Great work TA :) The stacking of discounts makes a great price!

  • +1

A few of my colleagues actually use the X1 Carbon series and they're very good for the price. Far more premium and sturdy than Lenovo's cheaper range for a fraction of the weight. Also the battery is seriously impressive! Lenovo say up to 15.5 and I've easily got 11 hours out of it.

Ticks all the boxes imo as it also has an M.2 SSD with the option of NVMe, 2x Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) and Rapid Charge.

    • +2

I'm using this one for my job every day and it's simply the best laptop I ever had.
Very powerful, very lightweight and has every feature I could ask for.
Linux works great out of the box.

      • Are you running Linux or Windows 10? Any over heating issue?

  • +2

Regarding the Cashrewards comment - also turn off any ad-blockers/cookie deleters like Ghostery if you want it to work.

    • +2

I simply use Edge browser. Google Chrome is my daily driver and I open up Edge (with no extensions installed) for CR. Never fails.

      • +3

I do something similar too. My daily driver is Chrome, which is heavily locked down with AdBlock, Disconnect, etc.
I have a completely separate Chrome Canary installation, whos only extension is the Cashrewards Notifier, all Cookies enabled, and the Homepage is cashrewards.com.au.
Works perfectly. I reckon having a separate browser purely for CR purchases is the way to go.

  • 15% cashback applies to X1 G6 as well?

    • Hi Aussie88. Applies to everything on Lenovo's site :)

      • +1

        Cool thanks TA

      • Tried to apply to G6, it doesn't work.

Coupon code is not valid for the current cart. Please input a valid one.

        • +2

The comment was in response to the cashback, not the coupon :)

  • Any recommendations for a desktop? Around 1500!

  • any recommendations for about 1k? Need it for every day purposes plus the occasional using of photoshop with spotify in the background

  • +9

The X1 Carbon G5 is listed as $1679 on Lenovo's website.

A final price of $1171.75, down from an initial price of $1679, is a saving of $507.25, or 30.21%. Absolutely incredible.

    Thanks TA.

    • I can see the $1555 promo on CR but when the Lenovo site loads it only shows $1899. I'm on mobile so I think that is something to do with it.

Edit: figured it out. Yes, that was the problem…

    • I clicked the link, there is only one model, gave an initial price of $1899.

    • Does this work with all models?

    • +2

      $1030.39 via a TRS refund.

    • small correction, the CashrewardsX1 code works on the item which is listed as $1,899 not on the on $1,679. Even though they has the same part number.

    • Got $212.05 from Cashrewards.

  • +3

Those are not good specs at all for $1555. You need to stack it with a current Lenovo deal for it to be worth it.

I paid about the same for XPS 13 with an updated i5 and double the SSD.

    • +1

With the Cashback and the Amex offer it brings the price down to $1171 which is quite good.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!, I placed my order yesterday!

  • I saw this on CR site early this morning and thought it was an error. Bought a laptop last night from Lenovo. Sucks to be me.

  • Thx TA. Did anyone know if there's a coupon code for L380 Yoga?

  • code is not valid ?

  • Thanks TA, looks like code doesn't work for i7 which I'm desperately waiting for a while

  • Can the 10% off code from another purchase be stacked with this?

  • +1

    AMEX code says:

Unfortunately, the maximum number of Card Members have already enrolled in this offer. Please enjoy the other great offers on American Express Connect.

    • Yes lot of them add the offer to the card but dont use it.

  • Has anyon tried photo and video editing on these? Or should I look for something with a dedicated gpu?

    • Lightroom works fine

  • +1

Tempting but 7th gen intel & 128gb SSD & only 8gb ram. I know this is in a different league to most laptops, but it is still $1500 or so.

    • Seems to default to 256GB model on Lenovo site for Gen 5 and coupon therefore not valid?

edit: never mind, you must click through the link on CR to see the relevant build spec

    • I literally gave away some 128GB SSDs to strangers on the weekend.

      • Those lucky strangers. I would have paid for them!

        • I'm generous sometimes.
Gave out a free boost voucher juice to everyone at the boost line in January.
People were buying them for $3 in the classifieds.

  • Do these have soldered RAM onboard therefore no upgrade beyond 8GB?
Edit: Looks like it does. Bummer.

  • Great deal. I ended up getting the Gen 6 on their sale page (Base model) which was already $300 off.
Ended up customizing it up to the i7 8550u, 16gb ram and 256gb SSD.
Final price post Cashrewards and Amex will be $1769.3!!
Couldn't pass it up for 32% off RRP

    • How did you get 16GB option? Can't seem to choose anything but 8GB? (even on the G6).

