One child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. That's why this October we challenge all men and women to paint their fingernails. Fingernails that spark conversations. Conversations that inspires donations. Donations that allows for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world. Because it shouldn't hurt to be a child. Help end violence against children.

        • @PainToad:

          Privilege isn't a guarantee unfortunately

        • +3

          @PainToad:

Men are much much more likely to be be a victim of violence or murder in general. The gender of the perpetrator is irrelevant, that is victim blaming.

Blaming the victim is victim blaming, blaming the perpetrator is…well the perpetrator's typically the one who committed the act, so that'd be fair… =x

Men also get involved in violent crime a lot more, and have you seen a bar fight started by two chicks that end up in a fatality? It's the blokes who end up glassing each other or going for a king hit.

In any case, people are dying and irrespective of their gender or whatever, it's shit. We obviously should do something to stop that, and if you want to start a not-for-profit for male breast cancer or "Polished Female" - go for it, I'm sure you'll have you backers.

No need to fling poo on a forum looking for discounted stuff ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@Molloch: "women are around 10 times more likely to be a victim of DV than a man"

According to the Australian government statistics it's 5 times. You need to edit the above.

        • +1

@Molloch: Prostate cancer kills more than breast cancer. Not much envy really.

          https://www.michaelmilton.com/latestnews/Which-cancer-kills-…

And Breast cancer receives $60 million a year more funding.

          https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/men-die-earlier-but…

I'd say unequivocally there is an imbalance that needs addressing urgently.

        • @Zedsdeadbabyzedsdead:

Very much comes down to definitions; if you look at occasions of abuse, rather than whether a single person has ever experienced violence, the figures vary considerably from those in your link. It gets a bit more complex than you'd expect.

There is no doubt that men are also victims of domestic violence, but no matter which way you count the level of DV, they are always in the minority. This doesn't mean that it isn't a cause worth supporting and campaigning for, it is just the "what-about-ism" that comes across as being overly narcissistic.

        • +4

@Molloch: "comes across as being overly narcissistic."

Please explain how calmly responding, quoting accurate facts and figures is "overly narcissistic."?

        • @Zedsdeadbabyzedsdead:

Please explain how calmly responding, quoting accurate facts and figures is "overly narcissistic."?

Because you deviated from their narrative and it doesn’t suit their agenda.

Men are less likely to seek early medical intervention and less likely to attend routine wellness checks.

Because there is less funding for public awareness campaigns for men’s issues and more focus on women’s health in the media.

but no matter which way you count the level of DV, they are always in the minority.

But men are in the majority form every other form physical violence, threats and murders.

Society as a whole is F’ed. Regardless of age, gender and race. We need to address the issues as a whole. Not pinning things on certain groups

      sexiest campaign
      Movemember

    • Wait are you the person who called this a sexiest campaign last year? And wouldnt acknowledge the error?
Im convinced youre doing this as a joke.

  • Hi team,

Anyone know if there are any exclusions/ inclusions regarding what you can get. E.g. No Wagyu burgers/ salads or is it a free for all?

    • +1

Answered my own Q. Per T&Cs

      1. Each burger QR code will entitle you to a free standard burger of your choice (excluding Sliders and ‘Mini Me Packs’, ‘Dynamic Duos’ and any burger from the Specialty Range). Any additions or optimisations to your burger of choice, and any sides or drinks, will need to be paid for separately. This offer will apply to “dine-in” orders only. The menu restrictions and other conditions of redemption are subject to change under clause 17.
      • +1

Might be looking in the wrong spot but looking at the menu (website), I don't see any separation of what's a standard burger and what's Specialty Range?

  • Bargained? Seems not able to open the link once I click the "donate" button and unable to sign up as well

    • Doesn’t work for me too!

    • Getting error message from "Raisely.com" saying "We couldn't find that campaign"

    • -1

No, it's a code bug. Someone should report it but I'm not going to.

  • Can you choose what burger to eat?

    • Yes, but you pay the difference for extras.

      • What is the max price on the burger?

        • +1

No idea, I tend to bitch-slap the payment machine with my amex and not look at the price?

        • +9

          @idonotknowwhy: Not the ozbargain way!

        • +5

          @idonotknowwhy:

No idea, I tend to bitch-slap the payment machine with my amex and not look at the price?

Someone needs to start a Polished Machine campaign to end violence against machines!

    • Yes would like to know which burger it is. The picture looks like an Almighty burger - would be surprised if that was the free burger given out.

    • +1

      According to the T&Cs:

      Burger QR code conditions

And then cross-referencing an old deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/329353):

burger from our Specialty range (Pork Belly, Wagyu, Organic Beef)

Would suggest it is anything from Beef, Lamb, Chicken and Veggie burger sections.

    • +7

Good excuse to not attempt to solve any problems then.

Q: Should we reduce our plastic bag waste?
      A: Nah, China/India should because they're bigger.

Q: Should we help the homeless in Australia get back on their feet?
A: Nah, the homeless here are richer than those in third world countries.

Q: Should we help children who are victims of violence in Australia?
A: Nah, middle eastern children have it tougher.

Can one donate twice over 2 email addresses and get 2 burgers?

    • There would be nothing stopping you. Just get a seperate grilld account with the second email address

    • -1

just pretend you do this for your friend

    • +1

Donate once and get 8 burgers!

    • No you can't. I asked them.

  • Has it been a year already since the last time they had a similar deal?!

  • just donated, but haven't got email yet

    • same here

      • got the email, Cheers

    • Yep, no email - been almost 15 minutes.

      • +1

Finally got it - and all seem to have worked fine.

  • +2

invalid input syntax for uuid: "ozbargain"

    • same

      • I emailed their support teams.
        The issue is now resolved.

