It's not targeted though. You have the choice of getting Plus membership and that's why it's in the title.

      • +4

Costco and Ebay Plus deals should be marked as behind pay-wall and have an option to be filtered out to be honest. It's not available to everyone until you give them money upfront to access their goods.

        • Great idea!

  • Is this stackable with other codes (PHASER etc.)
Assuming of course, that the product is eligible for both codes

    • No you can't stack promo codes.

  • Have they adjusted all the pricing to make 10% worthwhile? It's normally been 15%, 25% selected sellers and special deals.

    • -7

This is sitewide so you don't have to buy from sellers that would normally increase prices. I buy from sellers who have auctions or make offer and manage to get an even larger discount!

      • +4

It plainly says 10% of all eBay Plus items, which is a restricted set of AU sellers. This is worse than the normal 10% codes, and would only be good value if there have price reductions across the board.

        • Sorry I misread that part. A good majority of Plus sellers aren't price jackers in my experience.

        • @Clear: Correct, lots of random small stores have ebay plus items, I bet they won't jack.

        • -1

@idonotknowwhy: Oh they won't but you know what the eBay neggers here are like. Ignorant.

Just wait and they'll all neg me.

        • @Clear: You're taking one for the team by draining their negger powers (until they recharge)

      • +2

This is sitewide so you don't have to buy from sellers that would normally increase prices.

Wrong. If it was Sitewide I would of given the deal a vote as I'm an Ebay Plus member. But it is only on Ebay Plus items which is limited. So no deal for me.

        • Yes I corrected myself.

  • +8

I'm so glad these subscriptions are getting the negative response they deserve.

  • +7

I'll be chasing a high capacity micro SD to go with me note 9.
I have eBay plus and prime. I see value in both, I shop mostly online.
I can understand the other view on plus, but for me it's good. I would have spent that money on postage anyway.
There are worse things to be concerned with in the world than whether 50 bucks a year is value. If you don't see value, don't subscribe.

  • Damn my free trial ends exactly tomorrow.

  • Can you use this with the PENNY5 code to get 15% off?

    • +2

      No…just one coupon per purchase

  • I don't think this is a deal

  • Anyone knows "Washing machine" from goodguys will be free delivery for plus member???

    • I just checked a few items on the good guys eBay page and couldn't find any washing machines under eBay plus. You might have to pay for delivery.

      • Thanks, I thought all items will be free delivery for plus member

  • +3

Did anyone get this message from eBay? I am not the seller, as far as I remember, only change the country once from AUS to the US and back again.

We’ve determined that you have not followed our eBay Plus Terms and Conditions. As a result your eBay Plus membership has been terminated, your subscription fee refunded and you are no longer entitled to eBay Plus benefits. This decision is final and appeals will be automatically declined. Your ability to buy and sell on eBay is not affected by this decision.

Opening new accounts to purchase a new eBay Plus subscription is not allowed. For more information about the eBay Plus program, terms and conditions, please go to:

    https://pages2.ebay.com.au/plus/terms-and-conditions

    Thanks,

    eBay

    • +2

      Wow

    • +4

Interesting. I wonder which of the terms you allegedly breached for them to cancel it. They won't even allow you to appeal lol.

    • +2

      That's pretty harsh.

    • Someone else had it happen too on the UK 15% ebay deal. Make a new account when dealing with the uk/us deals

    • I think I might need to test this for science! Though since I paid my plus fee with a now closed Paypal account I wonder how it would work.

  • +5

I have watched at the number of listings both for items I list and items I buy, slowly have the eBay Plus removed. I signed up as specific items I buy were eBay Plus. Now they are not. The seller has changed nothing. eBay are just deciding to remove it here and there based on whatever formula they have cooked up.

    Cheaters.

    • +1

      totally agree

    • -2

It's the seller's call (when eligible) whether they list an item under ebay plus or not.

      • Huh? I just went and listed something and there is nothing about listing it under Ebay plus or not.

      • +1

I can assure you the seller has absolutely no control over eBay Plus. I sell a lot on there and it's out of our control.

It is automatically added when you list if your account, and your item, fall into certain rules. As well as how much postage you charge, the category of the item, and many other things eBay have concocted…

One day an item is eligible, and the next day it's not. I even had one guy buy an item that was eBay Plus, and the free postage disappeared while it was in the cart. Go figure…

    • it's because the seller has failed to increase the price before the sale. Don't they know the rules??? ;-)

  • +10

The only reason I have eBay plus is because I forgot to cancel it. Luckily it was only $29.

    • +1

you're not alone. i did the exact same thing, i didnt even realise you could cancel as soon as you signed up and kept the trial period.

