Wow, great find, it's even cheaper than the standard edition. Have a feeling Google or Dyson somehow gave an incorrect link for this when posting the Ad, since on the site it says only "Professionals" can register to even purchase this variant, as of this comment's timestamp.

    • +2

I have a vague feeling as well. However, its listed on Google if you type in "Dyson Hair Dryer" and linked to their website.

Was super happy to get one for my missus.

      • Thanks for posting it! This model is more worthwhile over the standard, since it provides an extra filter cage.

    • +18

      only "Professionals" can register

Probably not an error then since we are ozbargainers.

      • I knew someone was going to mention this, as I posted that comment. 😆

    • Available exclusively for stylists and salons. Only through Dyson.

What they mean is that they want to control the price so if nobody else sells it then there can't be discounting unless Dyson want to.

This says they were always releasing the professional to all (original was just stylists). And goes through the differences.

    great find. Got 1.
    many thanks OP.

These things are seriously amazing! Bought for the mrs and she was too scared to use it because it was so expensive, so i used it for the first time to start a bbq, and oh my god, the coal lit up within 3-5 seconds.. was incredible. She now uses it all the time! Very hard to go back to a normal hair dryer once you use one of these.

    • +3

      For reals?

    • +2

I think it works a bit too well, I don't wanna light my scalp on fire lol

  • That's the lowest it's ever been AFAIK. Got one, thanks OP.

  • Got one, thanks 🙂

  • It might not be cheap, but that is an excellent price for this hair dryer! Cheapest I've seen is $374 with a Dyson corporate discount.

I'm happy with my Remington dryer bought for $15 3 years ago from BigW (got it replaced with a new one under warranty around a year ago).

    • +3

That’s all well and good but these are terrific (according to my wife). Nothing wrong with finding value - but some people are willing to spend a bit more to try something different

    • wrong post buddy. Big W discount that way —->

  • Clicked buy. Thanks OP.

Just bought one for the wife.

This deal blows and their vacuums suck.

    • -4

      Why?

      • +1

He's saying this hair dryer 'blows', and their vacuums 'suck' lol

      • +8

        Can't you hear the whoosh!?

      • +1

Guy is just taking a pun: blowers blow and vacuums suck. No one got it poor guy.

    • +4

and one of them is even called the 'ball' cleaner

      • Yeah I don't wanna know what that one does lol

  • WHats difference between professional and standard version?

    • Only thing I can see is they "redesigned the filter" and made the attachments magnet 2x stronger. Great hair dryer nonetheless!

      • You also get the Nickel/Silver colour, a re-designed concentrator, filter cleaning brush and longer 3.3m cord compared to the standard 2.7m

    • Gerry has approved an ozb variant. Maybe so he doesn’t have to price match

  • +5

$349 for a hair dryer, can’t believe it.

    • +19

I might need to double check but I think there is an option to decline the purchase of this item.

Brand name hair dryers for people with money to blow

        • +3

Just rearrange that a little and we’ll be good to go.

    • Everything Dyson is super expensive.

  • Wifey was just talking eating a new dryer and this popped up on OzBargains. Did a quick search. The most awarded hair dryer of 2017 worldwide. You generally get what your pay for. Ordered one. Thanks OP.

      eating a new dryer

      🤔

      • +1

        Oops autocorrect. “…about getting”…a new dryer. 😂

        • +4

          Happy wife happy life

    • +7

Most of those awards are "user voted" which really doesn't mean a lot because people are not actually reviewing or comparing, they are just voting on what they have.

Plus the more expensive something is the better we perceive it to be, even if it isn't.

      • totally agree, I read the professional comparation review, the $250 GHA outperformed this $500 Dyson in almost every sectors. And yes I read some user's review, very typical brainless review, especially for certein gender.

    • Husband of the year!! 👏👏👏👏

  • +4

Will this hair dryer blow my wife's hairs so well that more hairs are falling on the bathroom floor?
If so, this deal really blows!

