Thanks guys.. probably wait for the sale then..

Just an FYI we have ONLY a couple of hundred sims remaining for $1 using KOGAN1 promo code on Groupon.
Campaign is ending end of today (1/11/2018) and yes this offer will be OVER so get in fast!

  • +2

Anyone received their sim yet? Kogan I've got the sim in as little as 2 days after purchase but havn't seen one yet from this deal :'(

    • Yes, received mine at least a week or two ago. Recommend do an online chat with them.

      • +3

I got an email this morning saying it was dispatched today and it would be up to 21 days. Never again groupon.

        • That's pretty awful really!

Although for $1 though it would be worth the wait I would think. (Or 93c if you claimed your cash back reward).

Hmm plenty of time to activate; by 30th November, or hang on to it in readiness for the next Kogan deal.

          • +1

@JediJan: Yeah it's just annoying as I wanted to activate it now and I would have been able to easily if ordered from kogan direct.

            • @Wilburre: Yes, pretty slow at that. I have a couple of spare Kogan sims; one extra left over from when we ported our mobiles over to Kogan and one that just has not been activated as yet. If you want DM me and will post you one.

              • @JediJan: Also just received my 2 SIMs today (20/11). In the activation process, where do we stop if we only want to use the Groupon voucher, but not yet activate the SIM service itself?

I thought that the SIMs can only be activated after inserting into the phone, so I proceeded with giving my credit card for the $1 deposit. Then when I logon to the Kogan acct where you're asked to change the PIN, I saw that the service has started, and the expiry date set to next month. I now have 2 30-day 40GB plans I'm not ready to use.

                • @gabbyu: Not had that experience myself so cannot advise. I only activate sims online and not had any issues myself. It appears buying through a third party (Groupon) makes the process so much more tedious.

                • +1

                  @gabbyu: Never experienced that..

The voucher code is delivered electronically immediately upon purchasing from Groupon. The voucher code must be used manually by you to activate a SIM.

If you already have a Kogan SIM with you (from a previous deal), then you could use it immediately by activating the Kogan SIM using the voucher code from the Groupon deal.

If you do not already have a Kogan SIM with you, you'd have to wait for the SIM to be delivered to you, and then use the voucher code from the Groupon deal to activate the Kogan SIM.

The $1 you pay is purely just from you to Groupon to receive the Kogan voucher code and to (eventually) have the unactivated SIM delivered to you.

There should be 2 points where you provide a Credit Card:

                  1. To pay Groupon $1 to purchase the deal
                  2. To activate the Kogan SIM, after entering in the voucher code from step #1. This does not deduct anything but is just a pre-authorisation.
                  • @illumination: @JediJan, @illumination, thank you for your replies.

I didn't have any prev KOGAN SIMs, so I had to wait for the Groupon delivery. Like some in this thread, I recvd them only yesterday. It was for an overseas visitor, but too late now, so I only intended to redeem the voucher now (expr 30/11), but activate the SIM only in the future. This is possible based on Groupon deal, and also covered well in this thread (eg, 365 days expiry). I'll be using the provided mobile#.

The Kogan activation took me thru:
                    1. Number Details > Personal Details > Plans (where I used the voucher code) > Review > Payment (entered CCard details for $0, not $1 in my initial post, sorry).
                    2. Then the Kogan acct logon where I had to set my 6-digit PIN. That's where I saw the SIM already had an expiry of 20/12/2018, and cancelled the auto-recharge.

So @illumination, by entering the Groupon voucher code, did I also activate the SIM; or was it activated after I entered my CCard details? Could I have stop in the middle of the activation steps (eg before the Payment step) so the voucher is redeemed, but the SIM not yet activated? Or should I just have kept the SIM (for future deals) and forego the voucher code and its $0 30-day 40GB plan.

The plan says Extra Large-30 Days, and somewhere it says 40GB, not the 32GB advertised in the deal, funny.

                    • @gabbyu:

The Kogan activation took me thru:
                      1. Number Details > Personal Details > Plans (where I used the voucher code) > Review > Payment (entered CCard details for $0, not $1 in my initial post, sorry).

This suggests that you have definitely activated your service. It sounds like you went through this process yesterday. 30 days starts from activation.

So @illumination, by entering the Groupon voucher code, did I also activate the SIM; or was it activated after I entered my CCard details?

The activation is "finalised" by providing your CC details as you outlined in step #1.