    • same

  • +1

I deliberately avoid getting eBay Plus to save money on the situation like this.

  • Any barrah-gins?

  • +6

I was gonna say that eBay Plus could be good if you bought heavy white goods or a large item. But I can't find any. No TVs, nothing large as far as I can see. No fridges. You can get accessories but it is almost always an unpopular item. The largest item I found was a 5kg washing machine for $149.

No bed frames, but plenty of duvets and covers. Mattresses? Sure, blow up ones that come in small packaging.

A few dining tables but no sofas.

There are a few ride on mowers, but they're diecast toys at 1:16 sized scale.

Someone that paid $49 for a membership won't get their money back in free postage, as the postage is likely still built into the price of the item. Only way I can see is if they bought a heavy, large item AND had to return it.

    • +1

Someone that paid $49 for a membership won't get their money back in free postage, as the postage is likely still built into the price of the item.

I needed a Ryobi 5.0AH battery two days ago.
      This was the cheapest listing.

Shipping is $13.80, or free with eBay Plus. Saved me $13.80.

There were heaps of good Plus deals in the past few months too.

      • +2

Yeah, not suggesting no deals can be had. They can, but you have to hope it's an item you're after.

eBay Plus should be sitewide. Not select items have eBay Plus 'advantages'.

      • Same. I saved $20 shipping on a powerboard recently. There's $20 out of my $29 yearly fee covered already…

        • +4

LOL and you actually think it costs $20 to post a powerboard wow.

        • @solidussnake: And you know where raven2000 lives?

      • -8

How many people need Ryobi 5.0AH batteries?

        • +6

How many people need Ryobi 5.0AH batteries?

It seems you don't understand the concept of an example.

        • @eug:

You gave a example on a product most people would not need.

        • @HARSHREALITY: It still seems you don't understand the concept of an example.

      • -2

I actually got the exact same battery from bunnings on special for $40 a couple of weeks ago.

        • Lucky you! My bunnings doesn't even sell the twin 5AH pack any more.

        • Are you sure, that's a crazy price for a 5ah battery!

        • +1

So why didn't you post the deal here for others to buy?

    • Thought about signing up again to get a TV.. but nothing at all in that category

  • +9

Pay for access to this sale, minimum spend, ebay plus items are usually more expensive anyway, ebay's really taking the piss here.

  • +14

eBay has got everyone sucked in and brain washed.

15% off sitewide, used to be open for everyone.

    • +2

Not to mention they've thrown a spying device in your house

      • +1

        ?

        • +2

Lol, if you sign up for eBay Plus ($49 for annual subscription) you get a free Google Home. The Google Home being the 'spying device'.

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks: Thanks, glad I missed out on the spying device when I signed up :)

    • You mean 20%?

  • +1

IF I wanted to pay for membership I would have signed up to Costco a long time ago.

eBay management really must want to p*ss off their buyers. First they run almost daily crappy sales for which 99.9% of the items are marked up prior to the sale.

Now % off sales that only applies to eBay Plus members. So if you are a occasional eBay buyer you can get stuffed and pay more as far as management are concerned.

Seriously what is wrong with the OzB Mods/Admin lately. First there is a KFC burger that is full price = no bargain. Now there is a "Targeted" offer that is not marked as such.

As for Officeworks and Target if they do not want to participate in eBay promotions then eBay should just ban them. What makes these retailers so superior to the rest? Surely there are online sellers that are larger than them yet they are part of the sale.

    • +3

This isn't targeted. If you have eBay plus (you've wasted money) you can take advantage of this 'deal'.

      • +3

Wasted? I've already recouped my $29, and now I get access the special deals like this one…winning!

    • -6

      "lately" lol

      • Let us know if there is any issue we can help you with Putnum.

        • -1

You could start by not moving an ebay deal that has over 100 upvotes to the forums and leaving it there despite the deal still being on, just because there are a billion repetitive comments about price-jacking (which does occur but there are still deals to be found)

I'm referring to last week's PHASER deal.

        • @Putnum:

The deal being moved to the forums had nothing to do with comments. What happened was the OP posted the 20% off deal 85 sellers, however the terms of the sale were dramatically revised to only 10 sellers. The deal had received 100 of votes on the basis it was for those 85 sellers, revising the deal to 10 sellers only is a dramatic change and not what the deal votes were for. See pinned comment here and the mod comment in the post itself. It was also mentioned in the new phaser deal post

Users and the OP reported the deal and asked for it to be removed due to significant change, we moved it to the forums so comments would be retained and someone else could repost the new deal for 20% off 10 sellers. This way the votes would accurately represent the new deal for 10 sellers and not the former 85 sellers, as that is a significant difference and changing the previous deal and retaining all those votes would be misleading, that was done/posted here. It's common practice to expire deals that have a change that is not insignificant in price, % off or terms that have a direct impact on the deal.

