Damn you! Just bought nocure's deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/386594) this very second! I will hand in my OzBargain badge for missing $1.02… ;)

  • What is this eBay plus thing. Are these deals restricted in some way?

    • +2

Just that they have ridiculous postage eg $19 for an ssd and ebay plus is free postage ……

Question is will the sellers who currently do free postage charge postage in future and drop their prices so buyers go plus ?

  • Too many SSD deals… what's going on?
(not that I am complaining though)

    • They arent 1 tb deals ….just the comodity sizes.

    • +1

      Would you like 120GB, 240GB, 250GB or 500GB?

      • if it’s $135 for 500 gb, $270 for 1tb would grab my interest but not to be for some reason ….they are more than 2x500 gb yet less parts eg only 1 controller, vase, etc.

    • Noticed that myself. Either there is a dumping of 500Gb drives by all because 1 TB are going to fall as NVe drives come mainstream in that size or 2tb SSDs are going to become a cheap option forcing the 120, 250 and 500 out of the picture as viable anymore?

Guess it gets to a point where if like me you have 6 drive bays with 4 sata 3 ports and 2 sata 2 ports you can only keep so many small ssds and mechanical drives thinking now my old reliable 120Gb intel drive from years ago is only good for a fast swap page drive now while my dvd/BD drive is only installed when I need to load a new game from disk rather than dl 40 gb and use most of my 200gb net per mth

  • Front page is basically all eBay

  • 1TB deals when?

    • +9

Hang on, just jumping in my DeLorean now.

    • This is the question we want answered!

    • True. I checked the 1 TB price and it is not that much savings, though still a good price.

ebay Plus 15, 500gb Samsung 860 - New Boot drive now owned! Saturday night OzBargaining - Where did my life go??!!

Great 1st post mate. Got one. Dont need it now, but will be good for replacing existing 250 GB one taken BF5 is coming in coming months :)

  • can two ssds be used at the same time? would it depend on the motherboard?

    • +1

      Yes. Same as a hdd

      • does it matter if the one is sata, and the other one is m.2?

        • -1

Not sure. Maybe a raid configuration will work

        • +4

RAID between an m.2 NVMe SSD and a regular SATA would be ridiculously stupid.

I use three sata drives in RAID 0 and would not recommend it, boot times and general usage are actually slower.

I'd put both in your system as separate drives, install say steam games on your other drive and have your other programs on your main drive.

        • @BenR31415:

actually i was wondering about this. my concern was slot-wise that if i can use both of them on the same motherboard.

        • @baldur: any modern desktop motherboard should have at least 4 SATA ports, maybe some OEM ones might have as little as two. If your motherboard is high end enough to have an m.2 then you should have plenty of SATA ports. Remember that if you have an internal optical drive that'll use one, but you still should be fine.

If you'd like to check, check device manager or install aida64 or hwinfo and let me know the model of your motherboard.

Is it easy to replace the hdd on my Dell laptop with this?
    Thanks in advance

    • +1

Yes, most laptops have an easily accessible hdd compartment at the bottom. The hardest part is setting up your system from scratch.

      • Thanks

    • +1

Hey, I have removed the back of dell latitude.
It is pretty straight forward once you remove the back cover.
Be a little brave when removing the back(ensure that you remove the clipped parts patiently)

  • WTF So cheap!!! I'm tempted to buy another one.

  • codes not working for me

OP, congrats for your first post wonder. Keep posting! 😊

  • Was going to upgrade from my trusty 120gb to 250gb but for an extra $40 odd may as well go the 500GB I guess.

Damn these things have come down nicely since I purchased the 120 many years back.

    Thanks OP

  • Good first post OP.

  • Thanks heaps op. Have a 128gb that has windows and it has been almost full for years now, this should be neat for installing games and other such programs for that added speed. Also was able to cancel the Ebay Plus right after purchasing the product.

  • Is there something wrong? the ssd has not been shipped after ordered 3 days…

    • Same here.

    • well most sellers dont work on weekends and they certainly dont post on weekends…

  • Mine hasn't been shipped either. Messaged them via ebay, will update here with the reply

    • Perhaps PC Meal wants to try out eBay Plus Premium Customer Services for itself.

      • Got my tracking number

        • Is it valid? Does it actually track?

        • @alvian: Yup, Auspost app reckons it will be delivered tomorrow

        • @No Child Support: Sydney Metro delivery tracking:
Shipping information received by Australia Post, Tue 26 Jun • 05:32pm
Picked up from sender, Tue 26 Jun • 06:50pm
          Delivered, Wed 27 Jun • 10:55am

  • Mine has been shipped through notification, arriving this week and I bought it before posting the deal.

Seller has since sold 400 SSDs so give them a couple of days to sort out shipping.

I might be wrong but they are a small aussie business operated locally and have 100% feedback so I wouldn’t be too worried about order not coming through.
