. The salesmen looked it up on his computer and was quite shocked actually, told me it cost him $1700 exc. GST just to buy it so great price!

        • @Pub Envelope:
I found it in a few mins that it was FHD, just by googling the model number. But I was curious I thought you found a source of it not being FHD.

  • I've been looking into getting a scanner and saw that the MG2560 does not come with the required usb printer cable.

    • Probably because most printers (like the HPs) seem to be wireless now. HP does (or has at least done so before) give you a cable too though. I may have a spare HP one here, but don't know if it would be of any use for a MG scanner / printer.

      • +2

The problem is that the printer isn't wireless.

        • Now that is definitely not on then; they simply should have included one. Guve them a ring and complain; maybe an oversight. If you think a HP spare one (just have to locate it) would do the trick let us know. Have a habit of keeping bits and pieces after units have died.

Epson printers are a waste of money. Stay away!

I just heard an Ad on the radio for an Acer Notebook at $198. (I'm in Newcastle)

  • Is the Bissell Featherweight Stick Vacuum worth for $49?

  • is this the one with the fantastic unboxing experience?

music, lights, darth vadar saying his thing etc.?

    • No I'm 95% sure these aren't the collectors versions..

  • Has anyone any experience with the AKG headphones?

    • Oh yes, soo good!
You won't be disappointed for the $$

    • They're actually not too bad for the money. Sound quality is better than what you'd expect from a $100 pair of headphones with bluetooth thrown in. They're a little heavier and bulkier than what I expected but again, it's hard to complain too much at this price point.

  • Canon MG2560 or HP Deskjet 2131? Both @$19. Mainly using it as scanner and some rare colour printing (already have a mono laser to handle most printings)

  • edit: saw on HN site it is available in store and online.

  • Any comment on AKAI TV is it any good or should I wait for better bargain?

  • WD Elements. Can I remove and use as a laptop drive??

    • +1

The current portable drive you can't.

      • What about the WD 2TB MY Passport?

    • You're better off using an SSD. If you're keen though you should try Seagate. Generally, their drives are usable like that and thin enough.
