    • I agree, they take forever to respond. That's a big warning signal already, glad I'm not joining them.

    • don't really take too much time, but since this deal has been SO popular there might be a lot of people filing cases for non delivery

I normally had a response time of 12 hours or less most of the time

    • dupe so thought I might as well post lyrics to the Rebecca Black so to teach you guys the four days of the week

      Yesterday was Thursday, Thursday
      Today i-is Friday, Friday (Partyin')

      Tomorrow is Saturday
And Sunday comes after … wards

  • Hmm… now I am starting to get worried.. I just placed my order yesterday(and still have not heard from them at all, understand they say that they have a huge backlog).. and I email the tech support asking for the smaller sim to fit my iphone4… and all I got was a self computer generated ticket number emailed to me. I hope that they don't charge extra for the microsim… otherwise I would be very upset… Optus provided me the microsim without even a charge and no questions asked.. and my iphone was BYO… so if Liveconnect charge me for the microsim… I would just cancel the service… Liveconnect rep.. please respond.

When you sign up you have to select whether you want a normal SIM or a micro SIM. Regarding the lack of response from LC, I would just be patient as they have a huge backlog of emails apparently. However, I signed up last night at about 9:30pm and received confirmation today of receipt of my order—but it still hasn't been fully processed.

This raises the question, why don't they send out an automatic email confirming order submission when a customer signs up online? It would put the customer's mind at ease as well as serving as a reference if there are any issues with the processing of the order.

    • If you get the normal sim, there are tutorials out there teaching you how to cut it into a microsim yourself.

  • REP - PLEASE update what is going on with signups from the weekend. I signed up on Saturday and am STILL awaiting a confirmation email of any sort what-so-ever! People expect good service, please don't let us down at such an early stage of service. Thankyou in advance.

  • camelgrass.. I don't believe the choice was given to me at the time of my sign up..

    • It would have been the very first step where you chose to port a number or not, you can check by trying to order a plan now. Its the last question in that initial step.

  • Doh, been waiting for this again to refer to family/friends who have been interestested.
Been with them for half a year now. Good, quick service. Includes international SMS which is a stepup from my previous Optus contract. Fortunately, I am on one of the older plans which includes the 13/1800 numbers - don't use but good to have just in case.

  • any updates? Rep? anyone else haven't received any confirmation at all? I ordered on Sunday morning and got not even a single email after placing order?
Also checked my credit card online and nothing has been charged or pending??? Getting a little worried
will email now. was hesitant as I thought they would be too busy but probably should drop a line now.
anyone else in the same boat?

  • just to let you guys know
But I already got my sim and LC sim supposed to be activated on 23rd aka tomorrow
Maybe it depends on where you live or when you ordered ( 11.55 PM Sunday)

  • I got 2 emails from them yesterday 2pm-ish (ordered sunday night). No sim yet.
1 was a Self-service username and password. The 2nd was a tax invoice.

Using the username and password given, I can access the self-service portal, but cant access 'My account'- see usuage, change details?

How do you see the bit where it shows the current status/process?

    • don't remember the exact one but check the whirlpool thread for Liveonnected on order status

  • emailed them and got a reply in 5min :D
    everything is a-ok :)
Im in sydney so hope the sim will come soon
And wondering how long will the number porting take and how long will i be without a mobile reception??

  • update to anyone that cares
the $20 'deposit' actually paid for a new sim which arrived today…?? why do i need a new sim? im an existing customer. so much for being a deposit.

    • -1

LC is unfortunately not transparent about the charges. It used to be a "$20 SIM and delivery" charge. All they did was change the name to "$20 refundable deposit" to make it sound more acceptable to customers.

      • yeah i understand this, as stated in the previous page. im just pissed ive had to pay it twice now with no explanation and questioning why ive received a new sim when all i wanted was a change of proposition/plan. anyway..

    • That's pretty fast. @_@
When did you order it? Friday?
I ordered mine on Saturday and I've only received the confirmation email today.

  • -1

I placed the order on sunday night, $4.99 for $19.99 cap, and $20 deposit.
I checked it clearly that $24.99 would have been charged before I entered my credit card details.
But when I received the invoice email from Liveconnected, I only charged $20.
It's unfair, the promotional was on the website, and when i placed it, I am charged normal rate….why?

    • +3

THe $20 charge is for "Refundable Deposit" as it clearly states on the invoice. It's a postpaid plan so you pay the $4.99 later.

    • .

  • Got my sim today. Amazing 48hr delivery after order, not counting weekend.

  • I'm pretty pi$$ed off. I ordered on Saturday and did not receive an email until TUESDAY, and now the tracking number they sent me yesterday via email doesnt even show up on Australia Post website. The joy of it all!

    • Patience brother.

  • I ordered on Sat too, got my sim today. Will be activated tommorrow. My turn around is 72hrs for a working sim.

  • Yup, I got my sim today too. i assume its going to be activated by tomorrow. can someone explain to me the pro rata bit? i dont understand it completely and i dont want to rack up a massive bill. if it helps it says my billing cycle is from 28th one month to 27th next month.

    any help is appreciated.

    • basically the pro rata part means that they will calculate things based on a 30 day billing period.
If by the time your service is active there is only 5 days in the period (i.e. up until 28th march) that means that you only pay (5/30 or 1/6) x the access fee ($10.99). In the same respect you also only get 1/6 of the data value and cap value. So 1/6 of 400 = ~$67 and 1/6 of 1gb = 167 mb

Most people i would assume jump in thinking they have $400/1gb to use up in 5 days and end up being stung pretty bad.

