this is also available on jbcommercial if your work gives you access to that for $390

    • Can you get me a pair?

    • thanks! just purchased through the portal, what a bargain!

    • It's coming up $353 for me. But I can't pay using my Westfield gift cards bugger.

      • Yeah, i bought it for $353.73..was expecting for it to be at that price by december before!

    • +1

Thanks so much. Just bought it from JB Commerical! They are offering me 353.73 and I can do TRS soon as well. Was waiting for Harvey Norman to stock it and use my two Amex cards. This is just way better!

      • I wish i can claim the trs as well. Oh well

        • I'm flying 16 Dec which means I need to wait 2 weeks to purchase. Worth it to save another $35?

      • Harvey Norman hasit on their website for $500. Doesn't seem like they have stock in store yet. At that price, even if you use two AMEX cashbacks, I think the JB offer is much better. If you price match a lower price, then you'd only be able to use one cashback deal since it's spend $250 get $25 back

    • +3

Weird - comes up at $380.15 for me.

Perhaps JB Commercial has different deals with different employers.

      • +1

Yes. Confirmed they offer different pricing depending on the deal they have with the employer.

    • So not any organisation can sign up?

      • It is employee benefit offered by your employer.

    • Coming up $380 for me. :(

    • It's showing as $353 for me?
I don't need them but am tempted now.

      • -6

I'd like to buy one and would really appreciate if you could hook me up with these. This discount would be awesome more so because I'm a student.

        • -1

what about buying two for $ 400 each? PM me mate.

    • If anyone could get me a pair @$353 I’d appreciate it!

    • Thanks for the heads up! Just sold my Harvey Norman mx2 got back in February. Wasn’t thinking of getting but tempted in the end…

      • +1

How much did you sell it for? I sold the one I got in February ($312) on fb marketplace for $300 last week. Not too bad lol

        • +1

Still brand new so close to $400…

    • Thanks for the tip. Got it for $353 and will do TRS next month. Not a bad price for something just released.

  • Do any of these high end noise cancelling headphones have removable batteries?

    • As far as I can see for this model, there's no battery port that can be opened by the end user.

    • +3

      Yes, The B&O H9/i does.

      • +3

The Parrot Zik 3 does as well. However I have a pair of QC35s which are at least 3 years old now and they still last 20+ hours on a charge no problems. I think battery degradation is a bit of a lower risk issue with headphones (although still frustrating that it's not user-serviceable in most models).

    • +1

The xm2 kind of does. iFixit has a user-generated doco on how to do it. No sure about this model.

    • +1

Why would you need removable batteries? These well easily last you a week before you need to charge

      • Battery will not retain much charge after a few years.

        • They will last for at least 4 years for the average user, by which time they will be obsolete landfill anyway

  • +3

Bought this yesterday from Addicted to Audio's online store for $448 using the code 'QFF'. Got it today and charging now.

    Really good price at $425.60.

    • +1

Is the retail price higher than XM2 was when it released?

Becuase those were regularly going on sale for $350 or under. When $425 is considered a really good price, then there is price creep going on. Next gen will be even more expensive.

  • +3

I had a 10% off code sitting there (think it was probably a targeted promo from a while ago). Pretty stoked to get them for $403.20!

  • Tried these out in jb hifi today. Very very nice. They are a catalogue item for $448 until 18th October.

    • Which JbHiFi? I went to the Melbourne central one and they said they have these in stock but not for display.

    • Did you compare it with the XM2 and the Bose QC3?
Is it more comfortable than the QC3 now?

      • I tried it at JB-HIFI North Sydney yesterday and confirm it is comfier than previous gen and compared ANC with Plantronics Black Beats Pro2, it was way better and very easy on the head, will grab on next 10% sitewide deal.

  • +2

Price match at HN + Amex deal = $375

    • You are so nice!

    • How to match the price with ebay seller?

    • How do you get HN to match the 5% off code? The most they will pricematch is the JB Hifi catalogue price of 448

      • +2

Ok admittedly I couldn't get them to price match it online.

