  • 75hz

    • added to title

    • Is that good enough for office use, movies and gaming

      • +4

Certainly good enough, most 'standard' monitors are 60hz.

        Enthusiast gamers like 120hz+

        • Thank you!!!

        • good for office, you have full 1080p for work and a bit above and below to see other stuff, i was after a 4k ips 28” or pref 32” but they are $500 min so this might do as an interim.

      • I find anything over 72hz is bloody golden.

Everyone stops noticing frame rates at different spots, for me 68hz seems to be it, so 72~75 is great.

      • At first you will even notice the difference in gaming. It will eventually fade away though and you will get used to it, definitely more than enough as long as you aren't a SERIOUS gamer.

        • All you have to do to notice it is go back to 60Hz …

    • Is that at 1440p, can't see it mentioned anywhere else

  • Wish more FreeSync monitor options open up besides the aoc which has a ghosting problem

    • -2

On the plus side, GPU's are FINALLY coming down in price, so there will be no need for freesync soon.

It was a solution to a problem we never should have had (frame rate drops).

      • +1

Unless you're playing a game that's visually the same thing at all points in time…like a white screen, you're always going to have a performance requirements that go up and down. You either make the choice to turn down the settings so you hit 60/75hz at even the most demanding, or you use tech like g/freesync to keep settings high and handle the occasional drop in fps.

    • The AOC also has an issue with low power state which is very annoying even though I don't use it as a primary display.

  • +1

I have heard 1080p at 27" isn't enough pixel per inch, does anyone have any experience with 1440p at 32"?

    • +5

32" at 2k resolution is too soft. 27" with 2k is a better match.

it's like having a 27" with 1080p, you'd feel like you'd have to go to Specsavers.

      • +5

i have a 27" at 1080p, and it's just right for me at the distance i have it on my desk. The fact that i've actually booked an appointment with Specsavers is a complete coincidence.

      • +2

        nahh

this is same PPI as 24" FHD 1080p

        • Yeah which is kinda adequate, but 24/1080p is oldschool ppi. I want some of that sweet sweet 100+ ppi =D

In all seriousness, pick the 'right size' of monitor for how close you sit to it, and then pick your resolution based on budget/gpu/scaling preferences.

    • +1

It depends on how far away you sit from the monitor.

Some people get a large monitor just so they can move it farther away from their eyes. In that situation, 1080p can be perfect and 1440p too small.

But if you want a larger workspace (i.e. same distance from your face as a smaller monitor, you just want more screen space), then 1080p might be a bit rough for some. 1440p would be better. It will look the same as a 24" 1080p monitor (both 0.27mm dot pitch).

    • I use a 1080p @ 32" for work. It's good enough for general productivity. I haven't tried for gaming - I didn't buy it for that anyway.

    • I have an older viewsonic 32" at 1440p, it's sweet because I need the extra real estate for video editing / motion graphics. Love it to bits and next to it is a 24" 1080P so I think it's a good match.

    • I've just gone from a 1080p 27" to a 1440p 27" and the difference is night and day. If you're going to buy a new monitor at 27" I think you should deffo get 1440p.

If you're going to a 32" then you can go 1440 I guess … but I imagine it will be like a 1080p 27"… Pretty average.

Also note that this monitor can't output 75hz at 1440p.

  • +1

It should also be noted that delivery is in a months time.

    • Yea I just noticed that.

      • Wonder why it take so long, the item is in Sydney.

        • no stock

          disti also no stock

          this is preorder

        • @phunkydude: where did it say no stock? i just see it said more than 10 available?

    • Damn, didn't notice that.

Just signed up for ebay plus and thought they start doing delivery over the weekend.. lel…

      • no stock

        disti also no stock

        this is preorder

    • I just noticed that as well.. added to the description

  • Is it 75hz at 1440p, also has anybody used it for gaming if so is their much ghosting?

  • I have 27inch at 1080p. It too pixelly. Need to upgrade badly to 1440p.

    • Just done this recently myself and you're right, 27" 1080p looks like crap. 1440p is lovely on a 27" IMO.

    • +1

      I have a 27" at 1080p at work and a 27" at 1440p at home.

The monitor at work is farther away from me than the monitor at home.

      They both look fine.

