PICKSMITH

I'm a massive fan of these machines, we have over 20 of them at work & they work really well (for general business / office use, they are not gamers). This is a spectacular price for the i5 with 8GB ram (small SSD but enough for work use).

Stunning to get one for under $1k.

  • Love the design. My workhorse for seeing client and amazing battery life even as a 6th gen cpu.

  • 3 year onsite NBD warranty?

  • Laptop is useless once the battery runs out as Microsoft wants you to buy a new laptop or pay $$$ to get a refurbished one by returning yours. This is ridiculous! Waste of money

    • I thought they advertise these inbuilt battery new age laptops as ok as the charge cuts out when left fully connected to ac?i still prefer the old style laptoos and being able to physically remove batteries.

  • just wondering, do the base are interchangeable? can this top screen be attached/used on Surfacebook 2 base?

  • Just received mine, looks brand new :) Not a scratch on the body or screen. Only thing i hope is they have a brand new battery!

    • You've received yours already?! I placed my order on the 28th and it still hasn't shipped :(

      • my refurbished 256 gb one hasn't shipped yet.. expected to ship on the 26th aparently ! have you gotten yours?

  • Has anyone received theirs yet? I received mine but it doesn't seem to charge? can only plug in power to have it operated. Does the system need to be updated to charge properly?

    • Did you get an update in ebay that your item is shipped? I am still waiting

      • yeah i did, they also sent a tracking number for it

    • I would guess defective…

What does the battery info say in Windows?

      • yeah I'm thinking it came as a defective item, it keep alternating between 0% and 100% and both the screen the and keyboard show 0% not charged, just wondering if anyone also encounter the same problem?

    • I received mine on the 5th of July 2018. The battery on the keyboard is not charging. I updated to the latest formware, drivers & Windows OS as per Microsoft instruction but the battery on keyboard is not charging. I have contacted DicksmithAU via eBay on the 5th of July and I have not get any response from them. I registered the Surface Book on Microsoft website and found out that the warranty of the Surface Book I received is only 9 months remaining. It looks like they shipped a refurbished unit to me.

      • When you say keyboard is not charging, were you able to charge the screen itself, what is your percentage of charge amount when you received it? My is at absolute 0%. I got a respond initially but after a replying to them on the 5th, they haven’t got back to me since. They offered to replace charging cable but now that you mention you’re getting a refurbished one, i’m going to check mine also and maybe will just do a refund, this unacceptable

(Updated): just registered my product and it ended up having only 8 months remaining for warranty, i’m never buying from dicksmith/kogan ever again. I’m gonna report them for making a fraud transaction giving us refurbished item

  • They still haven't shipped the item……anyone have received notification?

    • I got in touch with them about dispatch and they sent a response apologising for not being able to fulfill orders on time with a $20 voucher towards my next purchase. They claim dispatch will be within a fortnight but are also offering refunds. Seeing how some of the folks here have received defective units with sketchy warranties, I'm pretty goddamn tempted to get a refund.

      • I sent my back, the customer service team is full of crap, they never responded to me (I organised a refund through Ebay plus). Be careful they could be waiting to receive my stock and then send them to you, these people are so unreliable.

        • Fair cop, cancelled my order because the prospect of a return was too much.

        • @Aeongrave: Really? how much is to return?

        • @kjhooker: Not the cost so much as the hassle. Post office's and me don't get along well at the best of times.