Try in store. Their cost price is $272 so you can also use that as another bargaining chip

        • Lol no way their cost is 272, I got mine at cost from JB and they were 240 so surely HN wouldnt pay 30 more per set

          • @bloobat: Just going off what it said on their screen at HN…

            • +1

@nexus4: The cost price shown in HN's POS system includes Gerry's cut among other admin fees. It's not the strict dollar value as paid to the supplier.

              • +3

@omgitzrick: Geez if their cost price is in the mid-200s i struggle to justify in my mind buying these at a $150 margin for the retailer…

          • +1

@bloobat: how you can get something at cost ? so you bought for $240 only for this headphone?

    • If someone has a product care plan from Harvey Norman (even if it's unozbarganish to buy one) you can get a 20% discount on the price, essentially bringing down the cost to $350 using the Amex promo..

      • How do I get this discount based on product care plan ? Contacted customer care and they didn't know.what document do I need to do this online ?
Will they price match first and then offer this 20% discount on top of it ?

        • When we bought a laptop with a product care plan we got a brochure with coupons for different offers. One was the 20% off from headphones. Here's the link to the information on Harvey Norman website. But I doubt they'll offer the discount on top of the price match. But no harm in trying.
          https://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/product-car…

    • +1

Great idea. Even if you can only get the jbhifi pricematch, it'll still come to $398 after amex cashback

    • Which store in Melb?

  • +1

Time to use eBay Gift card and 1% cashback!

  • +1

I tried it at the airport, compared the the first model, sound quality, noise cancelling quality are sooo much better. And it's more comfy as well!

    Will upgrade!

    • What airport?

  • Absolutely love mine so far!

  • Is it definitely better than QC35 ii??

    • +1

It's definitely better than 1000XM2. And to some people, that was better than QC35.

Worth mentioning that Microsoft just revealed they're throwing their hat in the ring too with a same priced Surface Headphones.

  • Are these better than the Bose QC35 II many people got from this deal?- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/404345

    • Haven't tried them but generally I think the consensus is Yes.

    • +1

This guy did an ANC test and measured the dBs. He hasn't compared them to QC35 yet, but when someone asked how XM3's ANC compares to QC35, he has compared the QC35 with XM2 in the past and had this to say:

We are about to, just give us time. A lot to do. However, we did check the QC35 vs WH-1000XM2, and found the Sonys had a 3 dB lower noise floor than the QC35. Meaning the M3's are far superior to the QC35. We can testament to that also in practice. The Boses introduce audible noise when NC is turned on. The self-generated noise in the Sony M3 headphones is almost non existent. By far the best we've ever heard.

      • Sound quality is excellent. In terms of comfort and fit, it's absolutely excellent.

I'd pick this over the QC35/QC35 IIs any day.

        • I'm an XM2 owner. I'm tempted to get this, but hoping people convince me otherwise. Ideally I'd like to wait for XM4 before getting another pair. This is a substantial upgrade over XM2. Hopefully XM4 will be just as big an upgrade.

        • Ive decided the bass on the xm3 overpowers the mids and treble, some tracks actually sound muddy in the bass area. Going to sell the xm3 and keep the QC35II. Not sure about the B&W PX but probably going to sell those as well.

  • Anyone with an idea on how to access JB commercial?

    • +1

Find a friend who works somewhere that provide staff this access.

    • edit: deleted

  • Sorry for the annoying but obvious question… How do these compare to the Bose QC35?
Are there any good reviews, yes I will Google it but I wonder if there is an OzBargain user consensus?

    • +1

These were only just released, so I don't think there's enough owners here yet. A lot of people here do own the QC35's though, and while they're great, all of the reviews and forum banter indicate the Sony's are superior in every way.

    • +2

I own pretty much all the best ANC headphones.
The QC35ii are still better in the following ways: still the most comfy ANC headphones, can pair 2 devices simultaneously, build quality seems more robust than the 1000XM3 (really not so impressed with the faux style leather in the headband). Haven't tested in call quality yet but the QC35ii are still the best I've come across for calls.

      • +1

I've found the QC35ii horrible for phone calls but brilliant in every other aspect, the microphone on it picks up every minute sound around when in use, whoever I'm talking to can usually often conversations near me clearer than my own voice.