The distance you sit from the screen matters. There's a point of diminishing returns where higher resolutions won't look better after certain distances as your eyes can't resolve such fine detail.

      • That too maybe sitting too close.

  • +1

DAMMIT… just bought this same monitor for $349 at MWave pick up 5 days ago… ugh

Great monitor btw for standard office and movie use… zero dead pixels and very bright / contrast
    Happy with purchase.

    • Ditto but about three weeks ago so a bit less of a sting.

The backlight bleed and OSD controls are a weak point. My 27" 1440P IPS Kogan didn't have as much backlight bleed I'm sure

      • yeah, backlight bleed is bad on 1 corner

    • it's still a good price at that time

    • i got it at 291 a month ago … using usa ebay 20% sitewide

    • I should add, I have almost zero to none backlight bleed… So it appears I have got lucky and won a mini lottery in that sense.

      I'm reading here delivery is a month…

So I'm actually good with my purchase now… Monitor gods appear to have taken care of me in this instance (phew)

  • got 2…….. now gonna wait a month for shipping

    • The way deals are these days i couldn't wait that long knowing something better might come up in that time D:

      • yea already the AOC looks like a better deal $260 for similar spec

        • I ended up getting a Acer predator 27 inch…

          woops

  • Thought it was 4k. Sigh.

  • Was considering the 43" earlier but this one may just be more realistic. Might pick this up for my flight simmming.

    • 32" too small for flight simming

      not immersive enough

      • Anything bigger and it won't be that useful for general work. Can always go VR for full immersion later.

    • Somehow I read that as "fight swimming" and thought that would be funny

  • Thanks. Just bought one. I have a 27'' 2K at work and it looks nice. A 32'' FHD at home for PS4 and general use it looks alright. 2K 32'' will be an upgrade for me

Picking this one over the AOC because of the VESA mounting holes

  • +1

Dumb question: Is this an upgrade over a Dell U3011? I use my current one mainly for gaming, videos and browsing. Tempted to get something larger (and presumably more energy friendly).

    • I'm wondering the same thing - and if this isn't an upgrade, what other models would be a good upgrade of the U3011?

  • Avoid this guys, the stand has a design issue and is very wobbly. Also if you want the excat same panel in AOC, just go for the AOC Q3279VWFD8(newer model), both of them have similar IPS-ADS panel and save the $50 over this. Whoever bought this will not be happy at all, as there are lot of issues reported with debris effcet on the screen and terrible IPS glow

  • This is an extra 5 inches for $33 bucks over the other Viewsonic front=page monitor deal.
What guy wouldn't take that deal?

  • +1

    AOC = no VESA mount

  • any suggestion for 2 X 27'' gaming monitor (2k, at least 75hz)? Cheers,

    • Do you require any form of adaptive sync? If your GPU is anything under a 1070 or amd equivalent I would suggest adaptive sync.

Also, do you need 2 gaming monitors? I suggest an ultrawide if you're gaming across 2 screens.
If you only game on one screen, I recommend a dedicated gaming monitor for that and a nice IPS for the 2nd screen.

  • Any stand (with height ajustable suggestion) for this monitor (find it too high), but not too expensive?

    • Look for VESA mounts or monitor arms at Officeworks and Staticice.

  • Is there a huge difference between these and the wide screen?

Looking for a montior for music production, potentially with a 24" on each side or at least on one side.

  • Just bought this. Thanks.

  • Just bought one thanks. Looks like delivery has now been updated to next week.

    • Have you received your order yet? why is it taking so long.

  • I still haven't receive the monitor too..

    • did you send them a message? I sent them a message and they never reply, are they for real?

  • +1

    Got mine today.

    • I don't have mine yet and it's driving me batty!

Hence going back and looking at this expired deal's comments…

      o.o

      • +1

Mine was shipped by Toll and had tracking. I believe it was air mail too.

      • Still have not received mine.
Ordered on 18/7 and ETA said 24/7 to 26/7.
Messaged seller but no response yet.
Hope it comes this week !!!

        • +1

Never mind that…it was just delivered now :)

        • @Benatron: I ordered on the same date but haven't got any update from the seller re shipping yet. Have you got a chance to check if there is any dead pixel/backlight bleeding with this monitor?
