    Let the cashback wars commence!

  • -2

The only problem with Shopback is how unprofessional their rep is. Just look at what they upvoted in Cashreward's post.. Absolutely disgusting behaviour.

    • +10

Pretty sure ethics are few and far between on this site when it comes to a few cents.

    • +1

Which of those 2 users is Shopback?

      • +3
        • Hmm shouldn't they have an Associated tag or something on them?

        • +5

@sTon3r: Their profile says that they're the Official Store Rep and says it here

        • @Clear: Got it

    • +1

Just a bit o' friendly baNter mate!

    • +14

      Absolutely disgusting behaviour

      Lol…. You are easily offended!

      • +2

Bad mouthing a competitor is unprofessional.

        • Yes, but neither are Fortune 500 companies, I think a bit of (transparent) jousting is all par for the course!

Different if the rep was sockpuppeting using an alias.

        • @ash2000: Fortune 500 companies are irrelevant to this specific instance however. It's unprofessional for any rep here to go supporting badmouthing of a competitor.

        • @Clear: its just a vote?

        • @hadz: Yeah a vote itself is harmless but it's the context that matters. Someone was saying something bad about CR and SB (the competitor) reinforced that point by upvoting it.

ShopCred (Rewardbucks) used to do something similar. They were supposed to launch several years ago but due to delays they launched just before Shopback which essentially killed their chances. Then in every single CR post where someone said something bad about CR the ShopCred rep would proceed to upvote it. Looked very unprofessional very quickly.

So if Shopback realise that this isn't good then I'm happy :)

        • +2

          its just a vote?

Yeah but it's bordering on breaking the guidelines because it's supporting a negative comment about a competitor's company.

          Expected Behaviour
Representatives are free to participate in other posts as long as they don't:
negatively comment about a competitor's company.

        • +4

@WatchNerd: Correct. You don't see me going around doing that in Gearbest or Banggood posts considering I rep for 3 Chinese companies. Infact you'll often see me being helpful ;)

        • @WatchNerd: comment != vote so i dont think what theyve done is a big deal. If the rule wording were to change, would a competitor downvoting a positive shopback review also be punished?

        • +1

Nobody is being punished, Clear just highlighted what the Shopback Rep did as he thought it was unprofessional.

        • @WatchNerd:

At least the positive vote is transparent. If you are concerned about this sort of behaviour then you should especially be concerned about negative votes and how they are hidden.

This whole thing is a bit of a blow-up over a simple transparent up-vote on a comment.

That being said, I've never been a fan of the comments voting feature and wish it wasn't implemented on OzBargain.

        • @WatchNerd: >Nobody is being punished
noone is being punished under the current rules. maybe I shouldnt have said also.

Nevertheless the whole situation has blown out of proportion from a vote. It couldve been a joke, a misclick, SB's favourite colour could secretly be green who knows

      • +2

This is spiralling out of control like Nkorea and the USA.

I propose a summit between shopback and cashrewards. I'll mediate for the price of 1000 A grade eneloops and a Christmas hamper

    • -5

Clear, you also accused the Shopback rep of negging another comment without any proof. Your behaviour is not exactly upstanding.

      • You should read my comment properly and maybe click the link? I provided proof.

        • -4

          No proof mate.

I guess all your negs are coming from Shopback as well.

I guess all your negs are coming from Shopback as well.

Impossible. Store reps can't neg in their own deals. Nice try.

        • -4

          @Clear:

          You've lost it.

        • @Clear: Hey bud, venting is fine but I think that's enough, if you continue, you're only going to get more frustrated. Take a breather and start looking for deals :)

        • -2

          Still waiting for proof.

        • +2

@Vash1984: I've made my point and provided facts to back it up. Now I'll go find some eBay stuff to splurge all my coin on :)

        • +1

          @Clear:

Maybe add this to your basket ;)

          https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/Various-Artists-Relaxation-Various…

          Ps. Less 3.9% with cashback!

        • @ash2000: Get me a 20% sitewide coupon while we're at it. Some Bose headphones and this kickass massage chair will have me as mellow as yellow.

