        So you down voted the deal? What the

        • +4

          All the deals we have been having so far(even without Ebay Plus) were minimum 30$ spend. Now Ebay has creeped up the minimum spent to $50. But you still feel it should be upvoted……….

          @Bippz01: Strong sense of entitlement, hey?

        • +1

          @dm01: Millennial ….

      • +5

        To be fair, we got about 5 or so 15% off deals and an 18% off last year, all with big max discounts. Usually their discounts are only maxed at most $160 AUD.

        Just because other countries are getting better discounts then us this year doesn't really warrant a neg, we had the same treatment last year and they didn't have much.

        • -1

          The minimum spent has gone up post membership……

        • +3

          @Bippz01:

          What do you mean? The only deals this year with a min spend below $50 in Aus were for the 5% off codes? The lowest min spend I've seen for bigger % codes was $50, except for the certain categories 10% off last year.

        • +3

          @doweyy:
          Really. Try the current 20% PHASER deal. No minimum spent.

          And we are paying for membership this year and still a minimum spent of $50.

        • +3

          @Bippz01:

          I meant for deals that aren't limited to certain sellers, they have always had no min spends because the seller is covering most of the discount.

          Min spends are in place for a reason, if they run promotions 10% or greater, they need you to spend more for them to afford to run the deal, it's the same as most websites.

        • -2

          @doweyy: People will come up with anything to neg on here.
          Fun fact here are some made up things that I found on thread:

          jv 1 hour 1 min ago

          The overall price is now higher (what a joke :D), plus you are paying for membership.

        • @doweyy:
          I totally understand that mate but I felt things would change post the membership.

        • @Bippz01:

          Yeah I think they're still testing the waters, they're just trying to entice more people to get plus, I think it'll get better in the long run.

        • +4

          @Bippz01:

          WTF is up with people and minimum spend. So you want to spend $5 minimum spend to save 50 cents on your purchases? Seriously. Discount codes like these are for when you have big items that you've been eyeing but they aren't required urgently.

        • +1

          @orly:

          Its a multitude of things that piss one off:

          Minumum spend 50
          Exclude postage
          Except excluded items
          Maximum 100$
          Only ebay plus items…….

          And then you find the thing you wanted and fit it in the conditions above…

        • @Bippz01:

          This is self entitlement at it's finest. Don't purchase if it doesn't meet your requirements. Simples.

        • Only $160?? You have to didn't a LOT to get off $160! Crazy comment!

        • @Moofy:

          Some people spend thousands on eBay, the difference between max discounts is very important to some people in order to get bargains on expensive goods.

          If you want to buy a $3000 TV, $160 off is hardly more than the everyday 5% off.

        • @orly:
          Really. Expecting better deals after membership is self-entitlement??
          nyways thanks for the advise.

        Such a controversial comment, I love it!

    Other Lots More Items (88433)

    Exactly what the hell does that include?

  • Sweet

  • Same as launch special.

  • +188

    If this is the trend it sucks.

    Can’t believe people are actually upvoting it.

    Pay for a membership to gain access to this sale, and there is a minimum spend to boot? In other words, these sitewide promotions are now dead as far as non-plus members go, and plus members are now paying for access to the same sales (and at least some of the time, inferior ones) that everyone used to get for free.

    • -7

      Would you rather pay $10-$15 for shipping on each item or would you rather pay $49 once off and get free shipping on plus items for whole year? Don't forget if you ever have to return an item and seller's policy says buyer pays the shipping. There goes your $49 saving

      • +50

        Every item I have ever bought off eBay has had free shipping :/

        edit: also Amazon prime is 1000x times better than this plus membership

        • +27

          I was about to edit my comment further but here it goes;
          if you think you have been getting free shipping on items then you have been kidding yourself, as the shipping is built in the original price of item. we have been getting more deals on plus items as some genuine sellers have separated the shipping cost and original cost. Like gearbite xiaomi mi box.

        • +3

          @Jimmy007:

          if you think you have been getting free shipping on items then you have been kidding yourself, as the shipping is built in the original price of item.

          And you know who else does this? Our favourite Chinese stores and they always have. Hard to believe so many people don't see this.

        • +3

          @Jimmy007: Sure, but same can apply with eBay Plus where stores can still inflate their prices and act like the shipping is completely covered by the eBay Plus membership. I'm not sure goods have suddenly dropped in price because eBay Plus is now available and covering parts of the cost. If anything I'm sure the whole program works out more profitable for retailers or they probably wouldn't opt in.

          Shipping aside, a promotion like this 10% off 6 months ago would have been open to everyone, so there's that too.

          For now as a consumer I don't really care as the Google Mini promotions and the like make it worth while for now. Unsure if the programs a great thing in the long run.

          Ebay chooses listings to be eligible for ebay plus.

        • -3

          Lol Amazon Prime is a joke, most of the stuff is ridiculously expensive. Ebay deals + Ebay Plus is much better. Many Plus sellers are starting to put the shipping separately as well.

