  • Pity no sale on the Surface Book. The Book is a better product IMO with detachable screen, card slot, pen and higher resolution (3000 x 2000).
Downside is that it is 6th gen CPU on the Book versus 7th gen on the Laptop.

The surface book is a POS. I've got one during the last sale (i7, 8gig ram, 256ssd). I've had numerous replacements within a period of 6mths. The first 2 had keyboard issues, 3rd had and expanding battery issue and the 4th replacement had scratches on the back and 2 cracks on the outside of the screen. Ive had dell n hp laptops in the past n have never had as many issues. Really regret buying the surfacebook.

      • I got the same laptop from MS during the last eBay sale for around $1400.
It is still working great for me with no issues at all.
        Guess you were unlucky?

      • Sounds like yours was a lemon.

        • Yup 4 different lemons in 6mths

          • @BlitzR: That’s a lot of lemon.
Guess MS doesn’t practice six sigma.

          • +1

@BlitzR: Sorry you had a bad experience. My SB1 was buggy, but my SB2 has been utterly flawless. And I beat the hell out of it, still looks like new 10 months roughly later.

            • @gavincato: Yeah it's been very disappointing having the SB1. One more issue and I'll cut my loss, by getting it replaced under warranty then selling it. Back to the good ol Dell Latitude

Who would want to buy 13 laptops?

    • -1

People who don't want to lug around heavy 15.6" laptops all day?

    • It's called portability. I'd rather a 13in laptop over a 15 or 17in.

    • You will find people have 15 inches laptop still want a 13 (like me). If you travel and need a laptop, then 13 is the go

I think they were jokingly referring to the title:
20% off 13x Microsoft Surface Laptops @ Microsoft eBay

        • +6

thank you. Finally someone got the joke 😂

    • +5

When 12 laptops just doesn't cut it, and 14 would just be ridiculous.

    • +1

Amazing that no one got your comment. I'm still scratching my head at the OP's title.

  • Not on the microsoft surface go? 😞

  • I can't use the code? it says this code cant be applied to your order

    • It works ok here…

You must be an eBay.com.au registered member … Do you have an Aussie account registered to an Aussie address?

      • yes I do. I logged in too. don't know why. I see all of them except 1 already have discount from 15 to 25%. Is that why?

  • Does Windows10 take up much of the 128gb ssd ?
Is there much storage space left free ofter the OS is installed?

    • Windows 10 uses about 20-35GB in my experience.

  • These aren't the Surface Laptop 2, are they ?

    • +1

      no

  • I see this one as 25% off at AU $1,836.75 and I cannot use the code. why can't I use the code. is that the way or something wrong here?

Crazy deal. Amazing. If I didn't have a Pro 5, I'd have grabbed the base model in a heart beat here.

  • +3

By the way on the 7gen vs 8 gen processor the older one actually has higher turbo clock so in single threaded applications it isn’t slower. If you use multi core app eg photoshop or video editing or 3D design then multi core scores are better. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I understand. Power usage and heat differences are also in favour of the 7th gen. Cheers

  • Help me out here fellas - what colour is the go? Burgundy or blue? Cheers

    • Dirt and grease build up tend to be yellowish and will be less obvious on burgundy.

I will go with burgundy for this reason alone.

  • +2

    Thanks TA.

Bought the base model for under $800 - great deal.

  • -4

    old model no deal

  • Horrible specs and build quality IMO
Look at the Lenovo Yoga 920 4k
Great build quality and specs for much cheaper

    • +1

Why is the build quality horrible?

    • Lenovo yoga 920 has known buggy motherboard and battery drain and overheat issues as well as multiple defective units. Does not compare QC wise, not in the same league.

      • Yeah I saw quite a few Lenovo yoga broke down and not Surface.

      • Been using for 3 weeks and it bloody awesome.. non of the issues you state

    • Lenovo yoga 920 is over $2200.

  • I am blown away by the speed of the 8gb 7200u.

It's only supposed to be 14% faster than my xiaomi air's 6200u. Maybe the xiaomi has buggy drivers or maybe its the synaptics touchpad… But my god the surface laptop just feels SO much better.

The felt material also feels very natural. I don't care at all for metal anymore.

It only has 1 usb port. The only way I justified getting it is that I was lucky to get a mint condition used one for $750. Definitely worth it at $750 of course…

At these prices? well….. 4GB just plain is not enough ram, it just isn't. And 16GB ram is probably too much overkill for a dualcore. The 8GB for $1359?…. ehhhhhh. No.. god no. not when you can get the 8th gen version for $1498 from jb hifi.

No deal imho, sadly. Even though the build quality just simply has to be the best in any windows laptop.

  • Just because it's on discount doesn't mean you have to buy it. Microsoft Surface laptops are pretty trash, there are much better Windows laptops you can get. The Surfaces are extremely overpriced and under-specced. It's like the Macbook of the Windows world.

In my opinion, if you don't need to play games, the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 series is the best. Matte black finish, AMAZING keyboard, solid performance, incredible battery.

    • The surface are incredibly thin and portable.
Not sure how the X1 compares in terms of thickness and weight?

  • The i7 is a much better deal.
I7 else where is a lot more expensive.
    Around $1800 at JB.

While the i5 version laptop 2 is around $1498. So you don’t save much. Considering it’s an older model.
And the laptop 2 i7 model is even more expensive.

eBay deals works out even better if you have discounted gift cards and can TRS or salary sacrifice.

  • Screen is gorgeous, can make do with the specs and price also, what I can't stand is the keyboard fabric! Have you seen how disgusting it looks after a few months of use? Eww…. seriously… idiots at MS, they didn't even learned their lesson and did it again for the new range :/

    • That's something I wasn't aware of…. Food for Thoguht

      • Food for keyboard.

  • TA why the code doesn't work for me? It says this code can't be applied to your order.
