18V 19W, 50W and 100W Flexible Solar Panels All $9.99 + Free Shipping @ eBay Topfaithshop

540

I don't know if this is a mistake or not. These panels should usually be a lot more……even though they're 18V (not 12 or 24V).

I bought the same panels a year ago….. very flimsy. they won't last Moore than 3 months in Australian conditions.

    • Yep, I bought a couple of identical 50W versions of these a couple of years ago and they died after only a few months however I was using them on the underside of a windscreen inside a locked up car so I assume the extreme heat transferred to the aluminium backing and basically cooked them to death. My own stupid fault however I had a small standard 10W traditional glass framed panel in there beforehand and it lasted for many years and I'm still using it elsewhere even today so after the flexible panels failed I replaced them with another standard glass panel and it too has been chugging along fine ever since. So yeah, these may be OK for general use but I'd say they're a little less tolerant of heat than the traditional glass framed panels therefore may also have a far shorter life than the standard type even when mounted somewhere with air flow etc.

  • July is title improvement month.

    • In future, please mention the store/retailer in the title.

That's been fixed. Moderators and power users spend time fixing titles throughout the day and any help is appreciated. Thanks for posting!

  • THANKS.

I just grabbed a couple of drones, RC cars and a photo softbox setup all at $10 each. I just searched for everything under $10 and grabbed whatever I could with the highest discount!

    • Are you planning to open up your own shop selling junk Chinese-made gadgets?

      • Closer to the truth than you'd think haha! … No thanks to OzB for all the crap in my shed…

  • Looking at the sort of shop they are and the feedback, wonder if anyone will actually receive their item :P

  • Look like a few more of those 19W are available (10 left)

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/19W-18V-Flexible-Solar-Panel-Pow…

    • Just bought one. Thank you.

  • +3

There's a whole bunch of stuff that's just too cheap, especially since it includes postage.
There's also an automated wildlife camera for $9.99 from the same seller.

I actually reckon it might be a scam, but ordered one of the cameras anyway.

  • +3

Just for clarity. You never want a 12v panel. A regulator (required) will bring 18v or 19v panels down to the 12v area. This is normal.

    Also not seen this before:
    Lifespan: Over 5 years.

    • Nice, hope it's real!

    • Drone has been upped to $54.99 this morning. Not looking good…

  • +1

I guess they are hoping some won't chase up the refund when the goods don't arrive. It might be a fair bit of work for those who have bought a lot of items to make sure you get refunded by Paypal?

  • Keep in mind that these are shipped from Hong Kong as it says on sellers page. The selfie drone is a steal for $9.99 though, the official company sell them on aliexpress for $55.60 each!

  • -2

If by some chance they they double up on their price error and actually ship them as well, and someone finds themselves with some panel(s) without an actual use, feel free to PM me if you want to sell them.

    • I bet those people will want to sell them to you for $100 each.

      • -1

Don't doubt their would be some, no point buying them of off someone for a similar price to what I could get them off eBay for though, with the protections that offers. Would be happy to pay a small premium but think its all pretty academic anyway. Can't see anyone actually getting them.

    I call BS.
    BS BS BS BS.

Ordered wildlife cameras. 1pc 9.99 or 2 for $174. Most likely the items will be cancelled. I've ordered pricing errors from ebay and when they are cancelled the listing still shows as x amount being sold… Gives the impression that there is high demand for the items if they bring back up the price.

  • Yep got me both wildlife cameras lets see…

  • Serious question. How are these 12V/18V solar panels used? Do I just connect them directly to a car battery via alligator clips, and the battery will get charged? Any risk of overcharging?

    • You can connect them direct and manually keep an eye on battery voltage then disconnect when full however you really should add a regulator as that will do all the work for you allowing you to keep the panel connected 24/7 all year 'round. You can pickup basic regulators direct form China for as little as a few dollars or the same thing locally for $10-$15. There are many more to choose from depending what you want/need too but yeah a cheapie wont cost you much. I've had a few like the one Error links to above and they're perfectly fine.

    • +2

One of the pictures from that seller shows you how to set up solar charging: https://pdmimg.ovonni.com/uploads/pdm-product-pic/Ebay/2017/…

      • where do i get the battery? car battery?

        • +1

Look on eBay. While car batteries can work they're not made for deep discharges and have liquid in them that can leak. Look for a deep cycle gel or AGM bettery

    • Depends what size panel you got and what battery etc etc. For me, I have a fairly large car battery that goes flat all the time because the car alarm is always drawing power. It is interstate from me so its flat each time I get to it every few weeks. 18V 1A on a 550CCA battery, for the few hours a day it will have enough sun to charge should be a perfect float/trickle charge. If I cared enough I would spend the extra $10 for a charge controller but nahhh.

      • Also possible that a sensor is dislodged/faulty so leaving a circuit in an open/active condition, cars often draw up to 30mA which means most batteries last 2-4 weeks but anything more means some electronics is awake/active.

Easy to check wit a multi-meter if you haven't already, but bare in mind modern cars often draw higher currents by design eg up to 20 mins after a door was last closed. Can make testing harder or at least require a little innovation.

OTOH, old batteries obviously don't hold the charge anyhow, usually they become noticeably worse (or fail) in cold snaps and especially during winter

240v 2kW, Inverter 85% off, $29.95. If it's legit, you'll need it to run a power tool off a car battery.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2000W-4000W-Pure-Sine-Wave-Power…

10+ avail at time of posting.

    • that's so tempting, but is it going to be like playing Russian roulette with 240v?

      • more or less. not sure if high voltage is properly isolated until you take it apart of analyse how its designed.

    • From experience a 1200W cheapy inverter from ebay/aliex should be used at max 400 or 500W. I've bought 5 all died fast, 1 caught fire and no refund (thanks tomtop).

You don't have a chance at their rating. 100+ amps draw through maybe 5Amp wires inside.

  • I grabbed a 100watter too - now the big question: will they ship?

    • +1

      Nope. Just got the email…

      • +1

        yep, me too Oh well
        Gotta be init to winnit

  • Looks like topfaithshop have bumped the price……a lot https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/18V-50W-Flexible-Solar-Panel-Cha…

If topfaithshop refuses to send, I'll just get a refund and get https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/100W-12V-Mono-Solar-Panel-Carava…

    • May just be a placeholder to stop people from buying more

  • Bought a laptop on Ebay recently, site was hacked, prices changed. Refund.
    Now this.

Going to avoid Ebay until this widespread(?) hacking is remedied.

Hope Paypal doesn't get done as well.

  • Yeah, contacted and apparently they got hacked. All my items will be refunded apparently.

  • The major question is WHEN we will receive a refund?

    • I was refunded a couple of hours after i replied to their eBay message.

  • I just got a full refund into my Paypal account. It was worth a try and at least they refunded quickly I guess….
I hope everyone else gets refunded quickly as well.

Now to try finding another bargain solar panel….that actually gets sent.

  • For those who can't work out how to leave feedback for a cancelled transaction, follow this link:
    http://my.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBay&CurrentPage=My…

You'll need to wait 7 days to provide negative feedback.
Also get in touch with eBay via web chat here:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers…

Explain the policy violation with topfaithshop and globalshoppingnow and how they would not honour your sale after you already made payment. eBay assured me they are going to penalise the seller and escalate the policy violation.

    • +4

I am NOT leaving negative feedback.

1/ its not their fault they got hacked
2/ The refund letter could not have been nicer or more apologetic/
