Microsoft Office 2019 now available under the Microsoft's Home Use Program (Similar deal as prior Office version releases). Requires eligible work email that participates in the home use program.

Users are only permitted to purchase 1 copy of each available 2019 product.

Reminder: Existing Office 365 Subscribers should be able to upgrade to the latest version for the life of their subscription & the same should apply to those using Office 365 for Education. You may be also eligible for free educational versions of Office 2019 applications via Microsoft's OnTheHub Program.

Instructions (Actual steps may vary) (Credit to cruzeroo7 @ HUD):

  1. Enter work email address
  2. You’ll receive an email back to either confirm eligibility or otherwise
  3. If eligible, you’ll be invited to make payment
  4. Once payment is confirmed, you’ll receive a further email with a code and an install link.
  5. Forward this email to your personal email address
  6. Open email on personal computer and click on “install” link
  7. Enter code if requested

About the Home Use Program:

The Home Use Program is a Software Assurance benefit available to Microsoft volume licensing customers with active Software Assurance coverage on their Office applications. Employees who use the covered licenses at work are eligible to purchase these Office applications for use on a personal device during the term of their employment.

Eligible employees are allowed to purchase a single license of each product available according to the terms of their organization’s Software Assurance benefit.

If you are not sure if your organization is eligible, contact your Software Assurance benefits administrator.

      No you never have to extend.
      It lasts as long as you don't uninstall it.

        Interesting; so this doesn't work like Windows where you can reformat and reinstall as many times? or is this no longer how it works with Microsoft product these days? So once uninstall, if we're going to reinstall, we can't use the same serial number or whatever number we get when we purchased?

          Supposed to be able to, but you may need to call them up because the activation is an online process, means it needs to check the amount of activations it has.
          2016 had 2 per key, unsure for 2019.

    FYI if your work provides a Office 365 plan that includes the Office applications you have 5x installations can use. You could just login at portal.office.com with your work login and install at home. You may need to confirm with your works IT that this would be OK.

        I don't know about Mac but windows 10 only. So does not work on older windows. Extract below from Microsoft website.

    I switched to the $99 Office 365 so on whatever device I can have Office for myself and wife. Kids will get one when they are older. Got stuck with HUP only being able to be installed on one computer when we have three and three devices. Plus the OneDrive features are great especially when sharing documents.

    Fun Fact: My work email didn't work and was asking for a code, which I don't have (and is not available yet).

    Good thing I applied for the 2016 version last month and decided to hold off to see if 2019 would come to HUP, went to a follow up email Microsoft sent about my '16 purchase last week, clicking on the link took me to the 2019 page and I went through checkout no problems.

    Does this make me a hacker?

      Of course if you want to install on a Mac + PC, or two PCs, then you can buy both the "Office Professional Plus 2019" and "Office Home and Business 2019" packages. They will have separate license codes, and you can install into separate computers.

    How do I purchase the Standalone Office 2019 ? I don not want to download Office 365

    I only get the following message:

    Office Professional Plus 2019 is no where to be seen
