    Nice! Just ordered one

    • +12

They work better as a pair.

  • +1

Just be aware the listing says delivery is: "Wed. 4 Jul. and Tue. 31 Jul"

  • Can anybody using an Android recommend these? Not a fan of the price tag or necessarily the design but haven't seen too many alternatives in terms of functionality and build (and battery) for single earbud earphones. I know they're are a ton of choices out there.

    • +1

They will act like any other bluetooth earphone on Android, and you need to use AirBattery apps to check the battery level.

Experience is more streamlined on iPhone.

      • +3

I disagree, they are the best wireless earbuds so far.
I didn't say they are good however, but nevertheless better than Bose or Sony.

Their signal strength is better than those two.

They work very well with Android, but you need to go disable a setting that normalise the volume.

        I have a Huawei P20 Pro….I also own these. I recommended them

I wouldn't recommend it. Apple products perform the best with other products in their 'eco-system'

      • Thanks to all those who responded. Just always had the impression that it was predominantly iPhone owners using these. Looks like I have a bit more reading to do (links bookmarked). Admittingly am more tempted then before.

    • I love mine. As long as bluetooth is on they connect almost instantaneously when I pull them out of the case. Only benefits as far as I know is on an Apple device you can see battery life in the OS. I find sometimes they can come out of sync and one will stop playing. This is rare and can be fixed by putting back in case for a moment or sometimes reconnecting to bluetooth.

  • Thanks OP - Got one for the Miss

  • These are not eligible for GST return if I bring it overseas, are they?

    • +1

Given that the price does not include GST, you cannot ask for a GST refund.

    • +1

Plus I think it has to be > $300 to claim TRS

      • -3

Plus, technically, you are not legally allowed to claim TRS unless you plan to leave the item overseas. If it’s re-entering the country, you’re not allowed to claim TRS.

Everyone does it, but technically it's a scam.

        • +5

Wrong. You can bring back $900 worth of GST free goods including anything you buy overseas. TRS can be used by anyone, nothing illegal about it.

        • +1

@dfung: This is correct, you just have to include the cost of the returning goods towards your incoming allowance. This is not a loophole, hack or scam, it is exactly how the system is designed to work.

        • This is not a scam. Adults have $900 quota they can bring back that they claimed trs on. Family can pool their quota. Say 2 adults and 2 kids. $900 per adult. $450 per child.

If you claim trs on items above your quota like say a laptop. Your are better off not claiming trs as you will have to pay gst back anyway. You could chance it and not declare on your return but if caught you not only pay the gst back. There is also a fine on top.

        • @dfung:

Fair enough! I've only claimed TRS on laptops and camera gear before, so it's always been above the $900 threshold. Several times, I've been warned that I'd better not bring the gear back in.

        • @marlor: and the guess is you brought it back anyway. Don't say you were never warned if you do get done and not only made to payback the gst but also cop a fine on top. It's a risk one takes.

        • @xoom:

No. It all went with me to California. I split my time between there and here.

        • @marlor: in my last trip i had 2k worth of stuff i claimed trs on. Was never coming back with it. So it was ok to claim trs on these items.

You can claim as much as you can bring with you so long as the only thing you bring back is only $900.

      • I was gonna buy two.

  • +2

Great deal. I need some new ones after accidentally swallowing one of my last set.

  • -1

man, how many shipments are going to be held at customs. all the "pay us GST" letters going out, all the paper, envelopes, not to mention all the warehouse space required to hold all the shipments.

    • +6

There are no “pay us GST” letters. No parcels held up. Customs won’t enforce it at all.

The ATO will chase the sellers instead and demand they collect GST from Australian customers.

No consumers will be forced to pay GST if the seller fails to collect it.

Shops with no presence in Australia will probably just tell the ATO to bugger off. Bigger platforms (like eBay) will play ball because they know they will be targeted otherwise, and have an Australian entity to be prosecuted.

      • oh ok, I really hope you are right.
my assumption was that they currently do this for import tax for goods $1000 AUD and over, so I figured they would use the same process for taxing GST on items under $1000 AUD.

  • has anyone used these with a non apple phone? does the pairing work ok … or are there issues with connecting to non apple phone?

  • -1

Is there a better alternative to the apple airpods? Issue is I find the rubber and foam tipped earphones uncomfortable, but could wear apple earphones all day long!

    • +1

imo not yet, unless you get into some weird hifi earbuds ive never heard about before

might be worth waiting to see if apple releases the airpods 2, rumours are they are going to be released sometime this year or early 2019

  • +1

These look bloody ridiculous when people wear them

    • Literally looks like you've stuck golf tees in your ears

      • Or miniature crack pipes

        • braun oral-b replacement heads

    • Agree, but can't see any other way around it if you want truly wireless

  • What’s the warranty situation with these? Do AU stock have a 2 year warranty and Non Au Stock 1 year? Thanks

    • +1

I wanted to pull the trigger on these before they went out of stock so I called Apple Support and they told me they will be covered under 1 year international warranty by Apple so long as proof of purchase is supplied.

      • good enough for me! Thanks!

  • Can this fast forward a when playing a track?

  • -3

i wish these were black to match my skin…white stands out too much
    racist Apple

  • +2

For those hesitant to buy this product.

    Don’t be hesitant, it’s a life changer.

    • I agree that true wireless earphones are a life changer - but AirPods in particular I find are severely lacking in any noise cancellation whatsoever, just like the earphones Apple provide as standard. IMO there are better true wireless alternatives.

    • Agree 100%, I was sceptical… would the sound be any good, would I lose them, would they stay in when running? The sound is excellent, IMO better than Bose SoundSport and Beats Powerbeats which I have used extensively for running. They stay in my ears no problems at all, they're really comfortable and charge really fast.

Are these reusable or should I throw them out and replace after listening to each song?

  • Thanks got a second pair for the wifey.

  • Love the functionality, hate the white colour scheme.

Anybody tried to heat shrink black vinyl cable tubing over the ends?

    • I can see a few issues with that idea. Doesn't tubing shirvel and crease once heated? Not only might it destroy the aesthetics but the extra thickness might stop them from fitting in the case and charging.

I've seen custom coloured ones but they carry a premium price.

Honestly, this product is one of the best earphones i've ever head (overall, not the quality of the sound)

  • Have been wanting to buy these for long time but $200+ price tag has been really off putting.

Then I got JBL E25BT's when holidaying overseas and more than happy with the sound quality and battery life.

Just few things, the clip at the back was broken off the box and seems breaks easily (according to some reviews) and you have some sound travelling to ears when you move your head and the cord travels on your shirt.

  • +2

    I’d be too
    Worried they are fake.

  • Nice deal. Would love to see local stock at this price..

  • Can these be paired to an iPhone and iPad at the same time and easily switched? What about paired to iPhone and an Android and easily switched?

  • Someone commented they would like to see local stock at this price. Are any stores selling them for around $200? Local stores or those with ebay shipping that will get them to me by next week (or click and collect). Really don’t want to wait 3-6 weeks and would pay the extra $30

    • +1

Umart have had them for $199 since they started stocking, you can use this to price match @ Officeworks to get them for $189.05

  • So anyone know if GST is gonna apply to this when it arrives (if in july)?
on product desc says 'The price is final price. NO extra tax' but GST rules starting next month right?

Probably should've just price matched Umart to OW

  • Thanks OP. Got mine today. Super fast shipping. Cheers

    • That’s really fast. Sydney? Bought mine on Friday, shipped yesterday

  • Got mine yesterday. Been using it only for a day, and my right airpod unit stopped outputting audio… nice. At least it's covered for 1y warranty
