  • saved $225, ThAnks

  • You saved AU $36.95 on this purchase -Thanks TA :)

  • Thanks TA.

Have had an eye on a lens from overseas and been waiting for a 10% code to pop up for about a month - was so kicking myself that the few hours I concentrated at work this month coincided with missing the US 20% off offer a few days ago, but given that that code was limited to $100USD off, this actually ended up being a slightly bigger discount.

Anyone know how the ebay "import charges" system works - on top of freight, I've been charged about $300 for import duties. I was expecting approx 10% (about $110) gst and a bit added for admin, but there seems to be an extra $150 on top of that there.

    • +1

Import Charges is not just 10% GST. There is also duties which australian government charges which is like $100.

Essentially what ever you paid is all you need to pay, the import charges would have been added to the final cost that they took out of your paypal account. Therefore it avoids any delays in processing your shipment through customs since they would do a in-flight customs clearance instead of a manual clearance when it arrives in Australia.

I hate eBay Global Shipping Program as they charge ALOT more expensive for shipping, i remember a 100g clothing item they wanted to charge me US$50 for shipping.

      • I hate eBay Global Shipping Program as they charge ALOT more expensive for shipping, i remember a 100g clothing item they wanted to charge me US$50 for shipping.

It's still set by the seller. What's worse is if you need to be refunded. They only ever refund the GSP part as a voucher to use with a short expiry. And you have to chase up hard (eBay/PayPal/GSP keep shafting you off to each of the other ones) to actually receive it as it never appears in your account.

    • Hate to say it, but this is why I chose a local store. By the time you add the duties and tax onto an overseas purchase, it's probably around the same price to buy local with local warranty. I did some serious number crunching last night and weighed up all my options - and today I bought my Canon L series lens locally from Digidirect's eBay site.

    • Normal import is 10% gst + 5% Duty + processing fees anywhere from $80 to $150 unfortunately
      Ebay global program normally more.

Best way is to Negotiate outside of ebay a $800 sale and buy the $800 on eBay and pay the remaining outside in a seperate transaction. Use global program for shipping

My steps to get the max discount

    First post here

Get egift card 5% discount from cash rewards
Get ebay gift card 5% discount from woolies USING Woolworths staff discount

    1) buy egift card from woolworths (5% cash reward discount)

around $80.3225 dollars spent = $84.55 egift card value

    2) buy ebay card from woolies (with 5% woolworths staff discount)

$84.55 egift card value = $89 ebay gift card value

    3) TA ebay discount ($100 minimum spend)

$100 ebay item = $89 discounted ebay value

Therefore $100 ebay value is equal to $80.355 of your money
This is not including 1% cash back so potentially goes down to $79.355 of your money used.

    To summarise:

    a) Almost a 20% sitewide, if you are willing to do the work…..
b)Also you need someone who works in woolies to get this discount
    c) Also I know you cant spend a $89 ebay gift value only at woolies because it only comes in denominations of $50 and $100. So this is good if you are spending more than $100 ebay gift card value.

    • Nice work

      • I just realized you can get a 27.8% discount if you use the PAMPER20 ebay code and without any minimum sped restriction.

        • You can't use more than 1 code at once.

    • "woolies USING Woolworths staff discount"… Give me a job there.

      • -1

If someone has balls to post their woolies staff discount (its just a barcode), then people can get the extra discount.

But I am pretty sure its a big no no on the woolworths policy and maybe the ozb forums.

You can find a family member or a mate who can give it for you.

        • +3

That will get the card canceled and the employee possibly terminated for violating terms of the card. It's not for sharing. And every transaction made with it is tracked.

If you're making hundreds of transactions a day at places all over the country, it's pretty obvious something is going on and it won't last long.

    • Well done, hope your using QFF and Velocity rewards referrel and flybuys 5x eBay offer

  • +3

Bought 2x 3000 litre rainwater tanks. Saved $220. And the tanks were already at a seller-discounted price.

  • Anyone try purchase ebay giftcards from woolworths today pinpad cancelled the transaction with invalid item?

  • +4

This thing has gotten more upvotes than even 15% off sitewide deals.

    Amazing how that works.

  • Are a whole bunch of people gonna get stung by the gubmint's new GST on imported goods if it doesn't arrive into the country in the next 3 weeks before 1 July? That's the only reason why I'm holding off on a purchase…

  • Strange I total 17 items checking out at $100 + postage and it says it can't be applied til I reach the minimum spend?

    • +1

Are some of them in foreign currency? You can't mix them.

    • +1

Max 10 items per transaction to meet the minimum spend might be what’s catching you?

Multiple Eligible Products may be purchased in one transaction (up to a maximum of 10 items per transaction) or $500 in aggregate value.

  • Anyone knows a better deal on Blackvue DR750S-2CH?

Cheapest I can find is by US seller, which will bring it down below AUD$500.

it's driving me nuts trying to get this code to work.. says minimum not reached and then it says the voucher was removed?

    • Code works, my purchases just went through.

  • Just bought my son's the switch pack with a $54 saving!! Thank you agian TA

    • I have this bag and this bag
      and I get the error

This code can't be applied to some of your items.

      Can anyone identify why?

      • Stuff it. I accidentally clicked confirm and pay. The code didn't work.
        Talk about annoyed. :|

Did you change your account to USA for the 20% promotion, if so it won't work.

      • Thanks gravel. That makes sense. I did change it,but narrowly missed that promotion too.

      • I should of used this with my American purchase!

  • LOL rans out of things to buy

    • You can buy eBay by itself. No?

  • Thanks TA! Saved me $66 one a new dishwasher!!

    • No more money down the drain…

  • +5

Proud of myself. I managed to control myself this time around and not impulse purchase. :D

    • +2

Well done, it is a good teaching moment.

I only had one item that seller wants payment in USD, works out to be $49.99AUD with 'free postage'

I can't buy two and sell one, won't qualify for the code, so spent time during the day tracking down USD payment sellers to bump up the cart, but really it's just trash hoarding taking over.

      • +1

but really it's just trash hoarding taking over.

Exactly! One of the bad habits I developed after joining OzBargain was buying things that I didn't need just because they were "on sale". I literally have stuff that I bought ages ago that are still unopened laying around in my apartment everywhere. I am trying to change that habit and make sure anything I buy from now on is something that I definitely need and have a use for rather than impulse-buying aimlessly.

  • you cant get ebay gift card right?

  • You are the King TA

  • Spent $101, saved $11.11 :-P

  • +1

Congrats TA #3 deal of all time - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/stats

The top 3 are now all eBay Deals.

    • +2

Cheers, but there are others that sit with more votes. The stats merely reflect the most votes at that given point in time. In other words, the only way a deal would now make the list is to beat your eBay deal, which would take a lot of doing :)

  • Amazing deal.
Any chance this will be repeated in the near future?
I'm sure Ebay would have seen the power of Ozbargain!

  • +1

… just noticed 10% off tomorrow:
