Superb deal, if only I could convince my landlord to install this. How much would installation be.

Also, do you get the corresponding outside unit? Sorry for a noob question.

    • +1

Yes you should get both. I got both from the good guys

    • would it just be directly through a wall? i.e. the outdoor unit and the air con itself back to back?

yes, you get the corresponding outside unit :)

    • Expect around the same price again for installation.
Find a cheap installer (licenced on Airtasker or a tradie app) you bay get as low as $$600 or so.

Ive got few 2.5kw systems installed back to back and have always paid around $450 for installation in Brisbane

        • Thats a little low? $500 is what I would call cheap.

Did you buy it yourself or through the installation guy?

        • 450 in Brisbane.
I have bought one myself and one through installer.

In Sydney average price is around $500-600 for back to back install. Yes you get both indoor and outdoor units.

        back to back

        Bareback?

In Sydney during winter (now) you should be able to get it installed for $300-400 per unit if you call around. Last year I got 4x 2.5kwh installed back to back for $1050, it took a team of two (gas fitter and his apprentice) the whole day.

      • That $300-400 per unit should be from the electrician where they take a decent profit from it?

        • +1

No electrician. Just a commercial gas fitter and his apprentice. They did my job for pocket money during the winter season, which he explained was his off peak season :). He charges the usual rate during summer.

$500. That is the price I paid yesterday (Tuesday 17th June) for the inside and outside air conditioning units.

Buy it, install it, remove when leave. Simple

    • -2

Yep, thats the way I do it.

Plenty of info on the web on how to do it diy.

      • +1

It’s also illegal to do it yourself if you aren’t licensed.

      • I'm not sure I'd DIY install/uninstall this unless you're an electrician and getting an electrician to uninstall it wouldn't be worth it.

      • You will screw up the unit and void any warranty if you DIY. To install you need special tools such as Flare tool, guages, vac pump etc which most DIYer's would not have.

      • This is a stupid thing to do, its very easy to screw up.

If you are really set on diy installation I would do the mounting and all the hard labour all yourself, then get a professional to do the other half of the job.

Excludes: Northern Territory, QLD Far North, Tasmania, WA Regional, WA Remote.

  • Nice find OP. Last months HN’s deal was 698 but this was really good as well.

  • where do you get the cashback?

  • 2.5 presumably for bedroom? Is 3.5kw enough for living + dining room?

    • All depends on the floor area. 2.5kw is for a small-regular sized bedroom. There are sizing guides which you can use to determine the size of aircon needed.

  • The price not included postage. It cost $140 for delivery.

  • Was even cheaper couple weeks ago in Goodguys eBay, $679.2 plus $150 cash back (849 with 20% off). Which means $529.2. and I missed it

  • How quiet is this one compared to others on the market?

    • Just got mine installed yesterday, indoor unit is quiet but can't say the same about the outdoor unit. It is fairly noisy. If you want a quieter unit invest in a Daikin.
