Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Brownie Batter Core 458mL $9 @ Woolworths

540

Saw a tub of this treat on my Sunday night Woolies shop. Credit to Pricehipster.

Fudgy chunks of brownie goodness mixed into dark and rich chocolate ice cream. Sounds like a dream right? From a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, to far-off places with names we sometimes mispronounce, the journey that began in 1978 with 2 guys and the ice cream business they built is as legendary as the ice cream is euphoric! How do you like your euphoria? There are so many ways to enjoy Ben & Jerry’s. We cover our bases with good old chocolate and award-winning Cookie Dough, but then go so much further, with flavours to satisfy every bowl out there. Go ahead, give it a swirl… Like all of Ben & Jerry’s ice creams, Chocolate Fudge Brownie strives to not just taste good, but do good. We have committed to transitioning all of our ingredients to be fully sourced non-GMO. Plus this Ben & Jerry's flavour is made with cage-free eggs, Fairtrade certified sugar, cocoa, and vanilla, with caring Dairy Farmers delivering milk and cream in a sustainable way. It’s all wrapped up in responsibly sourced packaging to have as little impact on our planet as possible. So dig in and enjoy this fudgy choc deliciousness without the guilt!

Other flavours at the same price:

Cookie Dough
Chocolate Fudge Brownie
Brownie Batter Core
The Tonight Dough Starring Jimmy Fallon

A Ben & Jerry's tub is usually $14 @ Woolworths, occasionally comes down to $9 and once in a blue moon goes to $8, but never lower.

Of course the savings multiply the larger your order of this item.

I had the Connoisseur Chocolate Brownie when it was 1/2 price for about $5.00 and it was much better, and it's 1 Litre. At fill price it's only $1 more and almost twice the ice cream.

  • $20 per litre for ice cream is not a bargain…

    • It costs a lot to squeeze 15g of fat and 30g of sugar into each 100g of ice cream….

    • All ice-creams here are overpriced though, particularly the ones at Gelato shops. $6 for a cup? Gimme a break, mate. I am only buying a scoop of ice-cream.

All ice-creams here are overpriced though

        $1.30 per litre…

        • I don't consider it a good ice-cream. Call me picky.

        • Or alternatively….

          1KG bag of sugar
          2-3L of Milk

          Freeze

          Eat

          @virhlpool:

You're previous comment did not refer to 'good' ice-cream… You said 'All' ice-cream…

        • @virhlpool:

I think it's yummy, but not worth the price unfortunately :(

    No deals on Non-dairy?

    • -1

      Then it wouldn't be ice-cream

    • +3

Omg the 7 layer coconut non dairy is amazing!

So is the peanut butter cookie non dairy!

      • -2

        Love it. You just stirfried.

On a serious note, I wouldn't try dairy-free ice-cream unless I had some allergy with milk/ dairy. We all know that Soy milk and Almond milk taste like ***t from our coffee experiences.

        • It's funny, it's one of the only non dairy (coconut / almond) ice creams where you can literally not taste that it's non dairy… They're really nice. Creamy sugar goodness!

        • -2

I had coconut milk in coffee once and can attest it was equally bad as soy or almond.

        • @Gandalf the Thrifty:

That's because they're not really milk.

You can only get milk from boobies, no boobies no milk.

        • @Gandalf the Thrifty: Haha down votes! Sorry you don't really like coffee if you have coconut milk in it.

  • I just got back from Woolies and had to make this very hard choice. $9 for 485ml of this or pay the extra $1 for the 1 Ltr of Connoisseur.

Needless to say, I paid the extra dollar and will now have some second tomorrow.

Now there's a coincidence. Minutes ago I finished the last of 16 tubs of Karamel Sutra Core flavour. They were $1 each and just a week beyond Best Before date. It's only reasonable to thank me for letting you all know.

