Runkeeper Pro. FREE for a Limited Time. IT'S BACK

Remember This Deal? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/37116

RunKeeper uses the GPS technology found in the iPhone to track your fitness activity, giving you comparable results to an expensive GPS watch. Now, you can also enter your activities manually, including your treadmill runs too!

The intuitive and easy-to-use interface of the app makes it easy to track how far you went, how long it took, what your pace/speed was, how many calories you burned, and the path you traveled on a map.

Once your activity is completed, the data is synced to the RunKeeper website (www.runkeeper.com) where you can view a history of all of your activities, and cumulative totals of all of your vital stats. You can also share your progress with friends by posting your activities to Facebook and Twitter, and creating a profile page that allows people to view all of your public activities.

You can get insight in your ear while you are doing your activities on whether you are ahead/behind your target pace, or get coached through an interval workout.

You can also get in-app heart rate data during your activity (separate hardware required). Get more info at http://runkeeper.com/heart-rate-monitoring.

Features:

  • Activity Tracking
No need for an expensive, standalone fitness tracking device when you can use your iPhone 3G or 3GS to do the same thing. Now you can track how far you went, how long it took you, and the route you traveled right from your iPhone

  • Personal Dashboard
Store all historical activities on runkeeper.com, where you can keep track of totals and monitor your progress

  • Maps integration
See the exact path you traveled on a map, both on the device and on our website

  • Activity Sharing
Share your activities with friends via email, or by posting them to your favorite social sites, including Facebook and Twitter

  • Music
You can listen to the iPod during your activity, and even change tracks without leaving the RunKeeper application

  • iPod Integration
Choose one of your iPod playlists to start automatically the moment you begin your activity

  • Audio Cues
Get time or distance-based updates through your headphones during your activity

  • Interval Workouts
Create a workout built from intervals of time and/or distance, and let the audio cues coach you every step of the way

  • Target Pace
Enter a target pace at the start of your activity and get coached on whether you are ahead/behind that pace through your headphones

  • Geo-tagged Photos
Take photos without having to stop your activity. Photos are geo-tagged so when you view them on RunKeeper.com, they appear on the map right where you took them

  • Splits
You can see your split times in the app as you do your activities

  • Manual Activity Input
You can enter activities manually, including runs done on a treadmill or without your iPhone

    Getting it, sweet thanks.

  • Damn good app. Would recommend it!

  • Got it last time, still haven't made use of it facepalm

actually - the company decided to keep it free after the end of jan - so really its an extension of the previous deal. Something about wanting people to get fit and feel good about themselves. There is still an option to pay for the "elite" stuff on the website - but this is an awesome deal. It's a great app and since they updated the website - its flawlessly integrated. From me its a no brainer

  • I've been using it for cycling. It's a great app.

      That is what I thought!

        So very friendly. :)

There's a difference between software that is always free (forum material) and software that you usually have to pay for, that has been temporarily made free:

There are so many useful free software programs and websites out there that if we listed every great one, then we would be inundated with deals. Feel free to discuss any of these in one of our forums. Alternatively, add the freeware to its dedicated free software wiki page – Useful Free Software.

Examples of what you shouldn't post:

        *
Software: Mozilla Firefox (Free Browser, Always Free)
        *
Websites: Google (Free Search Engine, Always Free)

Examples of what you should post:

        *
Software: DVB Web Scheduler Pro is now free (Normally you have to pay for it, now free)
        *
Websites: Used Car Ads Free on Carbuddy.com.au (Free for now but later on not free)

Can't you read? It is always free now, has been for weeks, and will be forever. So this not only breaks the very rule you just sprouted off, it's old news. But the moderation on this site makes zero sense and the mods frequently ignore the rules their meant to make us follow.

Begging your pardon, but if you look at the information that has been given:

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/37116
Runkeeper Pro was made free until the end of January. Before then it was an app that costed $9.99 thus the link above was valid. Ok.

Since then they decided to make it free (I personally don't know whether it's permanent or not, but I believe even if it has now been made permanent it's within rules to post it once)

And according to the guidelines for this area:

Examples of what you should post:
Software: DVB Web Scheduler Pro is now free (Normally you have to pay for it, now free)

Looking at that example, a post indicating that a previously paid product is now free is fine.

It was within the rules the FIRST time it was posted but since then nothing has changed, the original deal has been extended (forever). At the very least it's a dupe. But I'm over it, if you people want to get your knickers in a knot over news that was published all over the net nearly a month a go…go for I guess. This place really is going down hill the more clueless people find it. Off to enjoy my weekend.

        • +4

Plenty of other deals that were extended have been posted as separate deals and I think that's usually fine to do, but each to his own and enjoy your weekend :)

  • Got it the last time and never used it.

same… who wants to go running carrying your iphone anyway..

      Never heard of an armband?

      • armband = tosser

Carrying an iphone makes you run faster… so the muggers can't catch up to you ;-)

i got this app back on the 1st of jan. this year was going to be my 'healthy year'.

ran for the first time with it, hit 2km in 10 mins and almost died.
    a month later, i ran a 8km in 40 mins.
    i've lost 6kg since 1/1/11

i love this app.. the website is fantastic. has a whole bunch of graphs and useless data that seems to be motivating me to do more. i've talked a few people into trying it and now we can all see each others progress creating a bit more motivation. i listen to music while i'm running, runkeeper tracks my run and lets me know each km how long that km took and how long i've been running total.

    if i didn't have this app - i wouldn't be running.

as for the bargain.. they announced on 26/1/11 that it would keep being free:

I also got this app back in early January. I was already planning on starting running, but this app inspired me to much more. I love being able to track my distances and current pace when running. I have purchased a armband for my iPhone so there is no problems running with it anymore.

I think this is must have app for everyone.

    • +1

if you didn't have an arm-band, how would you run with it? I had a similar app but it wasn't able to count my steps or kilometers.

      • I run with it in my pocket, I don't wanna run it on an armband in case it gets stolen lol.

        • i find it jiggle around too much to be comfortable? =S

  • How does this compare to Endomondo?

Not sure I would carry an iphone while running but putting it in the saddle bag is great for cycling.

  • Every time this gets posted I read it as Runekeeper, thinking it's an iOS release of the old game! :o

  • I've taken it on vacation with me - I always knew I walked a fair bit on hols but didn't realize it was up to 15 km/day!!!

    • I should also mention that if you do take your phone overseas and don't want to pay roaming charges, you can just take out the sim card and leave that at home. The GPS will still work though the positioning gets a bit loose in urban canyons within European cities. Obviously that's due to GPS properties not the app but I mention it since I've not found the same loose positioning in Aussie cities.

I agree with posters that this app inspires me to run. I highly recommend this app for people who would like to track their running/walking activities.
