1000 Woolworths Rewards Bonus Points (Worth $5) on $50 Ultimate Teens, Uber, Hoyts Gift Cards @ Woolworths

720

Bought a couple of Uber $50 Gift Cards from Woolworths recently and was surprised to see that the receipt showed "Points earned this shop: 2000"!
So upon further investigation, I found that the catalogue had this deal in it. Needless to say, I went in again and picked up 2 more. Why not?

Purchase a $50 Ultimate Teens, Uber, HOYTS or Netflix Gift Card and earn 1000 Woolworths Rewards Bonus Points.

2000 points is equivalent to $10, as it takes $10 off a future shop at Woolworths.

Where/How to use these Gift Cards

FAQs

  1. Can you pay for a gift card with a WISH eGift Card?
Yes you can. The system allows it. Whether or not the staff member allows it is a different story. PS: The WISH Gift Card Terms and Conditions (Clause 6.5 state that WISH Gift Cards cannot be used towards the purchase of any gift cards sold through a Participating Store, so YMMV.
  2. Can you buy a gift card at self-serve machines?
Yes you can, if your store doesn't have a banner on each machine saying "Gift Cards cannot be purchased at self serve machines".
  3. Can you buy multiple gift cards and redeem multiple lots of 1000 points?
Yes you can. You can even get multiple cards in one transaction and you'll get all the bonus points added to your Woolworths Rewards account. Note that there is a limit of 10 bonuses per account.
  4. So, what is the effective cost of each of these Gift Cards?
Assuming you buy one of these $50 Gift Cards and pay with a WISH eGift Card that you obtained at 5% off, the equations of discount work out to be:
  • $50 as shown on the transaction
  • Paying this $50 has an effective cost of $47.50 (5% less)
  • You earn 1000 WWR points, which is effectively $5
  • Therefore, your $50 Gift Card has a net cost of $42.50.
  • This is a discount of 15%!

Enjoy, and please report on your successes in buying these Gift Cards.

I thought about putting Woolworth rewards 30 points when you bring your own bags in SA.
That's a MASSIVE 1.5c worth of points. LOL

    • 30 points = 1.5 cents?

    • +3

      30 points is 15c

  • so you can buy multiple cards and get multiple 2000pts? (in on transaction, or different ones?)

Uber's is a great deal cheers

    • Yes, I bought 2 x $50 Uber cards and got 2000 points, then went in again and bought another 2, it took $10 off (from the previous 2000 points), and gave another 2000 points.
      Rinse and repeat!

Think there's a limit of 10 per account so you could buy 10 cards and get 10 000 points

        You're spot-on kerfuffle. OP updated.

      ?

  • Loving the post mathnerd but I have tried to use points in my rewards to buy ultimate teens before while back and did not allow me either self checkout or manned.
Manned checkout said cant use my points on it,yet I see it over and over it works with others?
I'm sure might be wrong here tried even wish cards and it never worked also.

I've never bought an Ultimate Teens GC before so don't have any anecdotal evidence on being able to use points to reduce the payment, unfortunately. Sorry!

even wish cards and it never worked also

      Could you elaborate, please?

      • I tried im sure to buy ultimate gift cards before with wish egift cards and never worked.
But i also tried to a few times before to use my points earned on buying the ultimate teens for less never worked.

I once had 2000 points so hoped to get teen card for $40 and gain my 1000 pts.
Yes its good to have these rewards points for your general shop but have struggled to take advantage of them for buying or reducing cost of gift card.
I used to buy before few years back other guft cards with wish egift but i believe they rigged machines not to allow?
But it seems to still work for many but not had much luck myself.

      • Sorry not sure what you mean you say you not purchased teen cards before so not sure about using points towards next purchase.

        Then you say this:

Yes, that is right. Each $50 card will add 1000 WWR points to your WWR account. Then, when you have 2000+ points in your WWR account, your next transaction will automatically reduce by $10 (assuming your WWR settings have it set to Auto-Redeem rather than Bank for Christmas or convert to QFF).

When you get 2000 pts this tranfers into $10 on next spend which i asume will take this off next card you buy $40.
But as said its always refused and was told cant use everyday rewards points/$10 with buying a gift card.