You're better off going to a gelato store and getting their takeaway packs than the store 'fancy' ice creams. These 'fancy' ice creams are just mass produced, have hardly any 'filling', they're so expensive and only marginally better than the cheapo ice cream versions of the same. Whereas if you go to Gelato Messina or something you're gonna get 3 amazing flavours for only $20 or something

    • +2

Actually the Ben and jerry's ice-cream are chock filled with bits…

    • hardly any 'filling' … marginally better than the cheapo

You clearly haven't even tried Connoisseur or B&J..

Connoisseur ice cream tub is $6.50 (40% off) at coles. Not 1/2 price but still better value (and tastes better) than this.

    • It's about time some Australian company needs to come up with an alternative premium ice-cream brand in addition to Connoisseur. I am tired of eating Connoisseur's same flavors every time they come on sale. Not that I don't love them but a bit of diversity in premium ice-cream market will help.

Venture outside of a Coles or Woolworths store and you will find quite a few other brands. Ever heard of Serendipity, Zebra Dream, Coyo, Aurora, Valhalla, etc?

        • Where's the best place to buy these??

        • @sleet:
We're in different states so it's hard to say. Try a Supa IGA or a fancy supermarket in a posh suburb.

        • Are they all Aussie? Serendipity sounds like those US shops?

        • @Spooked:
You know, you can look up their websites and have a look. For example, Serendipity are based in NSW and you can search for their stockists here.

These are at a Supa IGA on my way home:

Cadbury, Peters, Streets, and Sanitarium crap
          Homer Hudson with 2 flavours - $12.40 for ~500ml
          Haagen Dazs with 5 flavours - $12 for ~500ml
          Peter's Connoissuer with 9 flavours - $10 for 1L
          Maggie Beer with 5 flavours - $10.40 for ~500ml
          Gundowring with 14 flavours - $9.70 for ~500ml
          Sara Lee with 6 flavours - $9.40 for 1L
          Ben & Jerry's with 8 flavours - between $11 and $12.44 for ~500ml
          Gelato Fiasco with 2 flavours - $12 for ~500ml
          Oob Organic with 4 flavours - $8.50 for 470ml
          Talenti gelato with 5 flavours - $12 for ~500ml
Over the Moo with 4 flavours - $11 for ~500ml
          Harry's with 3 flavours - $5.50 for ~500ml
          Zebra Dream with 7 flavours - $14.50 for ~500ml
          Cocofrio with 7 flavours - $12.70 for ~500ml
          Halo Top with 6 flavours - $11 for ~500ml
          Cocoluscious with 8 flavours - $12 for 500ml
          Gelista with 8 flavours - $10.50 for 570ml
          Valhalla with 6 flavours - ~$8 for 500ml
          Valhalla with 6 flavours - ~$12 for 1L
          Tofutti with 1 flavour - $7.50 for ~500ml
          Aurora with 8 flavours - $6.50 for 500ml
          Aurora with 9 flavours - $13 for 2L

So, I guess there really isn't much to choose from :-P

    OVERRATED at this price.

  • Raiding my local woolies tomorrow. Gonna fill up the freezer to the brim. Thanks OP!

  • +3

$9 for B&J is a deal? You guys get ripped-off on everything here. Even Europe has this cheaper.

    • +2

Australians get price gouged on everthing here. We a suckers. Hence why or the Euro clothing brands come here as the margins are greater. Having said that I think the honeymoon is over for clothes as Aussie buyers are getting smarter.

      • Buyers getting smarter won't help if they won't be allowed to buy from global online stores/websites due to GST issues.

  • -2

    Fudgy chunks of brownie goodness

I just did one of them this morning.

  • B&J is overrated ice cream and pretty expensive imo…

  • +1

For $2 more I'd rather 2 litres of Aurora Gelati.

    • Where do you buy it from?

      • They are based in Coburg North VIC and their products are at IGA supermarkets and lots of small dessert retailers. Maybe they're not available in NSW. Facebook page.

  • I have a problem, my body retains ice-cream.
