    Probably worth mentioning…

Need to earn $75,000 p/a and minimum credit limit of $15,000

Also they say 75,000 points will get you a return flight from Melbourne to Sydney… sheesh!

    • 75,000 points will get you 3 economy fares from Melb->Bris return. I know because I just got my 75k bonus points from this card and used them to book the flights.

EDIT: Just to note, I had the ANZ Black Qantas card w/ no fee and 75k bonus qantas points.

      • Are the flights in high season? I tried booking flights from Mel to Cairns during school holidays with my 83K+ Qantas points and got quoted about 1.5 fares one way (!). Ended up spending them on two nights at a second rate hotel through Qantas hotels and even had to add $150 as it was not enough. Incredibly poor value!

On the other hand, 68K Virgin points got me 3 one way fares to Cairns. Twice as better!

    • Can it be 75k per household too? I know amex does it, but dont know abot ANZ

    • The problem with these cards is that while the earn rates are comparable to the Qantas ones (i.e., 1 point per $ after transfer), their headline bonus points are the same number as the Qantas ones (75k or whatever). But ANZ points transfer to Velocity at 2:1 and it's stingier for KrisFlyer or Asia Miles. Better if you can hold out for a points transfer bonus, as carleast mentions in this post.

      • Pretty sure these are 2 points per $.

Points transfers are not worth it even with.bonuses. You’re better off exchanging the points for supermarket gift cards, and spending the money you would have spent at the supermarket on flights of instead with full flexibility on who and when you book.

This one is worth about $320 in gift cards + your spend, so you really need to cancel before the annual fee unless you spend a huge amount.

When I last looked at it as well this was still more back in $ of gift cards than you get in$ of flights from frequentl flyer cards

75000 velocity points gets you a one way flight to a number of places in Europe with Etihad before taxes. 75k ANZ points is worth about 66k in velocity points when the special conversion offer is on.

    • +10

How do you get 66k velocity points from 75k ANZ reward points? The booster is max 40-50% (when they have it), so at 2 reward points for 1 velocity point, that gives 56,250 assuming 50% on top?

      • Knightelf wins the maths here.

It's a decent card, effective earn rate 1.5 velocity points per dollar spend. Unfortunately I tend to blow past the $5k/month limit and it drops to half after that, and the fee is high, so will probably drop it before the annual fee is charged.

    • What’s the conversation offer? A semi regular offer to send them to velocity points?
From what the other guy said directly it’s a return syd/melb flight. Sounds terrible compared to the previous qantas offers.
My 12 months since my last ANZ card is up, it might be worth waiting though…

      • It's not a big sign up bonus. There are a couple of times a year you can transfer at bonus rates, 30%-50%, so if you transfer at the best time it's 75k/2*1.5 = 56.25k.

Earn rate is good, although it halves over 5k/month.

Pointhacks has more details about the transfer bonus history; they're not guaranteed, but they're pretty regular. https://www.pointhacks.com.au/velocity-transfer-redemption-b…

These ANZ deals are getting worst and worst. Back then it was 75K QANTAS points with 2500 minimum spend.

I signed up for St George Amplify and just received my 90K points after $5,000 minimum spend.

These ANZ deals are getting worst and worst

      Just like the English, eh?

        • +10

You have got to be joking.

What does pointing out someone's obviously-incorrect English have to do with race?

        • +2

          @KaptnKaos: Whoosh

    • is there an annual fee with the St George offer?

    • +1

      Lol @ $5000 minimum spend

    • +1

How is it getting worse? This is the same ANZ Rewards/FF offer that cycles around: $75k for $2500 spend in 3 months with no fee first year unlike St George.

      • +1

before it was 75K QANTAS points, now its only rewards

I've held the ANZ black within the last 12 months so that's why I'm ineligible for the ANZ offers.

Edit: Actually, the better deal is here

        https://www.anz.com.au/promo/personal/credit-cards/ib-freque…

Qantas points are worth more than Rewards points.

        • +1

You're thinking of the frequent flyer black, this is rewards.

        • @F-22: the black FF offer is also back. Rewards works better for virgin points especially when 50% bonus is active.