      • The faux leather is gone in XM3. Are you sure you're not talking about XM2?

        • Not the leather on the outside cups, I'm talking about on the headband

      • Sorry I'd have to disagree here.

I've played around with the QC35s, QC-35 IIs and the XM3s (a number of folk at work got the $353 deal at JBCommercial). I'd say that the comfort and fit of the XM3 is far superior to that of the QC-35s (the original and II). It's almost at par with my Beyerdynamic DT770.

    • +2

General consensus is that Noise Cancelling is definitely better, sound quality is considered better by most, whilst comfort is a pretty close call, unlike previously where the Bose had the edge.

    • +1

General consensus: Last gen xm2's vs Bose QC35ii was a close match - bose for noise cancelling and comfort, Sony for sound quality. This gen Sony improves on both the relative weaknesses. Its lighter and more comfortable (though subjectively bose might be still more comfortable), has surpassed bose noise cancelling and still sounds streets better than the bose. So overall the new Sony wins for most people.

Its still hot off the press so the price will probably fall further if you have no need to buy now. Christmas I'd guess you'll see it for $350 or maybe even less

    • +4

Check out the reviews from JimsReviewRoom. He is by far the best headphone reviewer out there.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzCCMQ0rkM8
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8qMYKNutb4

      • Hi Jim.

        • Make sure to say 'hi' to his brother Jack next time you get on a plane.

  • +1

Bought One as most reviews said it is better then QC35II for phone calls and Quality of the sound in general. And the Codec is better than QC. Use JB Commercial Paid $363 delivered.

    • How come it shows $380 when I try JB commercial?

      • Different employer, different price.

  • +1

Does addicted to audio ship items with a tax invoice (for TRS purposes)?

    • +1

you can request for an invoice, they didn't send a paper one with my order.

    • Same as @flipden, my order didn't have an invoice enclosed but they emailed me as soon as the order has been confirmed. You can ask them to email you a pdf version of the tax invoice, which shows their abn and the gst you've paid.

  • Would have been nice if they included AptX-LL in this release. Still waiting for a pair of these high end ANC headphones to have low latency codecs so I can watch TV with them too.

  • Anyone tried these on and found comfort issues? My eartips scrape the inside cups and feels not so good for a premium product.

    • +2

      Cheers bigears.

    • +1

Had mine for over a week now.

First week was amazing, but now after heavy usage i'm finding that my ears do get really hot and my ears, which aren't even big, scraping the inside cup is starting to bother me. I have to keep adjusting after a couple of minutes. For me its the way these cups are angled.

Pity its not like the USA where we can just return it to the store. But these are good cans and i will hang onto them for the meanwhile, but when Bose finally release a newer QC version i'll look into it closely, as i don't like the sound from the QC35IIs at all.

      • Most over ear headphones will feel hot under the ear after long use.
I haven’t found one that doesn’t feel hot under the ears unfortunately.
QC35II are probably the best so far for this department.

        • Agree the ones that aren't hot probably people will complain, why the sound is leaking so much…

      • +1

Likewise, I've had mine for about 5 days.

I had the same issue but for me it was due to the uneven application of foam on the left ear pad, which made it never sit right. The right one was ok.

I've stuffed a bit of foam inside and behind the left ear pad to prop it out a bit more and it's much better comfort wise. It now feels like the right one.

        See here:
        https://imgur.com/a/kVZBJ2e

Other than that, these cans are great! Way better sound quality over bluetooth than the QC35s they're replacing.

        • That's interesting! It is definitely the left one that is a bother, the right cup is fine majority of the time. I'll give that a go!

        • Looks like a defect you should have asked them for a replacement ear pads.

      • Leather and plastic both get pretty hot, I don't know why they haven't invented something a bit more breathable with minimum sound leakage…
This is why I always prefer IEM over over ears.

  • I can get them for $383 through my companies perks program

    • Start selling to us…

  • +1

Since jb commercial is selling this for $353 and their cost is $240, its worthwhile to ask jbhifi to sell it for $353.
