[NSW] All You Can Eat Indian Lunch Buffet $14.90 @ Hungry Indian Ryde [All 7 Days 11.30AM to 3PM]

1070

One of the best value for money deals around Sydney. The food is yummy too. It is not a limited time offer and runs for all 7 days of the week.

Includes

  • 1 Dal curry
  • 1 Veg curry
  • 1 Chicken curry
  • 1 Lamb/Goat curry
  • Roti / Naan
  • Rice
  • Salad
  • Papadums
  • a can of soft drink

You can upgrade of the soft drink to a lassi for free. Make sure you ask for the Mango lassi [It tastes amazing and is to die for!!!] :)

Plain and simple looking place and the dishes on the menu are pretty reasonably priced too.

Not sure if it's the kind of restaurant you'd take the missus for date night. But if you're keen on a hearty meal packed with good spices and flavour, look no further. They are BYO I think.

Hyderabadi Chicken 65 and Butter chicken are very good actually. And Mixed fried rice - Indian street style - woohoo!!!

120 Blaxland Road, Ryde

    • Not from Melbourne but about 10yrs ago when I was visiting Melbourne we stumbled across an all you can eat Indian buffer for $10 each. All I know is that it was near the Princess Theater. Not sure if it's still there, sorry.

    • http://www.rajbhog.com.au/ have buffet on sundays (two sessions, 90mins each IIRC).

    • Is it all you can eat Buffet or like a Thali?

  • Thanks , sounds good. Will try soon.

  • +1

Is it possible to have 3 veg curries instead? If so, I'll try it.

    • +3

Yes you can, it's all you can eat. You can have 10 of them if you like.

      • +1

i dont think thats what he meant

        • +1

If you go on to the actual website, the numbering means there are 8 numbers of different dishes for you to eat from.

          https://hungryindian.com.au/

    • For a small indian restaurant, it seems extremely unlikely. They'll just have one in a bain marie.

  • 1 Lamb/Goat curry

Does this mean Lamb and Goat Curry, Lamb or Goat Curry, or a general indifference as to what ends up in the curry?
Ie is it possible to get the curry with no goat?

    • is it possible to get the curry with no goat?

      Why don't you like goats?

    • +2

It is either a lamb curry or a goat curry.

      • Thanks for the confirmation.

        • you're welcome!

Do you have a standard menu with price that you could share OP? Your website doesn’t have a menu and prices listed..

    • I'll get a photo of it.

  • +1

Yeh can you provide sample menu? eg what was on the buffet today!

  • +4

how can this be all you can eat when you're limited to what you can select?

    • yes, why, and why only 1 for each curry

      • It's $14.90, jessssus christ

        • It is misleading advertising though

        • Couldn't agree more, but your comment made no sense considering hippyhippy said the same thing so it made your point sound like you were complaining about another thing

    • +2

You're limited to what you can select in any all-you-can-eat buffet. They've just nominated here what will be in the buffet.

I would be impractical to allow unlimiting ordering of anything on the menu.

      • +1

So if chicken is available… You can eat 10 servings?

        • Yes.

  • -1

You wrote 1 for each curry; if i can finish 10 chicken curries, can I order 10 of them? Is that permitted?

    • +14

I don't understand why I'm being negged just because I'm fat.

    • +2

It's a buffet, so just keep taking more (but don't waste food).

  • -1

    HERE COME THE KLUMPS!!!

  • -6

    "Hungry Indian" sounds racist…

    • +8

Only to those that see racism in everything…

    • +4

      Sounds better than Starving Indian.

  • +6

Not sure if it's the kind of restaurant you'd take the missus for date night.

Why not? This is where you test them.

If she's still with you afterwards, she's a keeper.

    • +3

Why? Indian food is neither disgusting or unhealthy… Im sure this restaurant isnt a dump… Although I've never been here.

    • damn straight, its the afterwards that is the real test….

    • If you took her there at night you wouldn’t get the cheap lunch.
Does the deal mean I can arrive at 11-30am and sit there eating all I can until 3pm?

    • haha!! I meant nothing fancy :)

  • +3

Can you take left overs home in containers?

    • +10

You should be promoted to power user, wouldn't surprise me if the mods are talking about you right now.

    • If you order from the menu - yes. From the buffet - nope.

  • So how do we know when there is butter chicken?

    • Sunday afternoons they serve BC usually. But good to confirm by calling them.

  • Anyone know of an All You Can Eat Indian restaurant in Brisbane/Gold coast area? I LOVE butter chicken and have probably tried at least a couple dozen different restaurants over the years and the best one I've come across is Foodie India in Nerang. The butter chicken is soooo creamy and tasty! That's how I like it. Others may prefer it differently.

  • Hi OP, do you take AMEX?

    • +3

      ^ Spot the professional.

