  • Do i need to show up at the selected time slot?

    • +1

Yes, to keep the crowds less

      • Powerhouse museum only showed 10 am tickets when I got mine but Australian museum had hourly slots for entry e.g. 1030, 1130.

Wonder what happens if you showed up later than the allocated time?

  • Thanks! Haven't been to the Powerhouse Museum since high school :( Keen to check it out again

    • This probably doesn't include the special exhibitions. Still a good deal if you don't mind the crowds.

      • Yeah special exhibitions you need to pay for. It wasn't that crowded when it was free that year

This could be your last chance to see the Powerhouse on the cheap (and crowded). It is set to increase ticket prices by over 200% as part of it's move to Parramatta (family of four ticket = $130+). Source

Meanwhile the world's greatest museum's (Smithsonian/British Museum/etc) never charge any entry fee's. Go figure..

Faarked, innit? Then when no one pays that price to visit, they close down due to 'low patronage and severe losses' meanwhile lining the pockets of their developer pals…

          Thanks! Updated the post :)

        • @marantz:
Can i buy multiple ticket entries by paying a dollar?
Or would i be given just one ticket with a donation option - ending up paying 4x 1$ donations, to get 4 tickets ?

        • +2

Where do we add the $1 donation? Any link please?

        • +1

          @double_J: I can't figure it out either.

        • How do we add the donation?

  • +1

Thanks OP. Got tix for the Australian museum

  • How much is it normally

  • Whats the Powerhouse like these days? I havent been for a good 15 years.

What would be best for a 3 and a 5 year old?

    • +1

I haven't been to the Powerhouse lately either, but we thought the Discovery Centre was really great. We went to the last open day and there were activities and displays that our whole family enjoyed (8 & 12 y.o kids). Volunteers from different community groups shared their expertise and enthusiasm with us. With two younger ones, I would suggest an adult for each kid to make the most of it, but there were plenty of kids cutting loose & having a blast if that's your style. Bring a picnic as there is a lovely garden to play in as well. There was a queue to get into the car park in the first session, but plenty of parking once in.

  • blah, i messed up - saw the whole eventbrite registration page for the observatory last night and told myself i'd do it today. it's now sold out.

if anyone has a couple of spare tickets that would be great.

Kids under 16 entry to Powerhouse is usually free. Do I have to make donations for my kids to get tickets?? Or are they just free/no ticket??

    • +1

Last year I didn't need to register free tix for kids under 16.just walk through after showing adult tix

  • +1

ahhhh is it all sold out now?

  • +2

the museums were really good, especially the Discovery Centre's deep stores tour

I did powerhouse and Australian museum. Both weren't crowded and really good for the kids. Will definitely go next year :)