    • On the flipside, if you use it you'll be getting blown for a change!

  • +7

Lots of good husbands here. My husband just got me one. Thanks OP.

    • +2

how do you know they bought it for their wives? maybe for themselves

      • +8

        or their mistresses.

        • My business partner bought one for his mistress and wife. One each. Not one for both to share lol

  • +5

    waste of money

    • +4

That's why we all have high income. We spend our money once the paycheck comes, then we complain to our bosses that we don't get paid enough.

      • +1

yeah fair go. I waste my money on clothes i don't need.

  • It is a great hair dryer, I have used the normal one.

    • is it worth the money though?

      • Difficult question to answer, I would say yes.

  • +1

Just bought TWO (2), cheapest seen from DJ was $499, even combined with 10% voucher, this $349 is still a killer deal. Recommended to all tech savvy ladies who needs a decent blow dryer, check on youtube and you'll know why it's worth it.

    • Why didn’t you ask DJ to match the price and use 10% discount gift card to purchase?

      • Because they'll say no as they don't sell the professional version and Dyson doesn't have any bricks or mortar stores

  • brilliant. bought two (one as present). thanks poster

  • Hmm, can't decide if this is the present for the wife this birthday.

    • +1

you can say this is ur present for ur bday, xmas, valentine's, and anniversary for the next 5 years run away

      • Haha sure. Bought one.

  • Thanks OP, bought one too.

For those with AMEX try to pricematch at HN for another $50 off

    • Wish we had a HN near us (<100kms) and I'd try that.

    • +1

HN doesn't sell this edition, would they still price match?

      • +3

Chances are low, they will try not to lose profit.

      • No they won't

Simply present proof of the competitor’s advertised price for the identical product

    • what deal is this? it does not appear on my amex account - offer section

    • +1

      Couldn’t find on HN, i tried =\

  • -2

How is this 20x better than $15 2000W hairdryer from kmart?

    • Have you tried it? It's amazing

      • +1

        Apparently it isnt…

The Dyson is the new kid on the block and comes in at double the price of everything else, and with very high expectations.

Without the nozzles on it was powerful enough, relatively quiet and with a more pleasing tone than most, but it still made hearing the TV difficult. When an attachment was added, the Dyson came undone, with the nozzles significantly reducing the power and airflow. One tester described it as the “Lamborghini of hairdryers” because it was all show .

One straight-haired tester said it left hair shiny, with fewer fly away hairs, but flat and overly dry. Another said it made hair feel like “like duckling’s feathers: flat and fluffy rather than sleek and voluminous”.

With the included diffuser one tester said it reduced to a power level “akin to blowing through a drinking straw” making it next to useless.

It looks good on the shelf, cleaning the filter is as easy as unscrewing it from the handle, and works just fine without an attachment, but is that really enough for £300?

Verdict: fancy tech doesn’t make for a good hairdryer

      It's not. It's over 23 x better.

    • No but it's definitely better to use one Dyson than 20x K-mart dryers at the same time

Out of stock while I had it in my cart

    Well that blows …

  • I couldn’t find the button to purchase it. Guess I was too late :(

  • bACK I STOC

  • Anyone got an email from Dyson saying

"Unfortunately we were unable to complete your recent Dyson order because there seems to be an issue processing your payment. If you would like to try again using a different card or payment type, please place a new order by visiting our website at dyson.com.au."

Looks like they denied this offer as I made three orders all using different cards

    • Was this after purchase confirmation email?

      • Absolutely, just few mins after I received the confirmation email

They cancelled my order three times

        Wanna ask the reson

        • Haven't received any cancellation email yet. Keeping my fingers crossed

    • I also received the same e-mail, only made 1 order as well.

      • I thought it was my card's problem and I tried to make another one with a different card but still be cancelled

        No idea what's the problem

        • Maybe you should have just used paypal

        • @googoogaga: I used Paypal and still got this message :-(

  • I must've got one of the last few. Received confirmation email from Dyson.