    • +1

      just MC and VISA :)

I'm not with the restaurant btw. I just happen to know the guy who owns the restaurant. And OB asks me to be listed as 'associated' with the restaurant ;)

[I don't get paid for posting this, sadly! - may be I can ask for a free lunch!]

      • No surcharge for cards?

        • +1

no surcharges. Once I paid $1.50 by card :P

  • Do they replace two meat curries with the veg curries for vegetarians by any chance, considering a lot of Indians are vegetarians?

    • -1

considering a lot of Indians are vegetarians?

Is this a restaurant only for Indians ?

      • of course not _/|_

    • goat simulator??

  • -8

just make sure it is not pet food.

    • +1

      What is wrong with you

  • It’s crap.
Done it once, will never be back again.

The only thing worse than the food was the service

Mod note: This turned out to be a different restuarant, not the restaurant for this deal, hence marked off-topic.

In classic ozbargainer style, I got the grandparents looking after the kids, to take my wife out for a romantic night of all-you-an-eat Indian.

Maybe my expectations were too high, as I had lived in Harris Park for 2.5 years prior.

The place stunk. I know all Indian restaurants smell, but this had a funk, which is based on heavy curtains, no air flow and general rot. (There was a separate foyer with doors if memory serves me correctly, so you don’t get a rush of fresh air entering when someone comes in).

Upon initial entry, our hopes went from dubious to being quite high. The place did look good, there were lots of staff, and there was a huge group party going on with Indians as part of the group. It seemed too good to be true.
“Large volumes of people are actually eating here by choice, and it’s only $13.90? Amazing”

But the all-you-can-eaters didn’t sit in the fancy part. We got pensioned off to a front room which was largely beige/white.
There were some people sitting there already, and we got seated at a small table. Some papadams were brought out, and then we waited… and waited … and waited.
It took so long for food to come, it was amusing.
    To begin with.
    Then it became annoying.
    Then it was insulting.

There was a lady with her ~10 year old daughter getting annoyed, as kids have a low tolerance when waiting for food.
We needed to eat as we were going to see a movie, and we started getting panicked about whether we would make the start.

They basically filled this uninspiring, bland front room up with people, then left us alone. One of those strange things where you think you are being filmed as a prank.

I like to think that they were just spending all their resources looking after the large party of people in the main restaurant area. It helps with my PTSD to think this wasn’t a poorly diguised attempt to get revenge on 200 years of British rule in India.

Some people left. My wife and I wanted to wait it out, as we tolerate a lot of crap. The lady with small child went in and complained. They begrudgingly got some food delivered.
Eventually food started coming in to the front room.

The mood went from Band of Brothers, to Lord of the Flies.
Those who received silver bowls of curry, were suddenly on edge, as they could be shived at any moment. Dying over a luke-warm madras is poetic, but about 4th or 5th on the list of things anyone expects to be written on their headstone.

The food was second choice cuts floating in gravy, and rice became a tradeable commodity within the room. Those who had been there before must have shelved handfuls of it before entering. Suddenly they were gods.

The wait-staff felt they had done enough to never enter the room again.

    I didn’t die, but I certainly didn’t live.

    3/5 stars.

Mod note: This turned out to be a different restuarant, not the restaurant for this deal, hence marked off-topic.

    • seriously… 3/5?? that review warranted 0/5… wtf? u really do have low expections.

good review. i know i wont be going here.

    • Yikes, that's alarming, and disappointing that it isn't a self service buffet table.

    • +1

Would love to hear OP’s response to that.

Word of mouth is free advertising but it could go the other way.

    • +1

Ummm I thought this was a buffet? Aren't you supposed get the food yourself off the buffet area instead of waiting for the staff to bring the food to you?

    • Hi seedyrom, I think you got this place mistaken for some other place. I've visited them a couple of times since they opened last year and never seen any curtains. Neither do they have multiple rooms or a foyer. Hence my description of 'may not be a date night kinda place' (for some people). They're just one long room actually.

Here's the link to some photos

And there's usually just one person serving in the front as they are not too busy and the buffet is self served. All the dishes are placed in a table in the front except for the breads which are freshly made and served.

From your description, I think you are talking about the other Indian restaurant [Mantra] 2 doors away. [Just guessing!] But they closed down a couple months ago.

      • +2

        Eeeep!

        You are 100% correct.
It WAS the Mantra restaurant two doors down which I “dined” at.

        My sincere apologies.

        • haha :D no worries good sir!

        • +1

Shame on you. Shouldn't you first verify your info before destroying someone's reputation.
Your review is still here, I may had skipped your hidden apology

          • @BuyIfNeed:

            Your review is still here

I agree, seedyrom went all these length to write what was not even relevant. What a world we live in…. people just too eager to complain!

    • Haha, enjoyed reading your write-up.

You should be our resident ozbargain restaurant reviewer!

    • Please read his/her apology at bottom
