As of "What is Polished Man?"

One child dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. That's why this October we challenge all men and women to paint their fingernails. Fingernails that spark conversations. Conversations that inspires donations. Donations that allows for trauma recovery and trauma prevention for children around the world. Because it shouldn't hurt to be a child. Help end violence against children.

    • Standard range only

  • Much better than previous deals, working at Grill'd was even more horrible than normal during this period in 2016. People coming in, refusing to paint a nail and completely unaware of what the cause even was…

  • And we're over $2,000!

  • Great burgers for a great cause. Thanks for the link!

  • +1

Grilld burgers are average at best. I got a bit thicc after eating 12 burgers over 2 weeks.

  • -1

it shows $50 to get 8 burgers.

    • Where exactly? The link in the deal shows $20.

  • Is the donation tax deductible?

    • According to above comments, yes.

    • Absolutely not - you receive a benefit! Just like you can't deduct your donation to Coles which you made in exchange for groceries.

  • +1

    And we're over $3,000!

And I worked out how to put the logo on 😂

  • If we donate through the OzBargain group, does anyone know if we still get the tax deductible receipt or OzBargain gets the tax deductible receipt?

    • Please note that it was Spackbace who created the OzBargain Team, not us. Also from past experience, you have to email to request tax receipt, and the tax deductible receipt will be sent by YGAP & Global Development Group. It will be of the amount you have donated.

    • It is stated in one of the emails with the subject 'Thank you for your donation' - If you would like a tax-deductible receipt, please forward this email to [email protected] within the next 30 days.

I sent the email to them and received the following message:
Thank you for your email and generous donation.
Your tax-deductible receipt will be issued to you towards the end of the financial year, by June 1, 2019, at the latest.
YGAP partners with Rotary to deliver our projects. It is in partnership with Rotary that donations to Polished Man are made tax deductible.

I assume people from previous years received their receipts and there's nothing dodgy?

      • 2016 & 2017 were with Global Development Group (GDG). I guess this year they changed the sponsor?

        • Strange, I donated to the OzBargain group created by Spackbace but didn’t received the email mention above by littleburrito

        • @leockl:

Hey did you receive the "High five for free burgers" from Grill'd though?

        • @azvc: Yeah I did received the High five one but not the one mentioned by littleburrito

      • Yes got last years tax receipt took a long time to receive though and even had to follow up.

  • +1

Donated $20 last night on the Team OzBargain page but still haven't receive any confirmation at all…

Is anyone else still waiting for their confirmation email to arrive? Or have I perhaps mistyped my email address…

    • I haven’t got mine either and hence can’t reply back to get the receipt towards the end of financial year

  • Over $4,000 😀

  • And there's $5,000! Halfway!

  • +8

And Scotty donated $2k! Woo we're over $7,000 now

    • +2

      That's a lot of free burgers…

    • +2

Good on ya', Scotty. That is incredibly generous.

  • If anyone hasn't received an email, please see the following advice from the PM crew:

    1. Wait 10 minutes for the email to arrive from Grill’d
    2. Check their Junk Mail
    3. Ensure that they ticked the Grill’d Box (they can do this by clicking the ‘edit profile’ button on their dashboard)

If they continue to have problems they can email [email protected].

    • Have sent an email to [email protected] on the tax deductible email but haven’t got any reply. Anyone else having the same issue?

    • Hi, how do you do step 3 if you did not register on donation? I tried emailing them, but no response.

      • Did you click the box: "Check this box to qualify for 8 free burgers from Grill’d – T&Cs apply". It should be checked by default when you donate even if you haven't registered.

        • Of course. Still no reply from polishedman. Not even a confirmation of payment.

        • @eeeee:

I can pass on your details with my contact if you like. I guess just PM the email address used.

  • Is there any exception to this deal - is it with any burgers?

  • There's $8,000! Nearly there!

  • tax deductions on donations - WOOT OZBARGAIN SPIRIT!