Could I have stop in the middle of the activation steps (eg before the Payment step) so the voucher is redeemed, but the SIM not yet activated?

I think this is possible but would be a technical quirk. If this is what has occurred, you'd probably need to contact Kogan to fix this up.

Or should I just have kept the SIM (for future deals) and forego the voucher code and its $0 30-day 40GB plan.

No, well, you should still technically have until 30 Nov to activate, so you wouldn't have to think of "foregoing" it until after 30 Nov.

so I only intended to redeem the voucher now (expr 30/11), but activate the SIM only in the future

I think I've realised why you're confused. You're thinking that the Groupon $1 purchase allows you to redeem another voucher code for Kogan to activate your SIM. This is not the case. The Groupon voucher code that gets generated is the Kogan voucher code. By "redeeming" it, you are activating your Kogan Mobile service, which is evidently what you have done.

Had you wanted to save it for activation on a later date, you would only have been able to save it until 30 November. If you had not activated/redeemed (same thing) it by 30 Nov, you would no longer have been able to use the voucher code from Groupon (i.e. would not have been able to activate your SIM using the voucher code.

The SIM itself, however, can still be used to either:

                      • Activate a service by making a separate, independent payment for one of Kogan's mobile plans
                      • For a future deal, similar to this, where a voucher code is issued to you via email. Like this. You'll get a voucher code emailed to you after purchase, almost immediately. You'll then get a physical SIM card (unactivated) sent to you in the mail.

@illumination: Thank you for your clarification, and being so patient with me.

In the 3rd step of the activation process (Plans), after I entered the voucher code, it showed me the $0 30-day plan. So basically, the Groupon $1 fee gave me:
                        1. a SIM delivered;
                        2. the voucher code to get the $0 plan, and also to activate/start the service.

I (mis)understood from the deal description that I could locked in a $0 plan before Nov30, and start the 30-day service anytime within the next 365 days.

So if I wasn't ready to use by Nov30, I would just hang on to the $1 SIM (for a year) to use for future deals. Anyway, a valuable lesson learnt for $1 (and your help), so no big loss.

Thank you for pointing out this new $0.99 deal. I'll have another go at it since I'll need a plan only by mid-Dec. Thanks again.

                          @gabbyu: No problem.

Correct. Spot on. So when you saw the "$0 30-day plan" after entering in your voucher code, by proceeding and then entering in your CC details, you both redeemed and activated your 30 day Kogan mobile service.

I (mis)understood from the deal description that I could locked in a $0 plan before Nov30, and start the 30-day service anytime within the next 365 days.

Yep that's what I concluded by the time I finished replying to your previous comment.

                          Exactly right.

                          Good luck!

                        • @gabbyu: I made the same error. You're not on your own.

                          • @Charlie Dont Surf: Thanks. Brings some comfort. Maybe the deal descriptions should be better worded next time for newbies like me.

        • Me too, email on 7th with "up to 21 days". WOW, still no SIM, have to activate by 30th. Never again will I be scammed by Groupon.

  • Still no SIM😞
Complained to Groupon - error with shipment.
Wanted to give me Groupon Credit👎
Got refund of $1 to PayPal.

Lucky I had bought a free Boost SIM via CashRewards so didn't need it👍

  • Finally got my SIM, wow bad shipping from "Adsone".

  • Good to know I'm not the only one still waiting for my SIMs to arrive

    • They arrived yesterday and activated with 40GB of data!

  • +1

Just received mine. Was told it was dispatched on 7 Nov. The date stamp on the envelope is 16 Nov, so delivery took 13 days. Absolutely shocking considering ADSOne 23/9 Ashley St, West Footscray is no more than 10 minutes drive from my home. Not sure who to blame, ADSOne or Aus Post.

    • +1

      I'd blame Groupon!
Groupon stuffed up my order in this deal.

Ordered direct from this 99c Kogan deal on 15/11, SIM arrived today 21/11. That's normal time in previous Kogan orders.

Won't bother ordering via Groupon again as adds their processing time on top of Kogans. Way too slow😠

If need SIM quickly could try https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/VHA-OFFICE-USE-H43H5L/

Ordered 3. Delivered by courier after only 3 days!

Just ordered a few more as spares for next deals. That way you don't have to wait for SIM to be delivered!

    • +4

      SIMs are free!

    • what is that "Office Use only" means?

      • +1

        Shh… Don't ask!
(It's Kogan speak for fast delivery.)

My next SIMs arrived - followed by the missing SIM from this deal,