    • Theres a pretty good explanation of Pro-rata if you go to FAQ -> knowledge base -> My billing -> What is Pro-rata billing and What are Pro rata calculations.

  • I can log into the website using my email and password. But I can't see the "change my details" site yet. Should I get worried?

My account is not activated yet though it says it should be activated today. It's now after business hours. Should I get worried. My old provider is still operating the number.

    • I reset my own password and I am able to log in.
Yeah..still waiting for phone to port over. So far so good.

      So when LC tells you that "your line will be auto-activated" on 23/03/2011;
it means you can only use them from 24/03/2011, right?

    • Im getting this too. I can access the self-service portal, but cant access the check my usuage and change details bit with the same log-in info.

  • .

  • Sim activated 1.30 PM today, remember not to use data until activation is fully complete. I am able to make calls, haven't tried using data yet(says you might be charged outside the billing period until fully activated

    • did you port your number over? if so, did you have time between your first number going down and the LC number going active?

      • nope not at all, I talked on the phone at 12.45 with a friend, was online checking my email when it said my sim was activated..1.32 PM test called home phone and worked

  • with the pro rate billing is this guy correct http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/41323?page=1#comment-415030. Basically dont use it until the 28th or you will get charged extra or is a a division of days left/30days? can some one clear this up

    • yea, that's right - see my post above as well.

      • Dont you still get charged a portion of the access fee (% depending when it gets activated), whether you make calls or not? Just have to calculate the maximum data/calls/text you can make with the allocated credit.

        • yea i said that above 1/6 x 10.99, pretty much for our situation i would bet on around 50-60$ of calls to be safe and 150mb of data.

oops my mistake JL i misread the post i was replying to - you will still be charged the portion of the monthly access fee as you said..so if you just dont use your fone i guess your wasting a few dollars.

    • since most people will start using the service 23rd onwards, I'll be guessing you will get $103 credit for both caps (just 1/31 * normal credit) to find out how much calls you can make in one day.

They have to do pro-rata, most ISP do it as well for plan upgrade/downgrades

      • You're confusing people. random123 is correct above, you will have about $60 available to be used from each $400 cap before the new billing cycle starts on the 28th when you will have the full $400 available to use.

Regarding other ISPs, really? I have recently changed plans with 3 Mobile, Vodafone and Internode. In all cases I have to wait until the new billing cycle for new plan changes.

They only do pro-rata because they are an Optus reseller. Pro-rata is definitely not the norm in the telco/ISP industry.

        • Uh sorry got confused, my ISP credits me back for the unused data when I change a plan, thought that was like pro-rata :(

Basically you will get $13 every day ..go figure!

  • oh well still not ported (from amaysim) even though the process "started yesterday". Can't really login to the site (experience login problems as per above posts).

Thought I would whinge here ;)

    • Hmmm, same here… got the sim quick enough but haven't been ported over yet shrug

      • When the SIM shows up, the letter will give you the date of auto-porting over.
The next day, you get an email saying auto-porting will now occur and at the end of the business day (5pm) porting occured.
Test called in and out, no problem. Haven't tried data.
Basically following the advise of everyone here, waiting out for my billing cycle to begin on the 28th before I start using. Can't afford to be paying for unnecessary charges.

    • Just got an email from LC. Apparently the My Account password is independent of the Self-service portal. Username is the same (email), if password doesnt work, try the 'forgot my password'. I did that now i can log into both.

  • did your original service you ported over from stop working? both my services are still down

  • Got my SIM today.
They sent via express post too! Awesome!
Will have to see if they're as good as some say.
Like most, I'll wait a while before I start using it.
Don't want to get hit by unnecessary charges.

Incompetent twits. I regret getting involved with this non-service company. Four days, three support tickets and no response to any of them.

  • -1

pro rata is only 38$ for a whole month!

    • +2

actually pro rata would mean you pay an exactly proportional amount for the service you are receiving. I'm not sure why so many people are confused by this.
if you pay x amount per month for y amount of service you pay whatever fraction of that month is left and receive the same fraction of your service. You don't end up with less and you don't end up with more. You certainly don't end up with $38 for a whole month. you'd end up with $38 for the last 3 days of the month and then it would tick over to the new month.

    • yeah , I don't see why people are complaining unless they are asking for billing to start as soon as you get the sim activated. But even with pro-rata you get what you pay for

  • My sim has been activated now and working but I am too scared to use it as no email confirmation has been sent. Ordered last Sat, activated today Friday.

    • from what i know only the data is something you need to put off, if you can make/receive calls and sms that should be fine to use. Just hold out on the data until you have confirmaiton that everything is up.

  • Which access point do you use to connect to the net? They just sent me a sms for config settings for 4 access points: MMS, YESINTERNET,Internet and OptusZoo WAP.

Earlier I did the handset config via http://optusau.wdsglobal.com/internet, which made an access point for Optus WEB.

Which one do you use so its counted towards the data cap? And for free unlimited facebook access, is there a special link to use so its not counted towards the data cap?

  • the 10.99 price doesn't include GST?

    • I'm getting charged $12.41 for my next bill.
I thought the extra $1.42 was the pro-rata fee and that the $10.99 already includes GST.
      Guess I'll have to see.

  • and why is pro rata on a $400 plan from 24th to 27th only 30$?