        • +2

          @Clear:

Oh lordy…. You'd be able to cope with anything the SB rep does with that bad boy….. Water off a ducks back.

Ps. Will look hideous in your lounge though.

        • @ash2000: But that's where the 3.9% cashback comes into play. Wouldn't take much of the extra coin to IKEA up to a nice standard :)

        • @Clear:

          No proof mate.

Accuses you of no proof when you provided.

I guess all your negs are coming from Shopback as well.

Proceeds to make an illogical comment without any proof.

          Some people these days…

        • -1

          @pifts:
          @Clear:

You know what is truly illogical?

I asked Clear to provide proof to back up his/her accusation:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/402205#comment-6351174

And now you've been downvoted. Wouldn't put it past me if that exact Shopback rep did the neg. Unbelievable!

I thought it was a reasonable request since Clear made a big point about the "unprofessional and disgusting behaviour" from Shopback rep for up-voting a particular comment.

Clear is also a rep so I assume they also hold themselves to the same standards they expect from other reps.

Unfortunately I was offered no proof.

    • +3

Meh, I sometimes up-vote unpopular comments like that out of sympathy. (See your votes here).

      • +3

Some men just want to watch the world burn.. ;)

  • +7

I'm guessing eBay are offering a 4% affiliate fee for this promo, so ShopBack are taking a mere 0.1% margin. Long live the Cashback Wars

    • I guess it should be 5%

    • +1

Usually the opposite actually. They tend to lose profit in these large increases to beat the competition.

  • +4

    8:00pm - 12:00pm isn't 4 hours

    • +5

      16 hours?

      • +1

        looks like op fixed it

  • Shopback is pretty good. Fast response if there is a problem.

  • +1

Is this compatible with the HAPPY 10% off code?

    • Yes.

Sadly when I used mine this morning it was sitting at 1%

      • It's only going to make a few $$$ difference for me but I guess it all counts!

  • Meh, I prefer cashrewards because somehow; whenever there's a problem and we sulk about it here, TA somehow knows and comes along to help.

Hey TA, how do you already know when someone mentions cashrewards on here? Surely you don't read every comment/post do you?

    • When I had an issue with them last time they hardly helped.. the day before it was meant to go from a payment pending to approved they declined it

  • So you don’t get cashback when paying with ebay gift cards?

If mine gets rejected for using ebay gift cards to pay - will never use shopback again. Never had problem with CR.

    • Hey tajid,

From our own experiences, we've made test purchases which were funded by eBay gift cards, with successful tracking and payout. However do note that it's not guaranteed for payout by eBay themselves, which is why we've left this clause in our T&Cs:

Payment using any type of voucher or eBay credit may result in your purchase being ineligible to earn cashback.

      • Hi thanks for the quick reply.

Unfortunately just had 2 of my previous purchases (previously tracked), now rejected - I suspect for this reason….
Hoping for this to be reversed.. never had this problem with CR

        • Could be a recent change, but if you like we'll see what we can do for you. Just send us a private message with the email address linked to your ShopBack account.

        • @gotyourback: purchased over $500 the other day during the flash sale, but till now it has not tracked at all. This was my first time to use shopback as I normally use cashrewards without any problems with tracking within minutes.

Click was registered and my utems are actually on their way to be delivered but the shopback tracking is still nil. Can you help me out please before I regret clicking through shopback.

        • @Punisher:

          Hi Punisher,

Tracking speed depends on the store involved - eBay is one of those stores that do take a few days to track. If you don't receive tracking in the next few days send us a private message and we'll help you out.

  • +1

To support TA or save a few extra cents, that's the question :P

  • Backkkk to you, @tightarse… :(

  • +2

Couldnt they have just made it a nice round 4.0% ? :D

    • Because a lower number = cheaper price.
If we combine a lower number price with a lower number percent this will equal a 2x lower number giving us a price that is 2x cheaper or 200% less…
      It's the "hardly normal" way…

  • was going to buy laptop, great deal but max $50 kinds stop me from buying.

  • +2

Just wonder why shopback competitors get higher upvotes than this deal which really was a better deal.

    • herd mentality
