Worth mentioning that the Ryzen 2600 can be had for $228.60 after discount.

  • Please forgive me for the dumb question, but I’m on 10 year old tech (Q9450 @3.3). I only use my computer for a couple of games like Football Manager or Flight Sim X. What sort of performance increase would this provide?

I have a soft spot for AMD, my first build was an Athlon 64 3400+ back in 2004(?). Would be cool to go back to their products.

  • lol so shady of CA that they removed the deal for the 1600 when it showed 10 plus in stock

    • Yeah was showing up 10+ units in stock when it was posted, gone after 1 unit sold :( Their explanation is here, but it is still pretty frustrating

      • We were actually short shipped some today that our guys had already manually pushed up to eBay on the assumption they would come in (not something we usually do, and this is why we normally only put up stock we physically have - another minor issue has also been some later than usual shipping on HDD orders because a large shipment was delayed a day after we pushed them up to ebay early at peoples request).

Given we don't know where those CPUs are, we pulled them down from eBay. No physical stock right now of 1600s. We did receive a small batch that covered all but one existing order. Don't think there were a lot of ebay orders on that one anyway, fortunately.

Hopefully the missing boxes will rock up tomorrow, our warehouse manager has already chased it up with the courier/distributor. If they do show, they will go back up, if not won't be guessing when they come in so won't put them back up. We are all getting a bit too weary to handle those sort of issues!

  • I bought an entire upgrade. R5 2600x, X470 Aorus Ultra, 16gb Ram @3200 and 750w PSU for just $890. My last major upgrade was 2013. Thought it was a good time for an upgrade. Would've gone when the i5 8600k but id rather get 6 cores and 12 threads instead 6/6.

Just waiting for GPU prices (as well as tax return) to come down so I can replace my RX480 to either 1070ti or the new Navi 10 (when they come out) cards.

    • Nice
I'm running an I5-4460, 8GB and RX480 and the CPU is really showing it's toll. Especially games like GTA V or Just Cause run absolutely horrible and are unplayable. I envy your setup lol

      • Yea it was due for a major upgrade. I'm happy and got it for a cheap price. Missus and my bank arent so thrilled though.

Question - Did your RX480 work straight out of the box. I had to tinker with the settings of mobo and the card itself. Took me like half a day to figure it out. I had to change WAttman settings. Still crashes once a month.

        • Sorry to hear you had issues. I bought mine used like most of my components (other than case and my OS SSD) so I've yet to run into any.

Might do something with GPUs tomorrow - we have not quite closed a few big deals. If I'm not asleep by then, that is.
