IMK Portable Induction Cooker $30 (Usually $49.99) @ Spotlight

220

Was going to buy this earlier @ 49.99 on the $40 cash back deal to bring my total over $100 but found something else I needed more.

Spotted it today an sale for $30 - Win!

NB It's a 2 day sale so not eligible for the $40 deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/376790

Got it home and tried it out, Cheap and cheerful, more powerful & works better & with more functions than my old one. I'm tempted to go back for another

Edit - Its actually 2000w not 1800w as advertised

Just a quick question why do you use it at home instead of just using a normal stove burners

    I mean any benefit !

Personally, I have a pretty basic electric hotplate. These induction hotplates are way faster to heat and have more Functions and presets, timer etc.
Apart from that they are handy when there's a big cook up on and/or a few people in the kitchen. You can just pop this into any powerpoint in a less busy area of the kitchen or house.

      • Thanks

yep simmer for pressure cooker and no flame to blow out, and has timer.

if you want to heat heavy steel pan for searing a steak it’s faster heat up than gas ….

doesn’t replace gas cooktop, complements it….if you take the pan off for too long the induction turns off and you need to turn back on again unlike gas where you move to unused trivet do stuff and move back to the flame.

if you have an apartment and balcony …. cook smelly food outside eg salmon skin, trevally

      it’s $30 well spent

      • Thanks mate

or you do hotpot at home

I guess being cheap, it just pulses at the heat setting…

    Can't go wrong with $30

  • Is it noisy? Is the fan loud?

      36dB so pretty quiet.
      Old one is 46dB

      • Thanks might give it a try. Is it ok at maintaining a simmer?

power and function is what sets models apart at the sub $150 market ….. they all pulse on and off at full power and the width of the pulse determines low, med, high, also the size of the coil and minimum pot base width varies a bit.

will pick one up as a present $30 is cheap, woolies are $50, tgg are $100+ for induction hot plates.

also the temperature settings measures the temp of the glass not the bottom of the pan, so there is a bit of lag between time the temp of the pan has heated the glass …. like cooking with gas, look at the food, don’t just look at the digital temp reading.

love the quick heat up times.

the $40 ones work as well as the $100 ones but the number of buttons and features varies, i own 2 cheapies and an expensive one, great for outdoor cooking or balcony if you have an extension lead especially the smelly fish you want to share with your neighbours rather than the inside of you home.

not until you get to the $180 models they do proper power controls on lower range settings.

    • Sounds Like you know your cookers…so what would be a 'cheap' good one in that $180 range?
I was looking at the Tefal for $120…still crappy?

  • so the deal finishes in 2 days?

  • Spotlight ebay has dropped the price too. 5% cheaper with PULL5 code

  • Can you please confirm this is a 2000W model?

  • I have the Ikea induction hob at $49. Very good quality.

This at $30 is a bargain, not sure how the quality compares.
