Belong $25 Starter Kit: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/belong-25-…

Please note:

  • The $40 Belong Starter Pack will provide you with 15GB of data upon activation, as per its "Large Plan". You will be credited with an additional 15GB on your first billing date ie. 15GB on activation + 15GB on your first billing date. (The initial billing date uses the credit inherent in the starter pack, so you don't need to pay anything in addition.)

  • Initial billing dates are every eighth day (4th, 12th, 20th, 28th of the month). So, for example, if you buy and activate today (19th October), tomorrow you will get an additional 15GB (total = 30GB). ** NOTE: It is best to delay your activation until shortly after one of these billing dates**

  • After that first billing is transacted, you can then migrate down to the 1GB, $10/month "Small Plan" and bank your 30GB of data for future use. The unused data continues to get rolled over.

  • All Belong Mobile plans include unlimited standard national calls, SMS and MMS (includes 13, 1300 & 1800 numbers)

PS: Don't forget to use a referral code to get an extra $20 credited to your account, and also to the account of the referrer. (Limit of 10 Referrals per account.)

  • This is great, thanks OP. Any idea on how long we can delay the activation if the sim is bought today? I am now on the $15 3-month Kogan plan till mid Dec.

    • 12 months from the date of purchased.

    • There will be no problem for a mid-December activation, I waited around 3 months between purchase and activation and there wasn't an issue. Don't forget to put in a referral for your $20 credit!

  • Just wondering can I port my own existing number with this kit. If buy online i think there is an option to keep existing number. Thanks in advance

      no.

      Yes you can.
I have done this 3 times.
One for my dad, one for my mum and one for my grandma

Note that though these are termed "starter" kits - they are actually credits when you create account. So you don't have to go on $40 plan if you don't need. For example if you go on $10 plan then the $40 kit will last you 4 months (plus 2 months additional if you used referral code).

  • so the initial $40 or $25 will only last for one month, then you need to pay at least $10 per month, is that the case?
or you can choose the $10/month when activate, thus $40 will last you 4 months?

seems that my question answered above by bajirao

    • Yes, you can activate the $10 p/m plan on sign up, so you will get four months credit. Also, don't forget to get a referral link and get an extra $20 credit, which will give you an additional two months on the $10 plan.

    • It is better value to activate it as $40/month and then change, if you use more than 1GB a month. Only activate it as $10/month if you definitely never exceed 1GB.

  • What about the bonus data though if I activated $10 per month?

    • As per bajirao's post above, if you buy a $40 starter kit and activate it on the $10/month plan, then you will effectively have four months of mobile access paid for (4 months x $10 per month) using your credit, for which you have paid $20.

Your bonus data at activation will be 1GB, plus 1GB on your first billing date. If you use a referral code, you will get another two months free.

    Hello SIM professionals…

So my understanding from this topic (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/402761), this comment within (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6361549/redir) and this reply in particular (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/6450551/redir), without reading any terms and conditions, is that if you want to mainimise payment and maximise data you need to perform the following to receive the full benefits of Belong's offerings:

    A. If you don't need much data:
    1. Get a free SIM from https://www.belong.com.au/mobile/get-sim and sign-up using a referral credit of $20 on the $10 plan.
    2. Do this 10 more times by referring yourself to get $200 of credit to last you 20 months.
    3. If you need more data you just get another new SIM referred by a secondary SIM and sign up to a $20 plan on both to get 5 GB of data with each, that you transfer back to your primary account. This can be repeated ad infinitum if you actually do need a lot of data, but may be slow at 5 GB at a time.
    4. If the referral promo is still there in 20 months, port out and do this indefinitely and never pay for a mobile plan again.

    B. If you need a lot of data:
    1. Buy a $40 SIM for $20 and as many you think you will need over the next year or so in case the promo runs out. You predict Kogan will keep on delivering cheap one-off SIMs so you might go conservative.
    2. Get free SIMs to reach your 10 referrals quota from the step above, if less than 11 $40 SIMs are purchased, to get 20 months of a free mobile plan. You hope that 20 months should see data provisions increase or you play the market of the future.
    3. Once your referrals run out, use free SIMs to get 5GB x 2 as necessary by using a chain of referrals.

    • looks like you actually get 20 months free in Option A?