  • +4

ooohhhhh kind of regret donating now

The main killers of children in Australia, according to the latest statistics from the Australian Institute of Criminology (2010-2012), are:

    Mothers (47%, n=20)
    Fathers (30%, n=13)
Mothers’ new male partners (19%, n=8)

    Still…free burgers!

  • I received an email with an unique code but can't find the "Polished Man" option on the app for me to enter the code. Does anyone have the same issue?

    • Nope it added fine for me.

      • That's odd. Where did you find the section to apply the code? Do you need to put the payment details first? Do you need to sign up a new account on the app to apply the code (as I already had an account before)?

  • I have donated three days ago, but my profile has not updated. I have emailed the address above for them to fix.

Something similar happened last year if I remember correctly.

  • Easy solution.

All those people that annoy you on the street asking for donations. They should just do an actual job like Uber or Deliveroo instead and then donate whatever they would have made.

But I guess that wouldn't be the same, because those people are currently paid by charities

  • How are these burgers free if I paid $20 for them?

Also do I need to show my nail polished fingers to claim the burgers?

  • Over $9,000, nearly there!

  • +1

Does anyone know if the codes generated are able to be used in the online ordering page so I can just head there and pick up the burger without waiting for lines? (my local store gets pretty busy even on an average day)

  • I saw a lot of people saying they didn't get the email for the free burgers, when donating to Team OzBargain. Is that fixed yet?

    • +1

My partner just donated 20 bucks to Team Ozbargain and got his email pretty much straight away…

      • may i asked when did your partner donate it? is it in the last 48 hours? or it has been a while back ?

        • +1

He made the donation, got the email and I posted my reply soon after… 11 hours ago to be precise! 😊

        • +2

          @AbbyL:
Confirming I just went through the whole process, carefully reading things, changing defaults and sticking to it that I just wanted to donate $20 to Ozbargain team. I got the email immediately and got the code to enter into my existing Grill'd app. It's all ready now for October.

          @foundit:
Some tips for anyone about to try it.

I went to the site for the sign up process. I think this page will ask you to nominate an amount that you wish to raise. They say this figure is just to inspire others. It shows $200, $500 etc. I think I clicked on the bottom figuire of the lot and was able to edit it to $20. Probably not an issue.
Near the bottom of the page, ticked by default, it mentioned a thing about Grill'd. I made sure it was ticked and went to the next page.

I think they then ask you, if you'd like some accelerator pack. Includes the Grill'd offer plus a bunch of other things. It will also cost you $50. I made sure it was unchecked and went to the next page.

There were one or two more pages with things to read carefully and watch out for.

Once I was signed in, I went back to the OzBargain page for Polished man (in the Original Post) and joined the team.

I then went back to the OzBargain page and found the donate button. ANOTHER TRAP. Smaller one. I'd entered $20 donation. They also tick by default, that you'd like to help out with the cost of fund raising, which charges another 5+% more. I made sure it was unchecked.

On that page, there was one more message about the Grill'd offer, so I made sure that was checked.

Once the donation was done, I checked my mail program, and found the email from Grill'd, with instructions and a code to put into the Grill'd app.

Also, there was an email that arrived before the Grill'd one, saying thank you etc.
The Thank you email contains your tax receipt, in the body of the email.

  • Been chasing this up for over a week now. Donation wasn't credited (fixed now) and am still getting the run around about the burger vouchers (technical glitches etc). What a mess.

    • Yes, I see the funds have left my account but Donation wasn't credited and no code for burgers supplied. Have sent them an email yesterday but heard nothing yet.

      • I've been trying for almost 2 weeks…

Might contact my CC company for a chargeback…

        • Chargebacking a charity is disturbing.

        • May have to do a chargeback myself i didn't get a email either, whoever made the website did a poor job. Upon making a donation you don't even get some type of transaction number and you can't change your email in the edit profile option?
I've sent them a email but unfortunately i made my donation as anonymous so i'm probably gonna get given the run around.

