    Great microwave. If knob gets squeaky, just give it a good ole lubing up.

  • Another recommendation for this microwave here. Good microwave.

  • I thought microwaves with a dial were clunky?

    • +2

      The other version you have to leave the door open to use the controls. Dumbest thing I've ever seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7S2SpDeHVo

      • Doesn't seem that bad, you are going to open the door to put food in, test the heating of food to adjust extend heating? They also show in that same video it can quick start and extend a 100% heat setting with the door closed. First world problems?

      • +1

        It's not a problem at all.. My model is like that… I hardly use those settings…

  • Have had this for a year now and no squeaky dial. Only con I can think of is you can only adjust the time in increments of 10 seconds

    • Up until 1 min, then it jumps up to 30sec then 1min. Works great.

  • 1200W makes it cook things fast.

    OP what did you mean by "combo"?

    • microwave + convection combo

      • No, are you sure?!? I can't see anything about this model being convection or combination.

        • +15

          I think combo means that you get fries and Coke with it.

        • You are right, its not, 3966 model is.

          Thanks for pointing, edited

    How's the baby version of this?

    • +12

      Smaller and less mature.

    • Scab-like.

  • I like being able to see what's happening in the microwave- catastrophes can be avoided. Is there any practical advantage to making it black or is it purely form over function?

    • +1

      You can see inside this when it’s on

      • Good. I've only had experience with one black microwave, on holiday, and you couldn't see anything.

        • +7

          Usually when it's black it just means it needs to be cleaned. Try that next time you're on holiday and report back

        • +2

          @wozz: Usually it's because the light inside has blown. You can replace the light bulb, but in my old microwave it would have required quite a bit of disassembly to get to the light bulb.

        • +1

          @macrocephalic:

          Sometimes, but I have a Samsung microwave with such dark tint that all you can see through it is the bulb itself. Forget having any idea if your food has exploded.

    • +1

      This model uses LED for lighting so no issues seeing what's in it.

  • +1

    Mine screws with the wi-fi signal.

    • +3

      Same here! I thought it was just all microwaves in general 🤔

      • Nope. Just this great model.

        • Ahh ok mine must be last years version as it doesnt have a knob.

    • Just when it's heating food? Or all the time?

    • Move to 5Ghz and it won't be an issue..

      • Not so great with my Bluetooth headphones!

        Good microwave apart from the interference

    • +1

      Probably leaks radiation

    • Microwave ovens operate @ the 2450MHz frequency, so easiest way to resolve this is to a 5GHz router.

  • +2

    how about this smaller version?
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122736842976

    • +1

      I have the smaller version in Stainless Steel ($193 The Good Guys). I like that it fits in my kitchen microwave shelf better with 8cm gaps all round for airflow. It is powerful for its size with quick heating and a modern look. There is a slightly annoying tune that plays when the heating is finished. I dont really notice it now. Recommended by Choice in 2017 review.

      • Worst microwave tone ever award.

    • +1

      I have this. It's also very good but quite small. Have a look in store beforehand to see if it's acceptable. Also 1000w vs 1200w

    • +1

      Differences:
      25L vs 42L
      1000W vs 1200W
      No sensor heating on the 25L model
      No control knob on the 25L model (makes no difference really)
      All other features are identical between the two models, including heating and defrosting modes

      Source: LG's website

    • There's also this, slightly smaller and $20 cheaper. Only difference I can see is the more traditional door/control styling, listed features are the same. I'll try to look at them and compare in store if I can.
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/112976016342

      • Ironically, that 23L model has a slightly larger footprint (+6mm) than the 25L - be aware if you're looking for something that takes up less bench space

  • Out of topic (may be?) But does anyone has experience in deferring the click'n'collect to a month later.. I need it in a month or two.. I can take it now but would not want to lose warranty .. I had jb hifi make a delayed delivery once.. but never had a similar experience with c'n'c.. or the easier way to put it is .. how long before the c'n'c expires and the sale is cancelled?

    • I know keyboards are easier than phones but what are you asking here for? Call your store to ask. Any other answer is irrelevant. Yeesh.

      • +1

        Sure, sir. Your username checks out.

    • +1

      30 days with TGG to pick-up before they cancel and refund I believe. So pick it up towards the end of that or call the store and ask for more time when you get closer to the date.

