How long does the gold status last when it’s activated?

    • +4

      March 31, 2020

      • I am struggling to find the gold status expiry date. Could you please point out where does it state on the web? Thanks a lot.

You get Hilton elite status from the moment you earn it, and then:

          for the rest of the calendar year in which you earned it;
          for all of the subsequent calendar year;
until 31 March of the year subsequent to that full calendar year.

        • @Tcava: nice and thanks for the post. I was wondering why my past Hilton status levels seemed to change on the March timeframe.

I also have Velocity Gold and was planning to activate the free Hilton Gold offer with it. I am going to hope that this means I have it until March 2020.

I’ll also be applying for the Hilton status match against my IHG platinum in the hope that it will upgrade my Hilton gold to Diamond.

Pity my next Hilton stays are November and then December or I would have activated the match now but I have that 90 day thing to worry about.

if you've booked a place for 7 nights, could you get 3 nights under gold status?

    • not normally, you will be lowest status for the duration, as the status under your account is that for the stay

everything is negotiable though, just gotta ask the hotel

  • I've got a trip booked for work at the end of this month, incidentally for 4 nights. Will I still get gold if I don't pay for the trip on my registered credit card?

    • dont need to use the registered cc (or even put a visa signature in your reservation), you will still get fast track nights

      • +1

        Awesome! Thanks!

        Will it stack with this?

        https://www.hiltonhonors.com/en_US/HHCM/20170829-hh17-5000-p…

        • Yes. Those sort of bonus points deal will be stackable.

        • Yep you can stack as many promos as you want.

      • One more question - I don't think we booked through the Hilton but through the work travel agency… Do you know if this will still go through?

        • It can be a bit hit and miss. I never got my 10 nights of stays credit for my luxury escapes sourced booking at the Conrad HK even though I provided my membership details (I was Diamond at the time) but they did acknowledge my status and gave me executives club access etc.

        • Not according to the sign-up page. "Offer is valid only by booking direct with Hilton and not valid by booking through other channels such as travel agencies and online aggregators such as Expedia, Hotels.com, Agoda.com, etc."

I have added it to the description.

        • No, third party doesn't get night and stay credit or elite benefits.

You can sometimes luck out with benefits by adding your membership number or asking but stay / night credit is something that is only given to direct bookings.

          @takutox: I got gold!

      • I have booked 6 nights coming up trip and paid via mastercard. Can I still use this?

        • Yes

  • Macquarie Hilton credit card give you Gold status as long as you hold the card.

    • +4

Thought that card is no longer open to new applications? Otherwise you might even be accidentally bumped to diamond without spending 40k in a year.

      • +2

Yep, no longer open to applications.

  • What does Gold status do?

  • Debit card won't work?

  • +2

The promotional period according to the T&Cs is 15 Aug 2018 to 31 Dec 2018:
    https://www.visa-promotions.com/mepa/HiltonHHonors/Hilton_Tn…

Is it possible to register before 31 Dec 2018, but complete the challenge in Jan 2019? Would that give gold status through until March 2021 instead of 2020?

    • +1

Yes that should work, if you complete the challenge in Jan, Feb, Mar 2019 by signing up to the promotional in Nov, Dec 2018 the status should be valid until March 31, 2021

  • Hmm, bit confused about the T & Cs regarding 2 qualifying stays method. E.g will it work if I say book one night in Gold Coast and a then 2 nights in Cairns? Or Does it have to be 2 separate stays in the same hotel totalling 4 nights?

    From the T & Cs : A "Qualifying
Stay" is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest
checks out and checks back in again

    • +1

Different hotels would be the normal behaviour, I'd think!

T&Cs like these are usually intended to stop people from splitting a 2-night stay into 2x back-to-back 1-night stays to try count them as 2 separate stays.

  • so do i need to complete the stays 90 days from registering a credit card? im not going to need it until dec/jan end of the year and it will be 4 nights in one stay

    • 90 days from activating the promotion.

  • can a STAY just be one night? if a book Monday and Friday in the same week, do I meet these 2 stays?

  • how long does gold status last?

    • Status Valid until: March 31, 2020

  • Doesn't work with my Citi Infinite card. Sigh. Shouldn't be too surprised there I guess. I'm going to be losing my Accor Gold status soon and thought I might shift over to using Hilton instead but nope. Shame the Macquarie Hilton card is no longer available…… if I lived in the US I could get the Amex Ascend card for US$95 pa and get gold. Instead it's $1495 for the Amex Platinum Charge card. Sigh.

…and that was weird. It worked with my wife's (supplementary) card.

  • So you the fast track is connected to your hilton member? I have a trip planned for Dec for 3 nights, which mean I have to stay another night later next year to complete 2 stays. So the expiry date will be 31/3/2021 for me?

Does staying at Hilton Garden Inn (Singapore) counts?
