I’ve been reading a lot about monitors since buying my 1080 the other day, but can’t really see why you’d want a gaming gsync monitor at 60hz?

Sorry for the nub question, I get current gen cards probably aren’t pushing 4k high frame rates but why would anyone want a 60hz monitor for gaming ?

    Any input would be appreciate.

    • It depends on the games they play, but generally speaking this is an interim piece of tech.

Better off buying a VRR TV for your home and plugging your machine into that.

Yeah high refresh rate is infinitely superior, the 165hz/1440p/G-Sync/IPS monitors are truely the sweet spot for gaming.

I like my Apple 27" 2560x1440 monitor for gaming because the only way to get a higher refresh rate at 2560x1440p or above and a top notch IPS panel is to spend an arm and a leg.

When it comes time to upgrade; g-sync, ultrawide, colour accuracy and uniformity to me are more important than a higher than 60hz refresh rate if there's a 2x price jump going to 100hz+.

Because 144Hz 4K cost an arm, a leg, two kidney and half a lung. Also, Gsync is much more important for under 60Hz than when you're over 60Hz. If you can maintain >60Hz, the drop is much less noticeable compare to the drop under 60Hz.

Careful man, I wrote the same thing as you and was downvoted to hell for saying it's too expensive.

  • Better off getting the 27" 144hz 1440p IPS here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/390854 for $719 instead of a low 60hz TN panel.

Not worth the jump to 1440p on the lowest hz panel imo.
