ha! just finished the last bit this morn :) thanks nocure!

  • Is it actually good? Is it only 100% Peanuts

    • +1

It is peanuts and sea salt. There is a no added salt version that Pics make but Coles doesn't sell it.

I like no added salt (and no added sugar) peanut butter, so have never tried Pics.

      • what brand do you use Pandamony?

        • +1

I buy the Sanitarium Natural Peanut Butter 960g from Costco. It is 100% peanuts.
          I also get Costco's Kirkland Almond Butter 765g ($10.49).

    • It is. I've got an almost finished jar of dark roast in the cupboard, and it's quite nice. Make sure you stir up the jar with a knife, and go right to the bottom, as the nuts settle down there so it's a bit thicker than at the top.

      • +1

Yeah my left nut in particular settles a bit lower than the right.

      • +1

my solution is to put it in the fridge. once you stir it up and fridge it, it doesnt seem to separate again.
Also i really like the cold peanut butter mouthfeel

      • What I do is store them upside down so I don't have to keep stirring to hard all the time.

    • I prefer Bega Natural Peanut Butter as it tastes more natural. Pics tastes like it's been mixed with water.

      • +1

Yep Bega ex Kraft is the best and it is the only peanut butter that I use. I would not touch any products with the name COLES on it as they are all rubbish and of poor quality

  • Not really into peanut butter, what's the best 100% one?

    • +12

      I like Mayvers. Dark roast.

      • +1

        Black nuts?

        • +1

More a dark brown, you can still find them in the dark

        • @buckster:

          Salty?

      • +1

This. $4 at Woolies atm. Much better than Pic's.

      • -2

Yep, Mayvers clearly the best. This is good, but not Mayvers-good.

    • Has anyone tried the one available at Aldi for $3?

    • +1 for Mayvers. Bega is quite good too, and I'm just finishing up a bottle of it.

    • +2

you do have to try all of them to see which 1 you like best. I have tried most if not all of the brands that's available at the supermarket and I like Pic's the best. Many of the other members do like the Mayver's Dark Roasted peanut butter however I am not a fan of it. I do prefer the normal Mayver's over the dark roasted.

      • agreed. i tried and didnt like dark, was a bit too much

    • what's the best 100% one?

The one that's made with organic, gluten-free and non-GMO nuts.
In other words, your own nuts.

    • +1

What is wrong with you? :-p

  • +2

when will Mayvers go on sale, its been ages! ($2.5 not $4)

    • +1

      I've run out!

    • have also been hanging out for some for ages :'(

  • +1

    Finally,

Bought 2 cases of this last time.

  • +1

    Where is this made in?

  • No nut puns yet?

    • +5

      I don't have the balls to try…

    • +1

      Nuthing yet

    • Cashew think of your own? Mine are too almundane.

  • +5

    Thanks OP.
The last time it was this price was October 2017, so it's stock up time!

    • +1

      Thanks for letting us know.

    • +1

      Good information.

    • How many days is that, MathNerd?

  • +1

Thanks. Perfect timing, have just run out. Winston says thanks also.

    • +3

      Username checks out

  • almond butter > peanut butter

if only it weren't so expensive…

    • +1

I get it from Costco. What about you?

      • Usually Woolies - but that's a good idea, hadn't thought to check there! What's the price?

        • +2

          10,49 for 800 gram.

  • finally..its back..

  • yeah the pic's really good, how's the peanut butter?

  • still have 2 mayvers but should stack up pic's!!!

  • More than half price then, shows me $8.25 normal price!

  • i prefer mavers but still good

  • Thanks, my first time trying this. Love Mother Earth and Mayvers varieties too, and Costco's Almond Butter ($10.49 for 765g) too.

Just saw Coles brand mix of Peanut, Cashew and Almond Butter the other day, 280g jar for $4. Anyone tried it?

  • Not sure whether i should wait for a mayvers deal.

  • +3

If you’re in Melb, organic foodstore Terra Madre in Northcote has their own branded, pretty good organic PB, 750 grams for $6.50 as an everyday price. I usually grab a few when heading through the area so as to not run out and need to wait for sales such as these.
Really good prices there for other stuff like maple syrup, canned foods, nuts, seeds, coffee beans, tea etc

  • +1

IMO this is the best quality peanut butter available in supermarkets
Crunchy is very think, nutty and doesn't even need mixing.
Australian peanuts too which makes me support them.

This week I was going to try Mayvers protein plus peanut butter but was annoyed to find
that it contains "less than 10% Australian ingredients." A real shame.
I do like Mayvers Dark Roast crunchy but again that is only 50% Australian ingredients.

    • -1

50% Australian ingredients does not mean they have australian peanuts. It has 2 ingredients 1. Salt 2. Peanut. So 50% australian ingredients mean they can have australian salt and imported peanuts..

      • +1

That's not how the labelling standard works.

"Secondly, what percentage of the ingredients in the food, by ingoing weight, are Australian –
indicated by the bar chart and the second part of the standard phrase."

        https://www.foodstandards.gov.au/code/userguide/Documents/Gu…

So it means half the ingredients by weight are Australian.

        • aah..Thank you for information.

  • +3

This is my favorite and the peanuts are from Australia not from China like pretty all the other one.

  • Looks like this deal may be online only. Walked into Coles @ Wynyard but it was still marked at $7.50

    • Did you scan it?

      • yep scanned it at the self-checkout till

        • +1

If a single item scans at a higher price than the advertised or ticketed shelf price for that item, we will give you that item FREE.

@nocure: Im going to try this out right now! :)

Edit: Score! Grabbed 2 jars and went through the normal checkout. Guy gave me 1 for free and 1 for $3.75 :)

        • @smurfstah: Promotional prices not available at Coles Express (unless otherwise indicated), Coles George Street, Coles St Leonards or Coles Wynyard. Probably just got lucky with the cashier.
