Has anyone received any comms/responses from the seller? I have sent two enquiries already and haven't received any replies. First one was about a month ago, and another a week ago :/

Just in case, an FYI. Ebay buyer protection is no longer valid if you guys ordered on June 6. If you paid via paypal there is buyer protection within 180 days of payment / purchase. Might want to put a calendar entry in case things get messy. They seem like a reputabler seller, so should be okay. (I hope)

Looks like they've adjusted the email to say 'next month' instead of August now. In the last email I received from them it said by August.

When you factor in orders and preorders made on ryda eBay store, ryda online store and nofrills eBay store who knows when stock will be fulfilled and most importantly in which order?

Agreed on the lack of communications regarding the fulfillment. They would be banking a substantial amount from the money generating interest.
They wouldn't even need to pay Sony until the stock arrives + credit is due. Clearing the 6:15PM order after two months is very disappointing - especially as it's going to edge towards the no-refund period.
I would suggest people set a calendar reminder for around a week before to get your refund claim in or chargeback.
I'm not defending Ryda but just stating a fact. It's a big shortage problem worldwide. I usually purchased from digidirect and know well their sales ppl. They also have shortages since June. I bought 85mm 1.8 in July and still hasn't got it. Last time i checked both are pre order in their website. Sony must be laughing all the way to the bank.
They offer refund from day one, the explain the glitch from day one. You decided to wait. Sony doesnt even sell the camera on their site anymore (until shortage is sorted)
It is up to you to decide if you want to wait or not. It will take a year or more to reach the $2400 price.

Even if they refunded you the amount that you paid, they would still earn the balanced of 20% ($3088-$2471=$617) which is discounted by Ebay not nofrills. Because the refund is not longer proceed through Ebay, Ebay will not take back the balance. You shouldn't let it benefit them or maybe you could also complain to Ebay regarding this issue and see if they can do something about it. It might help everyone who are still in the list.
Wow loop hole right there. Excellent suggestion, maybe ebay can extend the refund policy due to exceptional circumstances since they have skin in this situation.
…Unless the paypal transaction is smart enough to know the parties involved for the refund including the discounted portion. Then this may not be an issue after all. Might be good to get this validated from paypal.
I think the only potential losers from this are people who paid via direct debit / bank deposit. Not sure if they can request a chargeback. I guess there is always the ACCC as an alternative.

It's the "risk" you take for buying something on backorder, either you're racking up interest expenses or forfeiting accrued interest.

This wasn't meant to be a backorder listing on eBay though, but their excuse was that 'not being aware of the quantity of listing'. it is ridiculous, as they kept adding stock to it that day. This definitely violated some eBay policy. They listed it as in stock item for a lot more than what they have in stock which is already not allowed. Also, eBay policy note that any backorder item listing cannot be delivered within 30 days, seller are not allowed to list it. Anyway, that could be the reason Nofrills is not longer in the selected seller list for the usual discount.

Yeah I think it's unfair to completely blame Ryda, sure they made a mistake overselling but this camera is in such high demand that every store is struggling to stock. Even Sony themselves are struggling.

I doubt that you will get it before your trip. According to YANOFLIES's update, he get confirmation around 14th August 2018, while he placed his order on 06-Jun-18 18:15:40 AEST. If combine both Ryda and nofrills eBay stores orders for A7iii, by 14th Aug(about 2 months plus 9 days), They only managed to fulfil 8 orders. So yes, those are the 'SEVERAL small deliveries of stock' that mentioned in email which is really SMALL 1 or 2 per fortnight?

I understand that shortage problem is not their fault. But regarding the number of item they received on each delivery as well as the time frame, they are surely clear about how likely for each of us to get the camera in which month.
They said they rather under promise and over deliver, but they do completely opposite.
- Best info they could give us is provide us the number of stock they had received. But they didn't, instead we have to figure out through this community.
- If they were to tell us, they only managed to supply 8 orders in two months, most of us would have ask for refund. Instead, they tell us from 2 weeks to 4 weeks > 4 weeks to 8 weeks>August to September, September to October, in order to keep us in the list.By giving you the 'very high chance' notice, even if they didnt manage to get stock for you this month, you would only know until the end of the month. By the time, you will just think that it is nearly your turn, there is no point to quit.
If anyone who didnt get the 'very high chance' notice and if you cannot wait longer than 2 months, you should make up your mind before you get extremely frustrated with the seller (which believe a lot of us are already).

Spoke to Sony reps today and they said this deal sounded dodgy. They said based on the stock and time of ordering we should have had our orders fufilled because Sony was prioritising full payment pre-orders over deposit only orders. They told me I should cancel with no frills and order through them (they would match the price) and could guarantee a September delivery. I'm gonna email no frills and tell them, see what they say. Sony was pretty convinced that no frills were just banking on the interest from all the full payments. Will keep updated.

So heard back from NoFrills,
They were somewhat surprised at what I said to them and asked me who I spoke to directly, etc.
They said that the people at Sony must have been confused, as Sony Australia has no control of distribution and NoFrills is buying stock from the largest distributor in Australia (which apparently is not Sony?). After a few explanations of global shortages of stock, apparently they're almost caught up in delivering orders…but who knows. It feels like a carrot dangle, but I'm personally in no rush so can wait, but they should have refunded payments long ago, and only kept deposits.
I spoke to Sony kiosk in Chatswood. They ran it by their manager and refused to price match this deal. Did u manage to price match with Sony in the end?
The store I went was was pretty specific in that you had to come in store, and give them a damn good reason to match NoFrills, which I did (as I think they felt sorry for me having to wait so long haha). So I'd highly recommend going in person to a store, telling them what's happend with NoFrills (as they are supposed to be an authorised dealer) and then be ready to place a deposit right there and then on the spot at the Sony store if they can match it.
Interestingly they told me Ryda/no frills is NOT an authorised retailer and they do not get their stock directly from Sony.
I didn't score this deal and was kicking myself for missing out. But probably not such a bad thing… I scored a near new body on eBay for $2700 secondhand, paid a bit more but able to use it in the last 2 months. Great camera! Hope its not getting further delayed for those who's been waiting so long..

Nice catch! For people travelling to Japan, you can also take 10% off the ticket price due to tax. I think what allured many to this deal was the fact that it's AU stock and the associated warranty and cover. Still, I'm certainly getting impatient and I can understand professionals requiring this equipment having stronger feelings.
