like the other Topfaithshop deals not sure if this is a pricing error…I ordered 2. Been looking for a watch winder but at this price it seems crazily cheap enough to be missed.

will this charge the apple watch?

    • +1

don't think it comes with usb / lightning port bro…try next one lol

  • is Topfaithshop the same as globalshoppingnow ?

  • thanx OP, grabbed one.

anyone used it before? care to comment on the quality and effiency on winding the swiss movements? thanx

  • +1

    "Handcrafted"…yeah right…

  • +2

Thanks OP, my last search last night was for watch winders!!!

I fully expect the order to be cancelled but let's see…….

    • +1

      Keep us informed.

      • Order cancelled and email received. Chinglish email said something about being hacked and willing to refund but wanted a response.

        • It was worth trying. For that price I was interested in it just as a box for storing quartz watches.

  • -1

I just delivery of the 2+0 version for AU$100 from Kogan (under the name Kawatchwina).

Very heavy. Doesn't look cheap. Very quiet motor.

  • +2

still available, just do a search on the store https://www.ebay.com.au/str/Topfaithshop-Inc

how much are these normally? i don't have any manual watches but looks like a nice box to store normal watches :)

edit: in case anyone else is wondering what a watch winder does and how much they normally cost, this has some examples:
    https://au.askmen.com/style/watches/best-watch-winders.html

    • If I remember correctly, the 2+0 ones were around $50 and the 4+0 ones around $70. Edit: The main url says it was $100

  • Looks like the seller's account have been hacked, a lot of the items are on a huge sale for some reason. Either way, got 2 :)

    • The pushbikes and scooters for $9.99 free delivery do seem suspiciously cheap.

    • +6

It looks more like they are using 3rd party software and someone put 9.99 in the wrong area - item price instead of postage and did a mass update .

  • +1

the repercussion of the seller getting hacked will be lots of negative feedback. so im wondering if they'll fulfill some orders to negate it.

    • Probably not - ebay will likely intervene.

    • won't the hackers also obtain all the buyers details?

      • Paypal

        • what's that supposed to mean? they get your name, address, phone number, email

        • @mtg: It's the other details that would concern me.

        • +3

          @ilikeit:
          Click and collect from Woolies…

        • +1

          @singlefished: That's exactly what I did.

  • I see what's happening here, this ebay store is probably owned by the "nerds". They first create the market, then start selling all these must have accessories :)

  • My brother bought a wind up watch to save battery costs. But buying a winder and keeping it powered I think costs more than the battery, and is an inconvenience that you have to put up with. The winder cost him $75-80.

    • It's not so much for the cost savings. Automatic watches are more sophisticated then a battery one.

      • +2

That may be true but it wasn't the reason he bought one. He told me he didn't want to replace the battery every few years. He's not a watch connoiseur so I doubt he even understands the difference in sophistication. He never wears it except on special occasions like weddings. He complained that he had to wind it every time he used it. So he got a $80 winder.

        I think he's stupid.

        • +1

FYI, auto watch movements need to be operated regularly to maintain the lubricating oils (similar to car). Some movements such as certain Chinese movements and even the venerable ETA 2824, suffer wear and tear when wound regularly in comparison to a Miyota 9015 or Seiko NH35. Your brother could wind it once a week perhaps. Keeping it in the winder 24-7 will eventually wear out the movement, leading to replacement or a service.

        • @ilikeit: Yeah, the maintenance I think is more trouble than it's worth.

It sucks to pay a watch repairer for his labor but that's the least hassle if you're not a watch lover.

If you only wear it to weddings, you bought it for the bling, not to tell the time. It's a lot of trouble to maintain for something only used occasionally. Better off buying a battery watch.

        • LOL in that case, i concur with your statement :)

        • @lostn: Exactly.

    • +1

this one if legit is $9.99 perfect for my invictas lol

  • Other eBay links have these around the $30-35 mark so who knows - might be honoured?

  • My watch is manual wind

    • +4

      Thanks for letting us know.

      • -2

        You're welcome

        • It sounds cool, what model is it?

        • They're manually winding you up mate..

        • @WatchNerd:
          Grande GMT

    • +2

I wind up my wife all the time, does that count?

    • I have a box of old soviet wind ups….

  • +1

Wouldnt having an automatic watch running 24/7 result in it wearing out quicker/needs to serviced more often. As opposed to just quickly setting the time when you do wear it

    • I've wondered about this myself. I guess keeping it running keeps the moving parts lubricated, which might reduce oxidation… but that just a guess and you think would be negligible compared to the wear on components. Any watch guru's?

      • +1

Wouldn't having an automatic watch running 24/7 result in it wearing out quicker/needs to serviced more often.

It's sounds like a logical comment which this youtube video backs up.

        • In regards to keeping my automatic watch "lubed", i have a rotation so they get worn at least once a month each. Hopefully this is enough movement to keep them working well. A colleauge has a rolex which he has daily worn for at least 15 years now, never serviced and it still works fine. I think some of these servicing guideline recomendations are inflated to benefit the manufacturer.

        • +2

@DiscoJango: I've worn my Rolex every day for 23 years (only taking it off in the shower or when swimming) and it's never missed a beat. It was last serviced 20 years ago.

