This smells fishy to me. The fact that this is not the first time that this company has done this, ie accept money for items they don't have in stock at the time. The OP who was one if the first to order before sharibg the deal here also missed out!
In this instance the comoany pockets over 55 full payments instantly (not deposits) and during night they kept manually adding new stock on their eBay site every time they ran out on their eBay site. This should to be investigated by eBay.
That's over $150,000 of cash put directly into their bank account! And they really don't know when they will actually get that many items from Sony, 2-4 weeks is just an estimate that will most likely keep getting revised. Even BH Photo have no stock.
I am partucularly annoyed as I purchased additional expensive items elsewhere on the basis that I ordered this camera and it was confirmed. I will be asking for a full refund.
Others, beware of this company and their selling strategies.

I saw it on whirlpool before OP post. there were 9 in stock, I think that was the only stock they had.
I believe them when they say it was a system error because of the 'more than 10 stock' they have always listed limited amount of stock with their cameras and lenses.
$600 savings is worth the wait and you can cancel at any time if you wish.
for the people that missed it will be months before they list this camera again tho
I don't believe it was a system error - I saw that this deal "sold out" now and then and was restocked manually several times. I think they knew what they were doing. I was told today that delivery by friday week was "very likely".

What strap should I use. I am torn between Aritst and Artisans E20R, Gordys leather straps or peak designs.
peak design, leash + wrist. if you are going to use heavy lenses change the leash for a slide lite

They sold 89 on ebay!, i spoke to jbhifi and the rep told me all of the a7 III are on back order. Hoping the shipment will be sooner rather than later.
@philta: sold 89 yes, but 8 of those were from previous sales back in March/April/May. so technically they're only on the hook for 81 sales this time round.
the 1st of the 81 sold went through at 17:10:17 AEST
the last sale went through at 22:04:06 AESTi happened to be sale #38 which went through at 20:35:22 AEST
meanwhile the a7iii is showing as in stock on the sony store, not sure if that means a new batch of stock is in and the other retailers just haven't been notified.

I placed my order via Ryda (same company?) and was one of the first 5 orders.
Put my order through at 6pm when there were a few units of stock showing still.
Haven't received and shipping info but received the email on the delay and elected to wait given price was very good.

We have received an update from Sony Australia, due to the ongoing worldwide shortage of the Sony Alpha 7MIII continuing delays will occur. We are continuing to supply product as quickly as we can but at this stage, Sony Australia's update, advises that delays are expected to continue and could be as long as 4-8 weeks.
Sony Australia has also advised that those willing to wait will be supplied a Sony NPFZ-100 Battery for FREE valued at $129.00. On top of the accessories, we have already promised.
So frustrating! Chose to wait.

Happy to receive the extras, but the wait is not great. I understand there's nothing they can do, it's just frustrating to be in this position and there isn't much alternative at this price. Those with friends in the US might be able to get one from B&H with the 10% student discount. It works out to less than the price we received here, but I suspect that would take just as long to receive and you don't get the extras either…
So annoying. I'm flying to japan end of July and might not even receive the camera to claim the TRS. FFS.

new sigma 35 1.4 art e mount sitting on my desk without a body to mount lol. Anyone had any experience with this lens?

I have the Sigma Art 35 in the Sony A mount that I use via an adapter. Fantastic lens, my favourite next to the 55mm 1.8. Picked up a preorder on the Sony 85 1.8 from digidirect too that I'm looking forward to trying :-)
The aperture is telling, but how does it stack up to the 55mm 1.8 in terms of bokeh and sharpness in real life?
The 55mm was my all time favourite lens, amazing sharpness and clarity. Unfortunately sold it and my A7r on the whim when I "thought" I didn't have time for photography anymore (boy was I wrong).
Now I am building my kit again, I am trying to decide which lens to purchase first.
FYI, I prefer the wider angle of a 35mm, but I cannot get past the sharpness of the 55mm.
Heard the AF is not so great. Curious to try it out:)
I've resisted buying a lens until i have the body. Has any read up about no frills /Ryda and how reputable they are?
I've bought from them before (Car stereo system), and had no issues. At least their communication has been good, and since Sony is providing free batteries it sounds like Sony over promised to them.
I wonder if it’s sony or simply themselves promising the batteries, just like the other gifts. But anyhow, waiting seems the only option.
Should we be concerned about eBay buyer protection running out after 30 days? Sounds like they might be shipping after that date at this point?

I didn't get an email, just a phone call. Sony battery will come later as they are getting this from Sony.

Went to sony Chatswood store today, the staff there told me they would have stock coming in August. hopefully, our orders are of the same batch.

I spoke with the Parramatta Sony kiosk manager and he tells me the next batch arrives mid this month.
He doesn't think my order will be fufilled in this batch though because he says our orders won't be prioritised due to the heavy discount.
No ETA for the batch after that.

Was the kiosk manager suggesting that our eBay orders will not be prioritised by No Frills/Ryda, or that No Frills/Ryda's Sony orders will not be prioritised?
It certainly should not be the former, as No Frills/Ryda are obliged to fulfill existing orders, as they are fully paid, not to mention the "discount" was provided by eBay - No Frills/Ryda received the full price.
The guy was just being pessimistic.
Of course they are obliged to fulfill our existing orders, there's just no way to enforce that or to prove that they didn't do so.

They are doing their best to fulfill them tho. Sony Australia is getting stock every month (how many? who knows) and stock will go to Sony and all retailers. How many will Nofrills/Ryda will get?
at the end everyone will have to decide how long are they willing to wait to get the $600 discount + battery + accessories
I missed out on the Ryda deal, but have been hunting for the camera to be in stock anywhere in Oz …. not much luck until last night when i found the Sony website actually states they have it in stock.
So i placed an order online … and in a very un-oz-bargain like fashion …. paid full price.Camera status still says in stock today:

I don't that kiosk manager really knows what he's talking about. Doesn't matter if items got discounted but orders purchased will have to be fulfilled by the order it got paid.

Same here. They eventually replied yesterday saying ETA remains the same but they were apparently waiting for update from Sony “hopefully within 24 hours”.

At this point, I've set myself a deadline. If I don't get the camera by mid August, I'm just going to cancel and order it from elsewhere. It's highly questionable that Ryda will ever get stocks, since Sony would prioritise their own and several of the larger specialist camera stores.
From the other deal that's on the front page, it looks like there's a large shipment coming in mid-August. If Ryda don't fulfill it then, it's time to walk. I'll make sure to complain to eBay as well.
Could we assume they are just awaiting cancellation from us if always has a response of delay?

Update, I received an email from Ryda on Friday night and the camera was delivered yesterday.
Only problem is I am currently away so wont be able to get my hands on it until next week.
Not sure if what they sent included all the bonus items they promised or the bonus battery. Regardless, am glad to get the camera at that price.