        • @Gandalf the Thrifty:I've only cancled my ff black 6 months ago so I can't get that yet. As far as I'm aware I can still get the points on the reward card though.

        • @F-22: that is also my understanding of the conditions. I had a Rewards when applied for FF and should still get points in next statement.

        • +1

@Gandalf the Thrifty: I don't think the annual fee is waived on that one though?

    • How long did it take for your bonus points to appear?

      • 1 week after I paid off the statement on the month I reached my $2.5K spend.

I was curious so I changed the URL to include platinum, and it looks like there is a similar deal on rewards platinum here

50,000 rewards points, no fee for the first year, but only a $35K minimum pay needed.

    • +1

I was curious about this and changed the URL some more to find a similar deal on the Black Frequent Flyer card here.

75,000 Qantas points, no fee for the first year.

My Aug17 card was closed in Mar18 so I'm ineligible.

      • Yea, also with the FF platinum, I created its own deal, since their separate cards and are better for Qantas points.

  • Is this card Apple Pay compatible ?

    • Yes, and Android pay. Set up on my Android and my wife's iPhone.

    • yes, have one on my phone

    • Yes

  • Is it just me or has the value of rewards dipped compared to last year?

    • +1

      Yes. RBA.

    • +1

It was inevitable with the capping of interchange fees; banks get less money, so are less generous. You'd be hard pressed to get your money's worth out of the card if you were paying the annual fee.

      • +2

Thank you ely & Kaptn! Thought I was missing something. Missed the boat on point heavy reward programs due to be credit card shy for too many years…

  • Any restrictions on whether you've applied and received the bonus from an old offer?

I think I signed this one last year when they had a deal

  • +2

Careful when cancelling the card to ensure they do it, I found out five months after closing the account that my card was still active.

    • Same, but asked specifically for a letter of closure..that came, followed by a statement 5 months later. Anzs explanation "no idea why". I think it had something to do with the old Amex ending and confusing the system leaving / Re opening the visa part.

    • They record all calls, so in the event of any dispute ask them to refer to the recorded cancellation phonecall.

Any other annual fee free cards going at the moment with decent bonus points that is not ANZ?

    • +1

      Pretty much this
Westpac platinum, decent points, 2 credit checks though and the complimentary insurance isn't as good.

  • Bugger still have to wait to Nov for 12 months to be up :(

  • I have just got my points. What is the best way to utilize those points?

    • -1

Sell them here for 1.2 cents per point

  • Question. can i sign up the card, spend and collect the 75000 points and cancel the card after 3 or 4 months? Or do i have to keep it for a year?
I can spend $2500 easily in 2/3 months on bills. But could gain something with the points.

  • Will l qualify if l closed my ANZ FF Black few months ago? Or it rejects you from any ANZ card within 12mths?

  • Does anyone have any experience with the lounge program included as part of this card? Can't seem to see the included lounges on the Veloce website without having a membership :S

    • I can’t see anything on their website when I enter my card number, their app tells me my card isn’t valid, and reviews online seem to say they’re getting turned away from the lounge. I wouldn’t count on getting access through this.

    • Yeah….I got this card a couple of weeks ago just for that. Lounge access is extremely limited. Only India, auckland and Tokyo I. Asia/paciy …hence the reason I'll send it back after point collection. It's a bit weird that you only find this out after you get the card.

  • The T&C says no, but I’m sure someone here has figured out how to repeatedly capitalize on some of these signup bonuses even after owning and cancelling a few credit cards…
Any serial signup bonus ozbargainer care to share some advice?

  • Is the 12 month wait from the point you started your last ANZ Frequent Flyer card? Or 12 months since you closed it?
Is this the same for most/all other card providers?

    • It clearly says "opened or closed within the last 12 months…"

  • Terms and condition : These fees are current as at Monday, 20 June 2016.
Is this old promotion? I called customer care, there is no such promotion where annual fee is waived off.
I'm Confused, can anyone please suggest?

    • It's an ANZ internet banking deal (in reality targeted for current ANZ customers) however people have still been approved and have gotten the offer without being ANZ customers.
If you want to be official, you can sign up for a savings account with anz, then apply for the card.