      • Yeah. Or I suppose 2 + 20 (so 22). That's quite surprising since if you only wanted the cheapest long-term plan you could churn this out in a month with 10 support requests to cancel those 10 extra post-paid plans.

  • Just went & picked up 2 of these.

Cheers all for the great deal & ideas.

  • Guys, I don't currently have a Belong account/sim.

If my aim is to get on the $10/month plan with as much data as possible, how would you go about this?

Just buy multiple $40 kit for $20 each? Or buy 1 $25 kit for $10 as the primary sim, then buy a few more $40 kit for data topup???

    • People like me sell data for $1 per GB at classifieds.

    • See peterpeterpumpkin's response above for a good answer.

  • +1

Thanks Charlie Don't Surf and peterpeterpumpkin. Will take this opportunity to test out Belong. Quick clarification…isn't it better to activate just BEFORE one of the initial billing dates to get the bonus data earlier?
Edit: Just found a whirlpool page that explains why it is better to activate just AFTER one of the billing dates Whirlpool. Thanks again guys :-).

  • Just saw "24 hrs Activation apply" red stickers on the $25 and $40 Belong starter kits in Auspost store??

    • I remember seeing this at Post Office too. If I recall correctly, it means/says to WAIT twenty-four hours before activation. Strange.

      • Does that mean when you buy the card from a post office, the process of buying it doesn't automatically activate the credit on card?
That's what I"m thinking. Instead verified? & batch sent once a day??
I"M just making stuff up, trying to get a logical grasp on such a sticker

        • The credit in the pack is activated when you acticate the service ie. complete sign-up and activate the SIM.

If you want complete peace of mind, buy your starter pack from OW or Coles, where I haven't seen that sticker.

I don't have an explanation why the stock at the Post Office has them.

          • @Charlie Dont Surf: Sure but I"ll give you an example of what I mean, if you steal a $25 sim from coles, when you go to activate the sim it won't contain any credit. The supermarket has to activate the credit on sale, and immediately the card contains $25 credit. They must not do the instantaneous activation at post offices for some reason.

            • @bobvegas: You are right. Just check with Auspost staff, said we need to wait 24hrs before attempting to activate the sim card.

  • i can still Transfer the data to a 2nd sim right ?

    • No limit who the data goes to.

  • I finally got on this train. Bought two $40 sims, activated one as my main with a referral code from ozB and ported across in about 10 minutes which was awesome.

Then used my referral code from my main to activate second sim and have gifted its data to my main. Billing date in 2 days means I should get an extra 15gb on each Sim, so a total of 60gb for my main account. And then have $20 credit still left on each sim card resulting in an extra couple of GB and access. So something like 64GB of Data and 3 months access for $40 outlay.

    Awesome value!

    • Shouldn't you have $40 credit on your main sim and $20 on your second sim? ($20 each to referrer And referree?)

      • You are correct, I goofed - an even better deal then!

        • :-)! Could you use the $40 credit on your main sim to get another 15Gb?

          • +1

@slowFTL: Yeah definitely could, but I think I'll just use it for an extra 2 months at $10 a month now that I've got my 60gb banked as I'm generally not a big data user.

There's also data for sale at $1/GB in the classifieds and/or future $20 sim promos I'm sure!

            • +2

@tellhimhesdreaming: Absolutely! I have yet to activate my Belong sim…have to get thru a few Catchconnect, Kogan etc sims first lol! Too many to juggle with all the good deals floating around lol!

  • $25 Starter Kit is back to $12.50.

Does anyone know how long these prices will be available at Officeworks?

    • This promo seems to come and go, I bought my pack back in July on a similar offer. You don't need to activate it immediately, so you can always buy it now and hold onto it. I'd be surprised if it ever goes below $20.

    • order online for local pickup.

    Hi All,

I am planning to buy the $40 half price Sim from officeworks.just wondering if the bonus 15gb is still available.

Also, if I buy the Sim from Officeworks, would I still be able to get referral bonus? And how do I get it?

    • Yes, 15GB bonus is still available.

  • +1

Wondering same is 15gig bonus still avail?

  • How long does it usually take for the referral credit to show up?
Did it three days ago but it's still not showing up anywhere except in history…

    • Normally it's instant, the refferal credit is credited as soon as you enter the referral code and finish the transaction.

  • The link https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/belong-40-… is at $40 as of now, not $20.

    Am I missing something?
