  • Review on office works site is bad.

Price on their site is $20

    • There are over 20 good reviews from ebay officeworks vs 3 bad reviews from its website.

  • Can it shred cardboard?

    • +4

I have one, no. It is a cheap shredder, it will shred paper up to about 5 layers thick.

It has a run time of 2 minutes and a rest time of 45 minutes

Wow. Imagine exercising for 2 minutes, then resting for 45 minutes haha

    • So you can only use it for 2 minutes, then need to wait 45 minutes???? WT!!!!

      • These cheap ones runs hot, then need to cool down. It's very annoying.

        • So there's a chance of a fire starting?

          @jv:
will increase security level though ;p

I have it and it works great, shreds my bills well. The 2min runtime has never presented itself and I’ve shredded a lot at one time. It will struggle a bit on junk mail like a woolies catalogue for example.

      • +3

Why do you need to shred a catalogue?

        • +3

          To make cat litter.

          His partner works for Coles.

        • @homersimpson: nailed it, other pets as well.

        • @homersimpson:

Wait are you telling me shredded paper = viable cat litter? This will save me a lot. I'm buying this shredder.

Seems about the same as most men

      • +1

The older you get the longer the recovery time you need

It's bound to fail very quickly. Shredders are one those things that are prone to failures and with these operating specs, this will die a quick death.

  • I've got a manual one I bought for $5 about 10 years ago and it's still going strong…

  • +2

I have one, good for shredding the old bills and stuff for privacy. I recommend. Max shred is about 5 sheets of paper thick. Heat up/ heat down hasn't proven to be an issue for me, I am not on a huge shredding binge.

  • i was thinking about converting an old electric lawnmower in to a cardboard shredder. what could possibly go wrong?

    • +6

Well, you could just put the paper on the lawn before mowing.

I have this shredder. It only ‘runs’ when there is paper within its feeder, so the ‘two minutes’ run time probably equates to about 120 shredded pages (5 pages per shred x 24 shreds (each shred takes about 5 seconds). It’s quite weak compared with much heavier duty and more expensive shredders; I find I have to actively hold the 5 sheets of paper vertically from above while it shreds from below, otherwise he paper tends to crumble up and not shred nicely. But overall, for an inexpensive home office shredder, it does its job well and I would recommend it, particularly for those who only shred things occasionally (e.g. weekly).

    • Yep. For $15 it shreds fine. I'm happy with mine too.

  • Got this from last deal. Ok for Light/occasional use.

  • I have this and it's okay for light use. It can't handle more than 5 sheets. Works fine for normal paper, but for colesworth like catalog paper, it doesn't shred them completely.

Remember to only shred what you need as shredded paper cannot be recycled in your home recycling bin.

Shredded paper should go in the green waste bin.

You can also donate it to some pet stores.

    • +1

Wow I had no idea about this.

      Thank you.

    • what the heck, I had no idea….

    • Why can’t shredded paper be put in the recycle bin?

      • It's too small to sort, becomes confetti, gets caught in the machines and makes a mess.

  • I purchased online for a Instore collection
    So not in store only

Does anyone know if this can be used to cut cheese into cheese strips?

  • Will this work with the laminator deal from the other day? There could be some NSFW material accumulated over this time…

  • This needs oiling every now and then. Does anyone know any cheap oil for this? The ones at Officeworks are more than $15.

    • Canola oil

    • Any engine oil should do..

  • +2

just want to point out the usual price for this has always been $15 …. if you go instore and lift up the price tag you can see it was $15 already.

a little while ago it was one special for 12.95 a while ago that when i went to but it and there were already alot of boxes with customer return sticker on them.

  • Or you could grab the one that's on clearance for $5.
