[eBay Plus] Sony DSC-RX100 VI Cyber-Shot Camera $1,251.64 Delivered @ Ryda eBay

210
PROXY

You get a 24-200mm zeiss lens, which is much longer reach than previous versionz. However, they made the lens slower, and took away the inbuilt ND filter and sony apps. Still a good price for this newly released pocket rocket thats awesome for both photos and video.

  • Wow, point and shoots are expensive these days hey. I bet its all that 4K video malarkey.

The RX100 range is not your average P&S.

Just like iphone x isn't an average mobile phone and deserve 1600 price point?

1.2k and still no input for mic/audio.

    • This thing is tiny, doesn't have room for everything.

Pfffft! a 4 year old A6000 is far more superior in every regard to this 1 month old RX100

Can you fit it in your pocket?

  • Could I claim the GST back when going overseas?

You can claim TRS but since it is over the $900 duty free limit technically if you travel on your own then you would have to pay it back when you reenter the country.

    • Yes, as long as you travel with someone when you're coming back to Australia you'll be fine.

Also, once you start using it instead of bringing it back in a box it's unlikely that you'll get taxed when you re-enter Australia too.

  • struggling to think of a use-case where this is worth buying over the mk III, IV or V or alternatively getting into an interchangeable lens system like the Sony a6xxx or Fuji's stuff.

If pocket-ability is critical the earlier RX100's are great for a lot less money - and for the budding photography enthusiasts one of the aforementioned cameras plus an old manual 50mm on an adapter is going to have far more legs for you - IMO.

Not keen on how every new model is more expensive and complex.

Really wish Nikon's DL wasn't killed off. The things I want in a compact are small size, good low light / wide lens performance but hey.

    • I think it is unlikely for the rx100 vi to be someone's first camera (if it is then they probably don't care about the cost anyway :p) so it is likely that they would already have a larger kit, or have owned a larger kit and decided to down size if it is to be their only camera. I also believe it is part of their strategy to not make it an iterative upgrade over the V to entice people to buy it as a complement rather than a replacement. There is a reason to own both a iii/iv/v AND the vi.

    • I've got the M3 which I'm fairly happy with - you can't set the numbers for say white balance though… only presets.

      • Just shoot raw and change in post…

    • Well compared to iv,v has phase detect auto focus which is very useful if you shoot video.

Compared to v, vi had a longer zoom range.

Obviously if you don't need both, then even iii or iv is good enough.

      • I'm not a sony fan, but the phase detect is the same focus system that dslr uses. Very fast and accurate. Also good for general photography.

Also, there aren't many compact digital cameras that have a view finder. If you shoot outdoors on bright days you really need one.

200mm is a bit frustrating. I have a compact digital (old) with this that I use with motorbike and mtb - it's kind of in between what I consider useful. I'm happy with just 24mm or 300mm; I rarely use 200mm on the compact.

  • Great price. I just bought a rx100 iv 2 weeks ago and I'm already tempted to buy this