  • I put a target in of $50. Does that mean that I now have to raise or donate $50 to get the 8 grill'd burgers?

    • Well yes, did you choose the $50 polished man pack that comes with a shirt and nail polish?. I unticked the box and just went with the minimum $20.

  • +2

    I've done my bit.

  • Great deal and a great cause. I'm in. An added bonus is that there is a Grill'd less than 10 min walk from my work!

It looks like it's "Dine In Only". Does this mean I can't use my free burger for pre-ordering online than going into the restaurant to pick up and take away?

    • What's stopping you from buying and leaving?

      • My ideal scenario, if I was to take up this offer, is to pre-order online, then pick up and take away in person, purely for time saving reasons. It looks like they don't want me doing that with this initiative.

        • +1

          Bring a container with you?

        • @TarquinOliverNimrod:

That solves the having to dine in problem, but not the ability to pre-order problem.

      • +1

Nothing man, wrap the burger up in a napkin, put it in your pocket and walk off!

        • Haha that's what I'm thinking.

    • Been through this campaign twice now and eaten a lot of burgers. I always try to take away, sometimes they allow it and sometimes they don't. Depends on who you get, varies even going to the same store but different servers. Not sure how strict they will be this time.

    • Depends on the store, mine lets me do it.

    • Dine In Only does tend to mean you can't take away, yes…

      • just take it away after you order a "dine in" free burger, no one is going to stop you…

  • Joined the team - donation made.

  • Can I claim multiple burgers in one day or only one each day?

    • +1

Says only on Tuesday and Wednesday of each week in October, so 1 burger a day.

    • Donate multiple times :D

  • Any one know how long this offer is valid for?

    • +1

To participate in the Promotion, head to http://www.polishedman.com/ and register at any time between 10.00 am (AEST) on Wednesday 5 September 2018 and 11.00 pm (AWST) on Wednesday 24 October 2018 (Registration Period).

  • +2

My wife likes Grill'd. I'm thinking we both donate and chomp through 16 burgers in October.

    • Chewy chomp?

    • We should set up an area where anyone who was/is too busy to redeem it can give it away for free :D

  • How many times is grilld going to change the terms and conditions this year?

    • Someone should diff it and keep us updated :D

  • Link broken? 'invalid input syntax for uuid: "ozbargain" ' - wanting to join the OzBargain team #teamspirit

    • Worked fine on my old samsung s5.

      • +3

All good, realised that I had to sign up first and then join team

  • +1

have anyone got email after donate?

    • Welcome to the waiting game…

  • Donated at 3:34pm…

    Been waiting almost 2 hours…

    • Got ozburger grill'd

      • Just signed up now got the Grill'd unique code email instantly.

    • Almost 5 hours, inbox is still empty…

      Profile still sits at $0…

  • +1

Can anyone actually log into the Grill'd app though? It has 1.5 stars on app store and no matter what I try I get an "unknown error" message when trying to log in.

    • Same problem here. Changed my password numerous times but wasn’t able to log in. Workaround was to log in via the website, then reset the password there. No idea why that worked. The app is horrendous

  • Donated 20 to Ozbargain team

  • +1

    Polish only? Kind of racist.

  • +1

And we're over $1,000! Keep it up 👍

  • -3

Maybe better than $500k donated to “the wildlife whatever foundation to save the coral in great ocean road “ recently by liberal government after only 30 minutes meeting ?!!

    • +5

Not sure if joking, but it was just under $500m and it was for the Great Barrier Reef.

  • Anyone fundraised the required $20 minimum and hasn't got an email for the Grill'd burger? I know the donor received a notification, but as the fundraiser, I haven't received an email yet.

    The T&Cs state:

To receive a burger, you must have successfully registered with Polished Man and raised or donated at least $20, ticked the Grill’d promotion check-box when registering and signed up to the Grill’d App by 11.59 pm (AWST) the previous day.

    Joined the OzBargain team.

    • I'm still waiting for both of mine…

    • +1

Yep in the same boat as you. Fundraised $20 and the donor received their voucher but I didn't. Have emailed Polished Man asking about it but no reply yet

      • Any reply?

        • They suggested checking my junk mail folder, which I'd already done so I told them as much and still waiting on their next reply.

        • @mangomuncha: Same, although the next reply is that they're workingon this at the moment and they'll get back to me. I have been fb messaging them.

  • Great, just as I'm getting in the swing of going mostly vegan, this comes up.

I know, they have some (close to) vegan options, but this is Grill'd.

    • They have a vegan burger. https://www.grilld.com.au/menu/amazing-vegan-cheeseburger

Haven't tried it - just know about it after they did a promo for "Rabbit Burger" - IE rabbit food - IE lettuce/vegetables/vegan but people were thinking it was really rabbit (which apparently they did have a few years ago)

      • I tried it out of curiosity. It wasn't that good. Quite salty - twice the salt of the other burgers. Pretty bland too. I dont think it was trying to imitate meat because it tasted nothing like it. It was a weird mushy vegetable amalgamation

  • +2

Note. This is also tax deductable!!!!

  • Got my code instantly, as of 9.55pm

  • Email says to login to app, tap on More, then tap on "Polished Man" to enter my code. Trouble is, it's not there. No Polished Man.

    Email states:
"Vouchers will appear in your app each Tuesday and Wednesday between the 2nd and 24th of October."

So, I'm guessing it should have read:
'Polished Man' will appear in your app each Tuesday and Wednesday between the 2nd and 24th of October.

    Yes?

  • +1

    Ah. Ignore that.
I updated to latest version of app (released on 5/9) and Polished Man now appears.

  • I already have grilled app. Is this for current users or just new users please?

    • Both

      • Thanks!

  • so $2.5 / burger? any burger?
