  • 25% is nothing to shrug at, but a lot of these discounted prices are still higher than Fantastic Furniture or even the home section in K-Mart

    • +14

Then is comes down the build quality, I'm sure K-Mart has the lowest build quality.

      • Looked at some stools at Kmart. 90kg max load. Definitely not suitable for half of my mates, even the well proportioned ones.

        No wonder they were $29.

        • Know of any stools rated higher? They're meant to be sat on, not used as podiums…

        • I'd say the Shol furniture line at Aldi is the worst but at least they have a good returns policy.

        • +1

          You referring to these stools?

If so then my wife and I had the same concerns but after a while we decided to just take the risk anyway. Glad we did. I'm a tad over 90kg and they're fine for me to even stand on and wiggle around. Sure, they're of a very lightweight construction and do twist & flex under silly loads such as that test but for normal seated use they're pretty much rock solid. Their light weight makes them super easy to move around too which is a bonus as we were also looking at some cast metal base stools at the other end of the budget spectrum which would've become very annoying due to their massive weight.

So yeah, for basic, minimalist 'fast fashion' stools I reckon the K-Mart ones are pretty good… and at $25 they're insanely good value for money.

@SteveAndBelle: Yeah those ones, even cheaper than I remembered haha. I have looked at them in store and the quality doesn't seem that bad but still doesn't inspire much confidence. Plus I've got 6ft+ friends over 120kg so we decided to go for something more sturdy! and when only buying 3x it didn't break the budget.

I do feel like weight ratings are often well understated just to be safe.

          • @SteveAndBelle: Is the second photo of it next to the window for the naughty corner or where you stick your elderly relative to stare out the window all day?

      • +7

I'm sure K-Mart has the lowest build quality.

No, that's Fantastic Furniture, absolute junk.

    • +8

I've bought plenty from Amart and it's all been pretty abysmal quality

      • +1, I bought a bed frame, a TV cabinet and 6 dining chairs from them. Wouldn't do so again as they all needed replacing in a very short time frame with only moderate use, I will add that it was all the cheapest stuff when I was 18-20 though, so 10+ years ago so I know now that the short lifespan is somewhat expected, my sister has an Amart table that seems pretty solid but it had a fairly hefty price tag.

      • 100% agree. they have the worst quality and also customer service. long story for my case…..

        • Also seem to have Harvey Normal style sales sharks now too.

    • +1

Amart is better quality than Fantastic Furniture. Like Fantastic is at the bottom, Amart is just below the middle I would say.

      • Have to agree with this. We bought a couch from fantastic, which seperates into 2 pieces. Well, when connected, the pieces didn't line up. The back of the couch stuck out at the connection point, if you lay across it, you could feel the difference in height. This was plain as day as soon as we put it together, so to me, that was telling of fantastics quality control.

On the other hand, I have a dining suite, bedroom suite and hall table from amart, and were relatively cheap from memory. All are holding up well after 3-4 years.

        • Yep basically us. We have dining set from Amart has got us to 4-5 years use, surviving small kids and everything. Just outgrowing it really now but otherwise OK.

I had a quick look at Amart still a bit of MDF and stuff though, not really what I'd want these days but if starting out Amart is going to last you until you have better tastes lol.

Good deal on some of the cheaper stuff that doesn't go on special often. Cheers OP.

  • Minimum spend $750

    • +1

I believe that is only for the 5 years interest free, not the 25% discount.

      • Yep for interest free by the looks of it

        • Ah great, thanks for letting me know.

      • +4

Super Amart Calling it interest free is just plain lies. Looked at a recliner at 1700 with sale. Comes to a total of 2100 over 5 years using the supposed interest fee option. $99 per year fee isn't interest fee. Should be bent over by the ACC for false advertising.

        • Good point. I thought it was a requirement to post a comparison rate. Possibly not for this specific situation.

    • Macquarie Bank also have Amart gift cards with no credit card fee

  • Looking to buy new outdoor lounge on my balcony.

Any idea how is the quality ? Compared to IKEA / Freedom / HN / Domayne etc ?

    Still haven't decided yet.

    • -3

The burgers are better at Hungry Jack's.

    • +2

They're hit and miss. I feel like they've tried to shake off their cheap and nasty image, by changing up the range and increasing the prices. Some of the stuff is fairly solid for what you pay but they also still have some junk.

