Let's hope it doesn't get knocked out in 48s like Rhonda Rousey.

  • Down Down Keep going Down

  • better than the A400 one, faster, good choice

    • +2

      Yep.

  • what are some good external enclosures for all these SSD deals?

    • That depends on what port you are going to use them on.

    • +1

I have this one on the way after buying my WD green SSD a few weeks back. Seems to rate very highly, if you’re willing to wake a few weeks.

      • +3

        Nah. Need my sleep

        • No damn it, you’ll stay awake till it gets delivered!

    • For me it shows 110 (I have the a400)

  • So Shopping Express or PC Byte eBay or Wait ? as I am not sure what I be needing it for right now lol

  • I get this "This code can't be applied to your order." when I typed PROXY. Anyone know why?

    • +1

          Welcome back to Straya! 🛬
Do you have anything to declare?

  • +1

    Begun, the price war has.

    • And now I'm here feeling stupid having spent $170 on a MX500 only a few months ago.

  • +1

dang, paid 71 cents more a day ago

  • Just paid slightly more few days ago

    Arghhh…

  • What the best place to pick up some SATA cables for installing addition SSD?

    • eBay/AliExpress

      • Do certain cable (brand) work better then others, or are they all the same?

        • They either work or they don't.
I've had some that transfer at 1MB/s.
Swapped the cable out, and the harddrive works at 90MB/s (supposed to be that speed..)
I think I bought 5 at a time for redundancy.

        • @cwongtech: Thanks for the advice.

        • +5

          @cwongtech:

          either work or they don't.

You’re contradicting yourself. At “1MB/s” it is working, just not as well as swapped cable at “90MB/s”. So, obviously, there is a range between “working” and not (attributed to CRC).

UV400 faster, but it consumes more electricity and is more hot.

    • +1

      That's an excellent point.

Yesterday the UV400 was shown on Kingston's website, and today it's gone.

However you can still compare power consumption by clicking 'Specifications' for both the A400 and the UV400 (cache).

Looks like 120G only available now…

    • All items in the title are still available.

      • You're right, I will read it properly next time :)

        • +1

No, only 120GB of the UV400 is available and from the A400 version all except the 120GB

  • +1

    uv400 oos

but still avail at separate listing at 71 cents more

  • Do these drives come with mounting brackets for 3.5" drive bays?

    • Doubt it.

  • If I'm planning to put this into a laptop for a 10 year old, will I regret getting the A400 instead of the OOS UV400. (I've already ordered it, so it's all academic now)

    • Doubt it - there's not much in it.

Performance of the A400 is only a little below the UV400, but it does run cooler (though i doubt given the low watts that's an issue with either of them).

  • +1

480 GB model is sold out.