      • +1

When you choose one of the i7 CPUs, there is a button on the memory line that lets you choose the 16GB option.

        • +2

You can also bump to 16GB with the i5-8350U (which is $100 cheaper than the i7).

        • @awnm: note i5 8350U is vPro

    • bacon Did you get confirmation from AMEX?

  • Code CashrewardsX1 is not working with X1 yoga!

    • Correct. Only works with the X1 in title. 15% cashback applies sitewide.

      • Hi Rep,

I opened the link via CR shop now but there was no option to choose the 128GB SSD option and the code doesn't work for the X1 G5… what have I done wrong? :S

        Thanks in advance.

  • +1

    Thank you Sir !!

  • Good work TA. Any code for T480?

    • Why is there no love for the T480? Seems better specs & cheaper price with similar build quality. X1 Carbon is thinner & lighter but the T480 is still pretty light. Not sure why people don't rate it. I think I might try it out.

  • is the legion alright? I was hoping to get something with a gtx1060, but theres slim pickings
    https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/ideapad/lenovo-legion-…

    edit: out of stock. sigh

  • Just to properly count the beans, is the cashback calculated on the full price minus the GST component on the Lenovo sales?

  • Bought a thinkpad last year. Still haven’t got my Cashback. The only reply I got is “we are working with Lenovo on this”. Maybe just an exception but still very annoying.

    • Hi bypeng. The reason your cashback may still be pending is if your purchase was an 'untracked' claim. Without knowing the full specifics I can't comment further, but just so you know, more sales get attributed to OzBargain than they do to Cashrewards due to last click as explained in OP. Happy to look into this for you if you ping me your CR email address. Thanks.

      • Thanks TA. Pinged.

  • Is it possible to get Cashrewards with the Lenovo AU premium store (corporate discount of around 8%): https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/aupremium/ ?

I'm assuming it isn't but thought I'd ask anyway!

    • +2

Hi Rebs. We have not been given the green light to promote the premium store via Cashrewards, so on that front the answer is no to cashback. Having said that, we are in constant discussion with Lenovo and I'll definitely make it known there's a requirement from members to have it on board. Stay tuned :)

      • Thanks TA, ordered a 6th gen x1 last night, 15% cashrewards plus Amex deal was too good to pass up!

  • Shame there's no generic coupon codes to use as a discount of other laptops. Even 5% would be amazing.

  • Does all cash rewards cashback pay pre GST? Mine tracked pre GST.

    • Hi carleast. Most pay rewards based on ex GST. Your tracking amount is correct. You'll notice this at the bottom of your tracking email…

*Sale value may not include delivery, taxes, surcharges, GST and other fees.

      • yes it is ex GST

  • Hey TA,

As per Rebs post earlier on, any word on if cash rewards work with the Lenovo AU premium store: https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/aupremium/ ?

    Cheers D.

  • What do you guys think of ThinkPad E480. Its on sale for $829. With cashrewards would be $715.
    This is i5-8250U, 14.0" FHD IPS, 8GB DDR4, 128GB Solid State Drive
    https://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge…

I am also considering, Asus Vivobook F510UA, FHD IPS, Intel Core i5-8250U, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD $683.92 AUD.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/373379

Its predominantly for home use. May be 30% work use, where i might run some VMs which are RAM intensive.
Might have to buy a 256GB SSD for both and if I run in RAM issues, might have to stick in 16GB RAM on both.

E480 seems to have some fan issues and finger print issues from earlier posts.
I am not sure about Asus warranty support.

I am leaning towards Asus as it is marginally cheaper and looks cooler. I have an X1 Carbon from work, so would be a bit of variety for me. :)

    • What do you think of X1 Carbon?

E480 $829 may not be able to claim cashreward as it has code, so might want to confirm before purchase.

      • Its awesome. We have around 10 of this in our office and everyone loves it. Consistent good reviews as well.

        • Bought ThinkPad E580 Silver for $734 after cash rewards. Rewards tracked successfully. Went with Thinkpad for the reliability and warranty. Introduced variety in colour. 😃

        • @spk-chelsea: awesome price for the specs. I went with x1 carbon g6 for $1800 not cheap.

    • 15% cashback might not work with E480 because it needs a coupon code (EOFY18) to get it to $829 and Cashrewards says:

"Cashback may not be payable if you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site."