  • Good guys jacked prices on the 2 things in my cart.

    • +1

      You mean the items on sale yesterday you put in your cart and chose not to buy then came off sale today.

    Our office has a touch LG convection. It's sh-t. The touch doesn't respond at least a third of the time (I'm under exaggerating if anything) and why do modern convection ones need a cool down when old models didn't?

    They don't make them like they used to.

    • The touch version of this microwave?

  • This LG doesn’t fit my cabinet unfortunately

    Anyone got any idea about this 34L Samsung?

    https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Samsung-ME6124ST-1-34L-1000W-S…

    • +2

      Note that the height and depth have been switched around in the product listing. Hope this helps!

  • +3

    Please note that the height and depth on this have been switched around on the eBay listing (as well as on the TGG website listing). This is kind of obvious from looking at the picture, but I've also confirmed it over the phone.

    The correct measurements are:
    H: 310 mm
    W: 540 mm
    D: 434 mm

    (It would also be impossible to fit the "360mm turntable" in it if the depth was only 310mm.)

    • Thanks Zak. Almost got the 25L cause of the dimension swap! Went to JBHifi today and realized the dimension logic. :)

    Does this oven have an air frying function?

  • How much of this is just because people are trusting Choice's recommendations? It looks sleek but from what I read, it does not seem to be any better or worse than other similar powered inverter microwaves?

    • In all seriousness, I've never owned a 'bad' microwave (had a great, fairly inexpensive Samsung before this) and this is as good or better. Plus the fact that it looks great (if it matches your kitchen).

  • Noticed the Code difference. There is the MS4266-(OBS) (Colour) and there is the MS4296-(xxx) at JBs and HV. Cant find the difference in the model specs?

    • Found the diff. One 96 is Touch screen only for easy clean and sleak look xxxx66 is with Dial / and touch menu.

    • +5

      Model explanations:
      MS-42-66-OBJ
      Range-Litres-Spec-Colour

      MJ = Convection + Inverter
      MS = Inverter

      42 = 42L (1200W) with sensor cook
      25 = 25L (1000W) no sensor cook
      23 = 23L (1000W) no sensor cook

      66 = touch panel + knob front
      96 = touch panel only, slightly lower RRP (but same spec/features)
      36 = touch panel only, no sensor cook (42L model)

      OSS = silver frame (black door)
      OBS = black frame (black door)
      DW = white

      Features are identical between models unless stated. Ranked highest RRP to lowest for each category

    Great microwave, damn annoying completion tune!!

    Instead of the usual beep, it plays, and replays, and replays a tune.

    • Haha, yep, it's super retarded. Oh well, at least it's a good microwave and cheap!

    • +1

      Do you know how to mute this chime?

      • +1

        I found the following posted by LG on a support site:

        "We apologize for the inconvenience there is not a mute option for this microwave."

  • link goes straight to ebay main page for me :(

  • Every time I try to buy it I get the following error:

    Something went wrong. Please try to check out again.

    Error codes: 70049 70084

    Anyone else experienced this?

    I tried both PayPal and Amex.

    • same

      • I got around it by changing the store i am picking up from.

  • What’s with the knob? Wife thinks it may be irritatingly clunky to use.

    My local TGG does not have them near enough to a power point to see how it works…

    If I turn a little bit to get 10 seconds, then do I turn it 180 times as much to get 30 minutes, or does it increase the time increment the more it is turned?

    • The one without the knob is much better

  • link not working for me. anyone else ? just goes to a default ebay page

    • +1

      working ok here

  • thanks OP. Was under pressure to get one for the missus. Should do the trick.

  • +3

    $200 for a microwave - Is this the iphone of microwaves?

    • inverter microwave, so yeah it's not like the $100 microwaves

  • How do I mute the tune on it?

    • You can't.

  • Thanks OP. i was in the market for one.

  • Mine need for send to warranty repair after 1 and half year with very minimal usage. My last Panasonic Microwave lasted 10 years and it’s still working. The only reason I change to this was because the coating started to peal. It is a good price for the specs but I think it is not built to last.

  • Cheers OP, pulled the trigger on the 25L!

    • Same. Thanks OP