        • @Jimmy007: Unfortunately, as someone mentioned here, eBay actually removing the eBay Plus benefit to certain listing as their see fit.
          Gearbite Xiaomi Mi Box are now not eligible for eBay Plus for reason unknown (it used to be eBay Plus eligible).

        • @ben1680: It's not the ebay but the seller. When they makes changes to the listing. I had discussion with ebay before, regarding similar thing. There is a number of criteria about best match for the logo

        • +3

          @raven2000: Amazon video, Twitch Prime, Amazon reading, 'free' 2 day shipping (ebay doesn't offer this at all) awesome customer support and access to deals 30minutes before gen public all for $59 a year and all you get with ebay plus is free shipping and deals that were already given to people but now held hostage by ebay plus :/

        • It’s built into the price

        I've never ever paid for shipping in the past… Now you have to pay to get something you always got for free.

        • -3

          @jv: Prove me wrong with an example where you have saved more, without signing up and I would post an example where I have saved more than what I paid for my plus membership which was $29

        • +4

          It is a bargain for some JV, obviously not for you, however for others it is.

          Personally I have saved over $100.00 in shipping over the past two months on various purchases where other sellers charged for shipping on the same items. So I've definitely gotten my $40.00 worth already two months in.

        • +4

          @CHUNK:

          I've also saved more. I've I even initiated returns and instead of going through ebay dispute process ebay immediately refunded me and said to keep the item as well. I've also been given vouchers after whining on the ebay plus chat… Definitely saved over $29. Last voucher I got was $20…

          @CHUNK:

          It is a bargain for some JV, obviously not for you, however for others it is.

          It's amazing how some people can only think in terms of themselves only. They think that if a deal doesn't suit them, it CANNOT suit anybody else in the country because… how DARE people have needs and purchasing habits that are different?? They're all WRONG! There is only ONE way to buy things - everybody else is wrong!

        • +2

          @eug:

          It's amazing how some people can only think in terms of themselves only.

          oh they hypocrisy….

        • @CHUNK: but did u need those things?

        • @eug: tall poppies everywhere..

        • @Jimmy007: > if you think you have been getting free shipping on items then you have been kidding yourself

          I'm not kidding myself, I just choose to believe in fantasy. Some of us are happy here alright?

          Bring back the 10% off site-wide with free shipping !

        • +2

          @idonotknowwhy: keep believing in whatever you like to. But if your beliefs are on a public forum then they would be replied to by other people.

        • @CHUNK: that's a marginal saving at best

        • @Jimmy007: isn't it $49 a year? the $29 is just a bonus for the first year.

        • @R3XNebular:

          Vouchers for what? This is not my experience.

          Keep the item? If eBay is paying the seller, that's fine. That'll cost eBay a lot, eventually someone will have to pay for it.

      • +12

        i'd rather buy nothing in the first place???

        • +5

          That's the safest bet.

      • Don't forget if you ever have to return an item and seller's policy says buyer pays the shipping.

        But if you pay with PayPal they still cover the return shipping cost (up to a cap), right?

        • +2

          *Up to 8 refunds per PayPal account per year for eligible purchases. A cap of $45 per refund request applies.

        • @Jimmy007:

          Exactly. PayPal refunded returns.

        • @Jimmy007: Yep, so if you usually pay with PayPal, then the "free returns" benefit of eBay Plus really means nothing, unless you somehow need to return more than 8 things per year…

        • @NigelTufnel:

          unless you somehow need to return more than 8 things per year…

          I would keep that for something else and I guess there no cap at least.

      • On top of what I paid for my eBay plus on July for $29, I got a free google mini to boot! Winning!

        • how? those are two different promos

        • @Jimmy007:

          If you got confirmation that you qualify, then you'll get it… I did…

        • @jv: you only qualify if you paid for membership in August which is $49. $29 promo was in July.

        • +1

          @Jimmy007:

          Oh, I must be lucky then… They apologised for their mistake and gave me $20 credit so I can get the google home mini without losing out… :)

      • +14

        I’m not negging eBay plus, I’m negging walling off these sales. Sales which were originally introduced to incentivise people back to eBay after they grew weary of it being a site full of nothing but cheap junk to buy, and high fees to sell (which caused the former problem to begin with!)

        I’m negging the fact that these sales are now walled off to those who spend $49 (for the first year, at least). If eBay plus was really that great of a deal, they wouldn’t need to give it value by restricting these sales. This isn’t something extra you are paying for, it is something we all used to have that now you have to pay to keep!

        • If a business introduces new service how would they get people to use it? By having offers for those who use that service. if they started having 10% off for everyone then why would anyone join it. There is a 5% off code for everyone.

          It's like me negging normal credit card offers as to why they don't give me bonus 10k points while people with yearly fees credit cards get them.

        • +1

          @Jimmy007:

          You know what made me want to use eBay plus? The exact reasons you mentioned before.

          Let’s assume you are on the money.