      • I think I saw you on whirlpool same username. 🤓

        • +1

Checked with op on this. He wasn't sure. We don't key in the coupon. It is listed with the discount. He said it might work. We could probably cancel order if cash rewards was not picked.

        • 829 good value as can add 16gb ram for additional 100 without having to upgrade the cpu. Add 256gb ssd total 1034 still a good value for the specs. and bonus if cashreward works.

I was looking at e480 during the day yesterday and it didn’t have the code until later in the evening. Base model was 999 or 1019. and by the time up the cpu to unlock 16gb ram and add 256gb ssd it was over 1300. Not enough to claim the 150 Amex.

Wonder if it cost anything to cancel my x1 carbon and order an e480 instead?

        • @Aussie88: Be careful with the $999 base one as it's HD not FHD.

Carbon would be better quality and lighter, but if it's Gen 5, then it has older dual core CPU.

Personally, I wouldn't pay much over $1,000 for an E series. YMMV.

If you go by the Cash Rewards wording, then it would seem the $829 deal might not qualify because you have to click the Lenovo coupon to get the $829.

"Cashback may not be payable if you use a coupon code that is not listed on this site."

  • -2

Worse than eBay sales… Most laptops are at least 30-50% over usual sale prices, even after -15% mostly isn't deals.

    • Getting negged without anyone actually posting any deals I've maybe missed… Nice..

      Examples:
      E580
      $1089 - $44.50 ($1044.5) on recent deals
      $1292 - $176 ($1116) currently

Note you can opt for 128GB SSD now though and pay ~$1030, but I think the majority of us would rather pay $14 extra for the extra 128GB.

      • E580 Silver for $734 after 15% cash rewards.

        • Base model is, though if you're going with base model this was better and magnitudes cheaper still.

SSD + RAM upgrade ($260 worth after CB) and it's $35 cheaper.

Edit: Note AMD 530 is basically same as Intel HD imo… But it has that too if you care about it.

        • @dyl: The deal you linked to was a pricing error.

        • +1

          @worldwidehappiness:

Thought it was being mostly honoured so had assumed just grumpy franchises or something lol

There's a few other options which have been posted around $670-700, just search 8250u. Lenovo may be cheaper if you're claiming GST back.

  • Has anyone have problem when check out on Lenovo website? I tried to pay by my AMEX and master card but unsuccessful. I am now probably miss out on 15% cash reward☹️

    • Hi hotcheap, I paid with Amex no problems with checkout. Hope it worked out for you eventually.

  • Thanks TA, just got an X1Yoga coupled with Amex offer. Great deal!

TA, I have a question please. With the 15% cash back offer, am I just eligible for one-time purchase on my CR account? If I were make another round of purchase of a monitor and accessories assuming they add up to another $1,500, will I still get 15% cash back on my CR for this second purchase?

    • Hi Mcz. No limit on number of purchases :)

  • it seems the still get it for $1555 ?

    • That's correct. Ends midnight. Only reason the post is expired is because cashback dropped from 15% to 12%.

  • @tightarse
On the day that Cashrewards had 15% off I put my order in but somehow it didn’t go thru. Have contacted Lenovo and the guy reckoned I should contact Cashrewards Rep. Would you be able to help TA? I will pass all the details to you.

    • Have PM’d you.

  • Had an issue on Wednesday night with a $4k+ purchase tracked at $1140.

Reached out to TA on Wednesday night, he's been on it since and it was sorted this afternoon.

Future interactions with any other reps will pale in comparison.

  • Anyone here ordered last week with customised specs which takes 2-3 weeks lead time to ship? Lenovo says they don’t charge me until shipment is ready which is scheduled to be in another week. I noticed that the initial pending charge on my Amex has disappeared and upon ringing them they said that the charge to moved from pending to an ‘approved’ status pending processing by the merchant and explained that it may drop off if the merchant does not process the charge in 5 days. Wondering what others experience in similar situation and if I should be concerned…

    • Same here. Disappeared from pending and yet in posted. However I think it used the limit of the card in prior so that could charge you without limit problem when shipping? My order was shipped yesterday will let you know when they charge my card.

      • Thanks truth000, mine is still to be shipped and the limit hold has even disappeared as I noticed my available credit has gone back up by the Order amount. Lenovo seems to think they will still be able to put through the charge when they ship. My fingers are crossed.

        • Same here, nothing on the Amex card although I got an email with a tax invoice stating it is paid fully by credit card. Invoice date is same as date of shipping. I'm expecting it shows on the card on Monday. Will comment here then.