It sounds like that wasn't clear enough in the mod comment and pinned comment of the previous PHASER deal, I've edited that deal myself now to clarify that it's a mod comment and also link to the new PHASER deal.

Hope that clears it up and feel free to report in future any issues so we can rectify/clarify appropriately.

    • KFC Burgergate…

    • Now there is a "Targeted" offer that is not marked as such.

Here is a wiki link that will help explain what a targeted offer is. A targeted deal isn't one that requires membership, that's a common misconception. You can also report deals that you are feel are targeted and you'll usually get an explanation back if it's not correct.

Seriously what is wrong with the OzB Mods/Admin lately. First there is a KFC burger that is full price = no bargain

As always the community decides if it's a good deal or not, not moderators. Just to clarify, there is no rule that something must be discounted as such. A deal can be good value and not be discounted, while a deal can be bad value and discounted; we don't want to say that bad value deal is okay but the good value deal isn't or encourage 'fake discounts' for the sake of complying with a guideline so it can be posted here. We let the community decide what is a good deal or not through the voting system.

As mentioned please report deals or contact us in future for guideline issues or explanations, you can also make suggestions in the site discussion forum, most of our guidelines are formed from community suggestions/discussion.

      Thanks

  • +1

It's funny that even being an Ebay Plus member, you still have a minimum spend (50$ in this case) wow :) . Well, someone ain't renewing their membership next time!

    • I'm disappointed that's all plus members get. Might as well not sub it

  • +9

The whole eBay Plus thing is not working as eBay anticipated. I cannot wait to see how desperate eBay will get by September when it comes to memberships.

Most likely the offer will include half price annual memberships plus a free Google Home mini and a eBay gift card. Then all those who have signed up early will be annoyed.

  • Thanks OP, I could have used this 1 week ago though :(

  • As sods law dictates, eBay will have a sale when I have no money at all.

  • +5

LOL, 10% off plus items, which not only requires a plus subscription but also requires you to spend $50 minimum… How is this even a deal?

    • +1

It would be worthy of a deal if it was 15% sitewide for eBay Plus Members. You'd have to buy one decent item and the savings would have made the membership worth it

  • +4

The predictable price jacking has already started. A 12TB Western Digital Gold HDD from Computer Alliance has already gone from 699 to 749 in the last 24 hours.
Why have sales exclusively for ebay plus when the you aren't actually saving anything?

  • +2

I suggest plus members don't buy anything on this deal they need to give us better deal to subscribe to this plus thing

  • +1

What percentage of items on sale at eBay is considered Plus items? If only 10%, then sitewide is not very appealing.

  • The $50 minimum spend is a joke.

    • +4

The $50 minimum spend is a joke.

      "A $50 minimum spend walks into a bar…"

Na, doesn't work - I'll have to disagree with you there.

  • 10% or 5% with Flybuys expiring today? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/396717

  • Am I the only one thinks there could be a chance to get some decent deals given postage is on ebay so those plus item sellers might as well charge high postage fees to compensate lower item costs? Will see.

  • +1

Ebay is testing the water. Why Plus member only? Coz a lot of ppls don't see its value & didn't sign up after trial, including me. So they want more of you to sign up.

  • Could eBay Plus spell the end of sitewide discounts (10% 15% etc) for all (non-Plus) users? After a lame deal like this, surely they can’t offer a sitewide 10% for non-paying members.

  • -3

just cancelled my plus trial, no benefit for me

    • And how exactly is that a reason to neg this deal?

      • +8

Most items are available from non plus sellers for a cheaper cost

        • ^This.

  • Thanks TA, an item I had my eye on is eBay plus and I save $79 using this deal :)
    Thanks!

  • Maybe we need a hide "eBay Plus listings" option? Lots of salt in this thread..

  • Sad. They should allow a second, special coupon for Ebay Plus members that allow you to combine with a 20% off code.
    Then membership becomes worthwhile

  • so this is 10% off selected items(ebay plus items),and you have to pay a membership fee.
it's worse than 20% selected items sale we just had

  • What time does the deal go active? Getting an error msg saying 'looks like this code isn't ready yet, try again later'

    • not too sure what time, but read the original post. it may or may not say.

  • Sitewide vouchers above 5% are dead, hope 5% would at least last longer

  • so it seems all the discounts form now on will need ebay plus account. This is a sneaky way to get people to sign up to the plus.

  • well…there is some more Xiaomi battery's >_>