          Pay eBay plus fee, now I have free shipping. Because I have free shipping (that is not paid for by the seller), the seller now no longer has to hide the shipping fee in the item price by artificially inflating it, and can actually pass those savings on to me.

          Buy enough stuff, and this could be well worth the price of entry.

          Great deal, right?

          Guess not because we have to now only allow subscribers access to what everyone used to have.

        • -1

          @Morien:

          Guess not because we have to now only allow subscribers access to what everyone used to have.

          You are contradicting yourself. Before ebay plus everyone paid the inflated prices. Now those who can not workout savings vs membership cost are paying the inflated prices.

    • +9

      And you are restricted to Ebay Plus items. Not even Sitewide.

    • +1

      I paid $29 have used the free post multiple times already especially for big items like cat litter definitely worth it for me.

    • +15

      I'm glad I don't have ebay plus to take advantage of this deal.

      Ever since the day they introduced it, I've been skipping over every single ebay deal posted here on OzBargain whereas in the past, I would have at least clicked the link and browsed the store.

      Nowadays I spend less, which is good I guess.

    • Lol @the 6 people who negged you

      • I will be loling at the 96 who + it, as they would be jumping on 10% off posts tomorrow and almost 80% of them are ebay plus members anyway.

        • +18

          That’s not the point.

          People don’t have to cut off their nose to spite their face. They can agree with me and still buy something at 10% off.

          I won’t disagree with you about eBay plus being nice for the free shipping, and that due to shipping no longer being added into the price we have seen been better deals.

          I won’t disagree with any of that because none of that is the point, so I have no opinion.

          The point is that what used to be available freely for all is now behind a paywall. This isn’t giving you, the eBay plus user, more. It isn’t giving you anything extra. It is simply giving you the same as you always had but now makes you pay for it. It is now giving everyone else less.

          It is poor form.

        • hahaha, People + all the time, even when it isnt a deal or even if they dont buy or get the item. They just like to hand out the + for no reason at all.

        • @lonewolf:

          or even if they dont buy or get the item.

          People are meant to vote if they think it's a good deal, regardless of whether or not they buy it. The point is to help others, and not to tell everyone that you've bought one.

    • -1

      Uhm this is the first time there has been an eBay Plus exclusive sale.

      • -1

        Yes?

    • +4

      Can’t believe people are actually upvoting it.

      Sheeps

    • +1

      i upvoted as soon as i saw the ebay sale but then changed my mind… but i can't change my vote arghh! why are we rewarding companies that are continually giving us deals that become worst as the years go on?

      • +1

        Up the top pf the deal. Click 'Votes' then click 'Revoke' next to "You voted +1 on this deal."

    • +1

      More members become ebay plus, it means they can offer better sales. 10% now, and one day they might return to 20% ebay wide for members. One of us, one of us, one of us.

  • +50

    Not worth the annual membership and 10% off is paltry.

    Should be 25% off

    • -4

      As above - "Not worth it for you. But not everyone is like you."

  • +19

    Not even a sitewide sale for Ebay Plus members. Only on "eBay Plus items". No wonder everyone jumps on the Overseas Ebay UK & US Sitewide sales with VPNs etc.

  • +2

    Only 10% off and only for ebay plus members. We have had much better ebay deals in the past that everyone could use. Wish I could give this deal a negative vote but I could only revoke my vote (I didn't see it was only for ebay plus members at first).

  • +5

    Considering you also get a free Google Home Mini when you sign up for a year it’s not such a bad deal. I’ve saved $30 off shipping within my first month, so it’s almost paid for itself already.

  • +3

    So many whiners. Maybe eBay should stop making deals at at. That will shut everyone up.

    • +20

      Including eBay

    • +7

      They may as well stop making deals at this rate. Can't remember the last time I bought something off eBay.

    • +8

      To 'stop making deals' you sorta have to have one in the first instance.

  • +27

    My issue is the item I am about to buy, is 40% cheaper from regular sellers, than the cheapest “ebay plus” listing.

    So yeah, if these are the new types of sales, than I’ll just use penny5 and be on my way.

    I am an ebayplus subscriber…but am failing to see the value.

    • Have had similar issues with the latest Phaser deal… pretty much everything I was after was available from sellers not included in the sale.

    • +2

      My issue is the item I am about to buy, is 40% cheaper from regular sellers, than the cheapest “ebay plus” listing.

      There are many other items which are good deals. You should not be judging the entire deal based on your one item.

      • +2

        But your point is moot. There may be some good deals. If you don't actually need anything, who cares about judging the deal? I'm not on ebay to window shop.

        • Hmm? seedyrom said the 1 item he is about to buy is 40% cheaper from regular sellers than the cheapest ebay plus listing, hence he sees no value in ebay plus.

          I said he shouldn't be judging the entire ebay plus deal based on that 1 item.

          Then you reply saying if you don't actually need anything, who cares about judging the deal, and you're not here to window shop? How does that relate to what I said?

    • Second this.

  • +4

    These deals should really be marked as targeted as not everyone has access.