  • +5

    And we've beaten last year's total 😀

  • At the end of last year, I felt so gross after eating all those burgers. I think I gained a few kg.

    • Order them bunless/no bun!

      • is that even a thing?

  • +1

As expected, you can see the Terms and Conditions after signing up.
    This is the link

    Highlights include

    • You do not need to demonstrate one painted fingernail to redeem your free burger.

    • Each burger QR code will entitle you to a free standard burger of your choice (excluding Sliders and ‘Mini Me Packs’, ‘Dynamic Duos’ and any burger from the Specialty Range)

    • This offer will apply to “dine-in” orders only.

  • How long do we have to do the 20 bucks?

Long story short, my card has been cancelled at the moment due to some fraudulent things, but my account is still 100% in tact, went to link it to my PayPal while waiting for my replacement card to be sent to me, and it says it will be 4-5 days before it will be ready to go.

Will I be able to throw 20 at this in 4-5 days or will the offer be over by then?

    Cheers!

    • you will probably miss out on the first week of burgers as the codes start im assuming once the donation has hit the $20 mark

      • Got my PayPal sorted yesterday anyways, now the site says it doesn't take PayPal, so I'm screwed anyways. Bugger.

  • Does anyone know if we have to dine-in for these burgers or could take away

    • Dine in Only.

      • Oh ok thanks. Thought you could take away too :(

  • -1

How does the 16 burgers work? Do you get 2x per week?

  • Just signed up and joined team Ozbargain, and circulated a work email imploring my colleagues to get around the cause and donate (hopefully $20 so i get the burgers). Although a few are already suss because they know I'm cheap and see that free burgers upon $20 of donations are involved..

    • Not sure if I misunderstood but I'm pretty sure your colleagues are the ones who will get the free burgers if they donate $20 (and not you)…

      • +1

works both ways Abby, fundraise or donate according to OP's post. Presumably this is how one can get 2 x 8 burger codes among two people

        • My bad! I only saw the updated post now! 😊

  • Anyone having issues with logging into the grill’d app or creating a new one?

    • Yep me too we already donated just can't get the app password reset :(

      • Reset it through the browser then login through the app.

        • Thanks Ozhunter tried that but still doesn't work :( what are we going do bout the burgers we donated? :(

        • Hey Ozhunter maybe something wrong with the mobile? Would a new sim card reset the app??

      • Been having issues with the app all day. Eventually I was able to reset password via the browser. Why you even need to use the app for a dine-in only order is ridiculous.

  • Is anyone having issues?

I set up a donation page so that my family can donate, however I have not received a confirmation email from PM that acknowledges the creation of my page… is this normal?

    • If you didn't get the email with the code please email us at [email protected] and we will be able to supply you one asap!

  • Hey guys

Anyone else having problems with the app as in resetting their password? Keeps saying error or another email associated with this account. Can't even remember password from last year but app won't let me reset :(

    • Yep, got the same problem. After entering the mobile number, it says it's already associated. Wasted time on this, and will have to activate a $0 Kogan sim for it.

      • If you didn't get the email with the code please email us at [email protected] and we will be able to supply you one asap!

  • Is it worth the hassle considering donation issues and app issues?

    • Already got the code and everything lol.

      • Did you have any probs with the app?

        • No. None. I had issues in their previous deal about getting a free burger but this was really smooth.

    • Yes cos we donated already and "free" Grill'd burgers yum.

    • I regret it

    • If you didn't get the email with the code please email us at [email protected] and we will be able to supply you one asap!

      • I got it eventually. Paid a stranger $5 outside Grill'd to let me use her phone for the sms confirmation. $25 for 8 burgers is still good.

  • The button in the app doesn’t work when I’m applying the code. Does anyone else have this problem?

    • Uninstall and reinstall try that. Otherwise give HO a call.

      • Reinstalled but still same problem. I did this for partner too but we both have the same problem. We can’t go beyond entering the code - the button doesn’t work.

        • Give HO a call before tomorrow!