        • +1

@monsignor: crap i thought you were my colleauge for a second! your story is spot on to his, but he actually left it on while swimming at the beach. and he has a sort of outdoors role, so its not just cushy air conditioned office environment the rolex is in either. goes to show how well made some of these watches are

reminds me of a youtube video where they completely drained the oil out of an old merc and just drove it until the engine died. it actually went of several hours. my point being that things dont need to be serviced exactly as quoted by the manufactures guidelines. this is an extreme example however.

  • If anyone in Melb happens to buy one and not really want it then I'll happily meet and give you your $10 for it.

  • Now that I know these are a thing I'm definitely looking at one. Need to contact how many automatics I have

  • +1
    • Tks buddy, missed out last night and just ordered one.

    • Now at $103.99!

  • missed that

  • I sent few questions to the seller no response. Suppose the seller account has been hacked or the seller is fraudulent.

    • +2

Or just very busy packing up sales…

  • +1

They are not packing anything. I already contacted ebay.

    • Did eBay confirm whether the seller will honour or refund orders? Cheers

      • +1

If eBay sticks with their privacy policy, they probably won't be able to comment on nature of the situation, other than to say a refund is coming.

  • +4

Email just arrived…. They were hacked and are looking to refund us… gutted but not unexpected :(

Now, back to researching watch winders…. any suggestions?

    • Amazon? lol

Me too back to searching for one lol

    • +2

Now, back to researching watch winders…. any suggestions?

      Yes. Do not buy one.

      • +3

I am serious. Automatic watches are not perpetual motion machines. A high quality automatic adequately maintained may outlive the owner and become a family heirloom. They are meant to stop when the power reserve is depleted. A little motion restarts it before resetting the time. Enjoying that ritual is intrinsic to mechanical watches. Avoiding it with a winder hastens the next service by superfluously moving parts dependent on a barely visible quantity of oil.

        • This is what I've always thought. However a lot of people say automatics are like cars in that they run better with regular use. Not sure which is true anymore.

        • +2

@merc: You wouldn't leave your car running constantly while you're away from it.

        • +2

I leave my car running non-stop all day every day 24/7. It's expensive but you gotta keep it lubed.

        • +2

@merc: it's more if you have a few watches, alternate between days, and don't want to have to set time and calendar, you wouldn't have it being wound for a month, easier just to set the right time, a shake or two and you are ready to go.

    • From Topfaithshop eBay? I did not receive anything. No refund or shipping info.

      • i have received 3 cancellation,but 1 order has been sent,3 item in 1 order.

Myabe if you order only have 1 item will be cancel,if you order is more that 1 item will fullfill.

        • I only ordered 1 on Sunday, no cancelation email or sent notification yet.

Maybe they only honor one order if you order multiple.

        • @fatice: Oh well, email came in refund or ….

  • +1

I have received an email from seller saying their account got hacked.

They will not honor the deal, but provide full refund plus giving me gold VIP member (don't really bother me).

Should I ask them to fulfill the order??

    • +1

No one will be interested in a free gold VIP membership. Going through this drama, the membership will be forced through our throat. Is this a new marketing strategy?

  • Looking for a watch winder now, someone please link us to a decent deal!!

  • Will they full refund plus the foreign fee? I paid through paypal linked to my visa credit card.

  • +5

Topfaithshop may honor this deal. They've shipped my Christmas egg drones. Hopefully they fulfill my other items.

Global shopping probably won't. They've sent me the fake 'hacked' email. Someone stuffed up using their listing tool. They didn't get hacked. If they got hacked all their items would be $1.

Be sure to leave negative feedback if they stuff you around

    • Someone misplaced the decimal point and listed them at $9.99 instead of $99.99, and they're covering the error by re-listing them at $103.99 instead of $99.99.

    • Topfaithshop refunded me today. They said they were hacked. Money is back on my card. Still, very disappointed.

  • +1

For those who can't work out how to leave feedback for a cancelled transaction, follow this link:
    http://my.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBay&CurrentPage=My…

You'll need to wait 7 days to provide negative feedback.
Also get in touch with eBay via web chat here:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers…

Explain the policy violation with topfaithshop and globalshoppingnow and how they would not honour your sale after you already made payment. eBay assured me they are going to penalise the seller and escalate the policy violation.

Feel like those needing a watch winder would be better off just going digital or quartz.

If you own multiple watches (collectability aside) and change it up, then you're likely going for fashion and style. If the watch looks good, then go with the easier to maintain options.

  • Hmm, so check the ebay listing, item hasn't been sent , should have arrived today, and listing is updated for $103 for the winder …..
Somehow i have a feeling thye won't ship and are hoping to just refund … how do I leave negative feedback if they just refund … it's s feature I think disappears after a refund ?

  • well got a response, seems lame, we got hacked, cant get stock …quote "I will be unhappy,if I have paid for the order but I can not get it", well you can get it but I can also appreciate youd be unhappy to supply at $9.99.
they can get stock as they now list for $103, got hacked, doubt a hacker gets in and prices things as $9.99, more like someone stuffed up

"Thanks for your order with us.
We have sent an email to inform you that we are not able to send the item to you, you may not receive the email.

so sorry our system system was attacked by hacker yesterday, that our price and inventory were in mess.

    I totally understand your feeling.
I will be unhappy,if I have paid for the order but I can not get it.