    • +2

Some of it is quite good, some not so good. You need to check/test it.

      • See if it's veneer (strips on mdf) or solid - obviously preference for the latter.
      • Acacia plantation wood is likely from good origins.

Definitely don't expect as good quality compared to some of the more pricey boutique stores - and while HN/Domayne sell some great stuff, they too have some really questionable quality products.

  • recently bought a lounge room and bedroom suite from Amart.
safe to say that the quality is disappointing, multiple items were delivered with damages and their stuff also get dented fairly easily.
whilst Amart offered compensation or exchange, the process has not been exactly customer friendly.

nonetheless, it is one of the more affordable brand out there, just don't expect to get what you paid for.

  • My clearance $699 Elijah Corner Lounge has been fantastic. Pretty comfy and great price.

There was some run around where they couldn't find the furniture I bought, but they eventually found it a week later and provided free delivery.

Make sure you go in store to try whatever you are buying as quality can vary

  • Everything I'm looking at online says "Currently unavailable"?!

  • I'm currently looking for a new bedroom suite and the prices with the discount look good.
Is it definitely a no no quality wise?

    • +1

dont buy anything from them. check the review on google. see how many complaint from the customers

    • Iv'e spent about 5k when I bought my house and the quality was shocking my couch has been repaired 3 times and the bed frame is a disaster as all the metal welds have come apart that holds the mattress.

      • Thanks both. I'll avoid.
        Any recommendations?

        • +1

          Focus On Furniture.

        • +2

I don’t think the above is very fair. As others on this post have pointed out, some items are abysmal, others are good and solid. It just depends on what you buy, you do get what you pay for at Amart. I purchased some items from their higher priced range (dining suite, couches, entertainment unit etc) and have had no issues at all. Everything very sturdy, nothing like the crap you get at Fantastic Furniture. It is really worth going in and looking at the specific items you’re interested in. If you choose to buy the least expensive items in the range then the quality is going to reflect that.

    • We've had some good purchases from them.
As others have suggested, don't but online without checking stuff out in store. They have a real mix of qualities. Take a careful look to see how well things are finished, whether the fabrics feel strong or thin and flimsy. If you take the time to buy wisely, you can get some good value and decent quality for the money.

      • Haha and now I'm torn!

  • I also had a lounge from Super Amart, it was a very good price and value for money. Good entry level furniture shop compared to the likes of Fantastic Furniture etc.

  • Can anyone advise how does the quality of Amart stack up against Focus On furniture?

    • +2

Focus' is quality stuff. It's the best value for money in my opinion.

We have purchased kids bunk bed and sofa sets ($800 for 3+2) from FoF and they are solid.

  • Good Deal

  • +1

I've found that Pinediscount has better quality and most of it is already assembled. Bought a dining set, buffet, coffee table and side tables and all were solid heavy timber. Price was slightly higher than Ikea

Haven't bought any couches recently though

  • Don't think its a good deal. Amart's price to quality ratio is bad. Better of with Ikea.

  • Who own Amart…. with their products qualities and styles I can only predict how long they going to survive? Went ti their store once… i think and really walked out within minutes

    • They’ve been around for as long as I can remember. Usually filled on weekends with new families looking to fill their houses with cheap and nasty furniture.

      Amart aren’t going anywhere.

    • It has it's market and you can get a good deal - some of their stuff is fairly decent. I found it much cheaper than Ikea, and a bit cheaper than Fantastic Furniture for certain things. The stores are usually busy on the weekends.

  • I bought a lounge last year and their customer service was pretty good. We bought a three piece sofa but we couldn't fit in the third one. They were happy to take it back (free delivery) and refund the price on it.

  • Any decent office chairs from these jokers?

  • These chairs are stable and comfy, better than similar products at IKEA

    https://www.amartfurniture.com.au/funk-53991/

  • Looking for a small tv stand for a 75 inch tv.. any good bargains to be had here honestly any will do.. otherwise it is just gonna be on the floor

    • Check out Gumtree and eBay. There's almost always a heap of tv stands going cheap (or sometimes free) due to people moving, upgrading etc. Also, try asking on some local Facebook groups.

      • That is my current go-to