  • So say I buy one teen card $50 and I use my wish egift card already purchased to buy,I gain 1000 points, I then happen to have 2000 points in my rewards I go back and my next card will cost me $40? And I gain another 1000 points right?
And I can keep going if I wish or of above I gained 5% from my wish card and saved $10 on my next with using 2000 points I now had. Then I have 1000 remaining hope that makes sense.
But I have never had much luck with these to be honest unless my woolies machines are rigged to not allow.

Yes, that's right, you can rinse and repeat (up to 10 gift cards).

  • Someone said this regarding these 1000 points in another post?

If you look at the T&Cs I think you only get one points bonus per Everyday Rewards account for each promotional period. (Well, it was for previous promotions, couldn't see in the catalogue beginning 8th August).

    • I can confirm from personal experience that you can get multiple lots of the 1000 points:

A conversation with woolworths rewards team on August 10th, reveals each member can buy up to 10 giftcards. Thus 10,000 points.

    You are connected to Jubair.
Jubair: Hi, Welcome to Woolworths Rewards! You are talking to Jubair, how may I help you today?
Hi I am looking at this week's catalogue (August 8th) page 32 on giftcards
You : It says $50 giftcard Ultimate Teens, uber, Netflix etc… earn 1000 Bonus Points
Jubair: Thank you. Let me have a look in to that please.
Jubair: Hi, you will earn 1000 points for every $50 gift card.
Jubair: Is there any other query I can assist you please today?
You: btw does it mean there is NO LIMIT on earning the bonus points…from the giftcard
You: I could like buy a year worth of Giftcards and it will still give me 1000 bonus points for each $50 purchased
You: like 10 Ultimate Teens giftcards = 10,000 Bonus points
Jubair: Let me find that for you please.
Jubair: I can confirm the maximum amount of gift card that you should be able to purchase is 10.
    You: Ok. thank you.
    You: 10 gift cards = 10,000 points
You : Is there a Reference Number I can make to this chat for future reference. just incase, Woolworth rewards do not reflect 10,000 points…
Jubair: You can save this chat. If you can provide me your Rewards card, I can leave a note in your account.

Hoyts and Teens have $30 denomination if your store has them. You earn 600 points per card.

Some cards on sale this week have $100 denomination. So the maximum points earned varies.

So my question is here can i use my 2000pts/$10 everyday rewards to buy a teens card which will cost me $40 in total or does this only work on certain gift cards?
Has anyone experience using the $10 towards cost of this card as it never worked for me before?
Im aware you can buy gift cards with e gift cards i used to myself but im sure no luck there before.

Or is it using egift card to buy gift cards and using everyday rewards $10 off work only on certain gift cards?

  • Hi just wondering, Can you use the teens gift card on jb hi fi online website?

  • Just got $500 in uber/netflix cards. Good post!

    • Cheers, enjoy!

^Eligible purchases are all purchases except smoking products, gift cards, mobile recharge, Woolworths Mobile, travel cards, tickets, donations, delivery charges, Carpet Care, woolworthsflowers.com.au, Auto-order products or on a charge account.

So by what it says there i can't use my 1000pts/$10 towards my teens card to get it for $40

  • Just bought a “variable” $20 - 500 Uber gift card which I put $100 on. Paid with Wish eGift Card. Didn’t get the bonus points even though offer was promoted instore etc. It states offer is valid with any denomination. Chasing up with the rewards help desk at the moment.

    • Hmm, the system must not have been setup with the SKU/Barcode of the Variable load card, hence this problem. Makes sense, it's a bit hard to assign points when there's so many options on a variable load card.
I hope they sort it out, post back here when you've found out the answer :)

      • Yeah was probably my bad, there was no $50 or $100 cards. Will keep you updated. Have to call them back tomorrow

        • I think they only come in $25, $50 and the variable $20-$500 denominations. Good luck tomorrow!

  • Mine didn't give me any rewards. Weighing up whether to lose 30 minutes of my life on the phone tomorrow (guesstimate) to redeem the 4000 points they owe me…
    FWIW I used e-gift cards
    Thankfully I kept the receipts

Well after a total of 35 mins on the phone I managed to get the 2000 bonus points. I think it may have been because I didn’t purchase the $50 dollar cards and purchased the variable Uber card and put $100 on it. They said they were doing as a goodwill gesture!

    • Glad to hear!

      • +1

        Thanks mate

        • Very glad to hear it worked out. Glad they came through in the end!
